Chapter 708: Chapter 708: Asking the Immortals in the Underworld (2)

Miss Chuzheng removed a tal object the size of a fingertip.

With a head full of question marks, Hu Shuo watched, while Su Tiyue looked on with a gentle and refined deanor without expressing any opinions.

Chuzheng tapped the glass sphere.

The glass sphere crackled and transford into a robot, to which Chuzheng handed the tal object.

Clutching the tal object, the robot complained in a whiny, childlike voice, “It’s so big, I can’t fit it in.”

Chuzheng: “…”

Su Tiyue: “…”

Hu Shuo: “…”

The robot, with its short arms and legs, tried to fit the tal object behind its backside, but naturally failed.

“Master, I can’t place it there,” the robot reported to Chuzheng in a pitiful, whiny voice, “would you help put it in?”

Chuzheng clenched her fist, a silent threat.

I’ll dismantle you if you keep nagging!

The robot whimpered and opened a compartnt on its arm, placing the tal object inside while continuing to complain, “It’s not comfortable at all here.”

Chuzheng said fiercely, “Stop dawdling and hurry up.”

The robot humd with displeasure and then sounded a voice that, although still in a childlike tone, was noticeably more serious—albeit still laughable.

“Data loading…”

“Reading video…”

“Acquisition successful, Spiritual Value Fluctuation 1-10, determining level…”

“Level determination failed, proceed with manual evaluation?”

Hu Shuo understood everything so far.

But what the heck was that about afterward?

What’s Spiritual Value?

Evaluating what level?

“Manual evaluation.”

The scene in front of them suddenly changed.

The room was still the sa, but the lighting had dimd considerably.

A long, bamboo-pole-like shadow appeared in the room.

The shadow was right in front of Hu Shuo, who, startled, stepped back and was supported by Su Tiyue behind him.

The shadow drifted past Hu Shuo and floated toward the ga pod.

Hu Shuo, suddenly unconcerned with fear, lunged towards the ga pod.

“Mr. Hu.”

Su Tiyue held him back.

“This is sothing that happened before; there’s no need to be anxious.”

Hu Shuo: “???”

This doesn’t look like monitoring, does it?

Hu Shuo, standing here, felt it was very real.

Chuzheng stood with one hand on her hip and the other propping up her chin, her fingertip against her lips, staring at the shadow.

The scene quickly disappeared.

Hu Shuo turned his head, looking around in surprise and confusion, “That… what was that?”

No one answered him.

“Master, I’ve never seen this creature before,” the robot clattered forward a couple of steps, “It’s so strange looking, without a head or tail, like a shadow.”

Chuzheng’s face was indifferent: “There’s a lot you haven’t seen.”

Robot: “You’re an.”

“…” Chuzheng shivered and calmly said, “Establish a file.”

“File for unknown lifeform X346 has been established, please determine level…”

“Level 5.”

“File for unknown lifeform X346 has been updated.”

“Capture movent trajectory.”

“Master, it’s no good, its Spirit Value Fluctuation is very weak; I can’t capture it once it leaves this room,” the robot said.

Chuzheng glanced at it; the robot looked back at her innocently, its angular exterior making it seem utterly adorable at that mont.

Su Tiyue spoke, “A Spiritual Value of just 10—this should be a low-level creature…”

“I’ve determined its level as 5,” Chuzheng interrupted him calmly.

Su Tiyue suddenly beca silent.

Level 5, with a Spiritual Value Fluctuation that should be at least a hundred, why is this one only 10?

“Professor Su… what are all these?” Hu Shuo’s voice trembled slightly, feeling as if he were opening the door to a new world.

Su Tiyue glanced at Chuzheng, who was wandering around the room, and said to Hu Shuo, “Mr. Hu, there are more than just humans in this world.”

“… Are there really ghosts?”

Just like Chuzheng had said, Su Tiyue replied, “Mr. Hu, feudal superstition is not good.”

Hu Shuo: “…” It’s not that I’m being superstitious, but everything happening now is forcing to be superstitious!!

And then there was the visit to Chuzheng’s shop.

She was selling incense, wax, and paper candles, items ant for the deceased.

Can you bla for thinking that way?

Seeing that Chuzheng had no intention of stopping him, Su Tiyue knew that to resolve the matter, he eventually had to explain it to Hu Shuo, so he started to clarify.

Unknown creatures exist in this world, what they specifically are, no one can say for sure.

So of them resemble humans.

So resemble animals.

So resemble plants.

And so are even inanimate objects… in short, all kinds of strange things.

These unknown creatures possess abilities humans do not have, so powerful, so weak.

Although the abilities of unknown creatures vary, most of them share one thing in common.

They can inhabit human bodies… Of course, they can also inhabit other objects, but only when they are in the air do they show their true form.

Initially, humans can obtain their abilities, such as suddenly being able to see in the dark, suddenly having an eidetic mory, and so on…

But over ti, they can take ownership of the human body—dead matter doesn’t matter, they can reside in it as long as they wish—but these unknown creatures prefer humans.

The humans who are inhabited silently die.

And the people around them don’t realize that the person they are living with has long beco another being.

Hu Shuo listened, dumbstruck.

“Where… where do they co from?”

That’s no different from ghosts!

Hu Shuo’s back was covered in a cold sweat.

Su Tiyue shook her head and looked toward Chuzheng, “I’m afraid only she knows.”

“… What… what does Miss Chuzheng do?”

“…” That’s not easy to define, she doesn’t belong to our side, Su Tiyue fell silent, and vaguely said, “She deals with these creatures.”

“…”

Hu Shuo swallowed hard.

He felt he needed to digest this information properly.

Chuzheng had a bit of a headache.

She hated those without identity, the unregistered dwellers.

Unregistered creatures not recorded in the archive of unknown beings are often the most troubleso.

They’re either of high level or they possess so special ability.

Like the one right now…

With a Spirit Value Fluctuation from 1 to 10, yet judged as level 5, and she also found no trace of anything hidden in this manor.

So it must possess so particularly special power.

Chuzheng glanced at Su Tiyue, “Are the tools from your side of no use?”

Su Tiyue smiled wryly, “Miss Chuzheng, if they were useful, I wouldn’t have asked Mr. Hu to seek your help.”

Truth be told, he didn’t notice anything when he ca to check.

Unknown creatures have been around for a very long ti.

The authorities discovered them early on and have set up a dedicated official organization to deal with them.

Su Tiyue was part of it.

They are responsible for handling these anomalies.

But Chuzheng is different from them, she does not belong to any institution, not many people know of her, and her abilities…

Su Tiyue wasn’t very clear, but they were definitely formidable.

If she finds out soone is inhabited by an unknown creature, she won’t intervene; it seems she only takes responsibility for recording, establishing archives of unknown creatures.

The life and death of humans are irrelevant to her.

Of course, with compensation, they can also ask for her help.
