Jax approached the elven royals with a pleasant smile plastered across his face.
King Oakryn was already staring at him. His eyes contained pure venom. Poison that could kill a lesser man with a single glance.
Beside him, Aeliana wore a similar expression. She was cursing internally, her disgust barely concealed behind a thin mask of noble composure.
But Tia and Ilythra?
They were happy to see him approaching. Though inside, Tia was terrified. Her heart raced with the fear of sothing.
Jax stopped before them and bowed with practiced elegance.
"It’s a pleasure to et you again on this special occasion. I hope everything was fine, from your travels to your stay here?"
King Oakryn spoke first. "Professor."
His voice dripped with barely contained hostility. "I’m surprised you dare approach us."
Jax maintained his innocent smile. "Why wouldn’t I, Your Majesty? We’re all friends here."
"Friends?" The word ca out like venom. As if the very syllables burned his tongue.
Ilythra stepped in smoothly. "Oakryn, don’t be rude. The professor has been nothing but helpful to our family."
"Helpful?" Another poisoned word. The king’s jaw tightened visibly.
Jax made a sad face. "I do try my best to... serve."
Tia choked on her wine.
Cough! Cough!
Wine sprayed slightly as she struggled to breathe.
Aeliana imdiately turned to her with concern. "Mother? Are you alright?"
"Fine. "Tia wiped her lips delicately. "Just went down the wrong pipe."
Ilythra’s hand found Jax’s arm. Let it rest there. Comfortable. Familiar.
"Tell , Professor. Did you enjoy the refreshnts earlier? I heard people saying it was really good for both its taste and... service."
Jax’s smile widened. "The service was excellent. Let’s just say they didn’t leave until every single drop of my..."
He paused. "I an, until every drop of that juice was exhausted."
Ilythra’s smile stretched further. "How generous of them."
The king’s eye twitched violently.
Tia was now drinking her wine at an alarming pace. Her free hand kept smoothing her dress. Adjusting the fabric. Fidgeting with invisible wrinkles.
Aeliana’s confusion grew with each passing second. Sothing was happening beneath these words. Hidden currents flowing between the adults that she couldn’t grasp no matter how hard she tried.
"Professor." She cut in sharply. "Why exactly are you here? Don’t you have other people to bother?"
"Aeliana." Tia’s voice carried a motherly scolding tone. "That’s no way to speak to soone who has done so much for our family."
Aeliana turned to her mother. "Done what exactly?"
Silence.
Heavy. Suffocating.
Tia’s wine glass trembled in her grip.
Ilythra answered smoothly, filling the dangerous void.
"He saved you during that mission, didn’t he? Show so gratitude."
The king laughed bitterly.
"Gratitude. Yes. We owe him so much gratitude."
His eyes bored into Jax with undisguised hatred. "For everything he’s done."
Jax decided to play along. "It’s nothing, Your Majesty. It’s the duty of this professor to serve. I an satisfy..."
He paused. "No, fulfill desir..."
’The hell is wrong with my vocabulary?’
He sighed heavily. "My body belongs to you."
The words escaped before he could stop them.
Jax realized his mistake imdiately. His eyes found Tia, whose face had turned completely crimson. Then Ilythra, who wore an expression of proud satisfaction.
He rubbed the back of his head awkwardly.
"I an, it’s my duty as a professor and a citizen of this world to help the great family however I can."
Ilythra nodded approvingly. "That’s so sweet of you, Professor. We’re glad to have you."
Her smile turned aningful. "Also, just to inform you, we will be in your care for this entire week."
Jax understood the intent hidden behind those words perfectly. "Sure. You can just summon . I would be there in no ti."
The king had finally reached his limit.
He knew exactly what was happening. The double anings. The flirtation. His horny mother playing these disgusting gas right in front of him.
"Mother." His voice was strained.
"I think we should greet other guests as well. It would be rude if we don’t."
Ilythra sighed dramatically. "Gosh, looks like we need to separate here, Professor. But don’t worry."
Her eyes sparkled. "We will et again soon."
The king leaned close to Jax’s ear.
His whisper was pure ice.
"I know what you did. I haven’t forgotten. And I will find a way to pay you back."
Jax whispered in return, matching his tone. "There is nothing to pay back, Your Majesty. I have been paid enough. With interest, of course. By your..."
Jax stopped mid-sentence.
So things were better left unsaid. Even for him.
"Queen, let’s go."
The king turned away sharply, not waiting for any response.
The screwed family departed.
Aeliana followed, looking genuinely confused by everything that had transpired. Her eyes kept darting between the adults, searching for answers she would never find.
Jax watched her go, thinking about what would happen when she eventually realized the truth. That both her mother and grandmother were obsessed with him.
’That’s going to be one hell of a family dinner.’
Ilythra gave him a final goodbye glance. Then, as she walked away, her entire deanor shifted. The seductive woman who had claid everything from him transford into an elegant queen. Poised. Proper. As if she hadn’t spent over an hour screaming his na just hours ago.
"Now you’re playing with King Oakryn?" A voice ca from behind. "You sure are a nace."
Jax turned to find Sylvie approaching him.
He smiled pleasantly. "Playing? You’ve got it all wrong, Your Highness. It was just two old buddies teasing each other."
Sylvie made a confused face. Though clearly, she was mocking him. "Is that so? Well, that makes sense then. Explains why he was so pissed."
She tilted her head. "You truly are undefeated in trolling as well."
Jax placed a hand over his heart. "Your Majesty, this humble peasant is honored to hear such praise."
Sylvie’s expression shifted. "Let’s end the act here. And can you stop calling by the title?"
Her eyes narrowed. "It doesn’t suit you. Coming from your mouth, it feels like an insult. As if you’re mocking ."
She stepped closer. "Not to ntion, you’ve called by my na before. Rember? Or should I remind you of the exact mont? When you were angry and said anything to ’this Your Highness’?"
Before Jax could formulate a response, a familiar figure took the stage.
Lysandra.
She held a stone in her hand that Jax recognized instantly.
The sa type of runic stone that had been involved in his quest. The one he had patted three tis while buried inside Tia’s pussy.
She tapped it against the podium.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Then placed it on the wooden surface.
Her voice rang out across the entire ballroom. "I am really sorry for making you all wait."
Jax’s confusion grew. ’What’s the purpose of that stone?’
He turned to Sylvie. "Hey, Sylvie. What’s that stone for?"
He pointed toward the podium.
Sylvie followed his gesture.
"That’s a runic stone. It has multiple uses, but here Lysandra is using it as a speaker for announcents."
She explained casually. "It’s basically connected to magic circles positioned around the halls. When activated as per its design, it enhances one’s voice and broadcasts it throughout the entire area."
Jax’s blood ran cold.
Panic seized his chest.
His mind raced backward, processing everything. The commotion when he had returned. The argunts between couples. The whispers about sounds. The conversations that suddenly made terrifying sense.
And Lysandra’s deadly gaze, which was fixed on him even now.
That was proof enough.
She knew what had happened.
Jax scread internally at his system.
’What were you thinking about all this? What gain did you get from it?’
His ntal voice was pure fury.
’You fucker! You don’t have the slightest idea what you got into!’
The system, as usual, remained silent.
Jax turned back to Sylvie, forcing his voice to remain casual.
"What happened when I wasn’t here? I an, what was that fuss about a few monts ago? Before the incident I created."
Sylvie answered without sha or embarrassnt.
"There was a lovely family. A son, a sister, and then their psycho mother."
She smiled nostalgically. "Those three were really sothing else. And their—"
Lysandra’s amplified voice cut through their conversation.
"The ball had to be delayed because of the advent of new threats. We needed ti to study the case. This night has been too disturbing for you all, and we deeply apologize for it."
Jax gulped.
"However, the culprits for both incidents tonight have been identified."
Her gaze found Jax in the crowd. ’This isn’t looking good.’
His heart hamred against his ribs. ’Don’t you dare ntion .’
"The disgusting sounds we all witnessed were the mischief of these otherworldly devils. The sa ones that one of our professors so bravely executed earlier."
Jax’s shoulders relaxed slightly. ’She’s covering it up.’
Lysandra continued. "We don’t know how many of these threats still hide among us. Therefore, we have reached a conclusion."
She paused for effect.
"We will shift our schedule by one day. Tomorrow, there will be no events related to the inter-academy competition. However, all other entertainnt events will proceed as originally scheduled."
Her voice carried authority.
"You are all welco to tour the academy grounds and enjoy the fair. anwhile, we will hunt down any remaining threats within our walls."
She bowed her head slightly.
"I request your full cooperation in this matter. We will need proper examination of every participant and guest."
Her eyes swept across the crowd.
"I hope you all understand the necessity of these asures and acknowledge the steps we are taking to ensure your safety."
A pause.
"Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please enjoy the remainder of this evening, and rest assured that the academy stands vigilant against all threats to our community."
Applause rippled through the ballroom.
Jax released a heavy sigh.
’Looks like my assumption was wrong after all. How could she possibly know I was the one behind it?’
He watched Lysandra step down from the podium.
Her expression changed as she walked. Her hand rose to rub her temple. Exhaustion and frustration etched across her features.
A wicked thought ford in Jax’s mind.
’Now that I’m safe...’ His smile turned predatory.
’Why not take this opportunity to make her cry?’
