“Should we run away?” I asked quietly.
“To where?” Len replied without hesitation. “As long as we stay inside this forest, they will chase us without end.”
“Then… what about staying airborne?”
Len shook her head, her silver hair swaying faintly in the night breeze.
“That is even worse. If monsters are gathering here in such numbers, it ans other areas are becoming emptier. Stronger creatures will eventually migrate here in search of prey. Including us.”
Her golden eyes narrowed slightly.
“We can handle one A-Rank monster. Multiple ones at once is another matter.”
“So that ans…” I muttered.
“Yes. We eliminate them before anything stronger arrives.”
I let out a long breath, the weight of the situation settling in.
“Sorry…” Len added softly.
“It’s fine,” I replied. “So what’s the plan?”
“I will buy you ti to store the tent in the magic bag.”
I raised an eyebrow.
“You’re still worried about the tent?”
“Of course. We only have one. Where will we sleep after the battle?”
Her words carried absolute confidence that we would survive.
“Well, at least you’re optimistic…”
I chuckled.
“What cos after that?”
Len’s gaze drifted downward toward the forest. A slow smile curled her lips.
“We remind them who the true predators are.”
“Haa… you’re just dressing up ‘no plan’ with fancy words…”
Len laughed softly in response.
We hovered in mid-air above the treetops. Below us, countless red eyes glimred through the darkness as Red Wolves surrounded our tent in a loose ring. Thankfully, they had not attacked it yet.
Len stretched out her hand toward the ground. Mana flowed from her palm, spreading outward like ripples. A translucent white barrier ford around the tent, sealing it off completely.
Since I had not yet learned Elental Barrier, Len would have to maintain it herself while fighting. My role was simple. Store the tent as fast as possible and rejoin the battle.
“I’m ready.” Len said.
“I’ll count.” I replied. “Three. Two. One. Jump.”
We moved at the sa ti.
I dove toward the tent while Len dropped straight into the sea of wolves below.
—————
– Selena’s POV –
The forest pulsed with life and hunger. Red eyes glead from every direction, their gazes locked onto as if I were already prey. My heart raced, not with fear, but with exhilaration. It had been far too long since I felt this alive.
I drew my sword. Auranthiel burst into white flas, its glow painting the trees and shadows in ghostly light.
My darling could not handle hundreds of monsters at once. That was why I told him to store the tent. That was my excuse.
I intended to slaughter as many of them as possible before he joined the fight.
After all, this situation existed because of .
I t the wolves’ snarling stares with cold fury.
“How dare you interrupt my precious ti with my darling.”
They answered only with low growls.
“Grrrr…!”
“Eclipsis Gloweave.”
Heavenfire wrapped around my body, forming a radiant aura that shimred like a divine veil.
“Rawr…!”
The first wave lunged. I vanished in a flash of light.
Auranthiel carved through flesh and bone with ruthless precision. Bodies fell before they could even realize they were dead.
Yet the wolves kept coming endlessly.
“Pyrolu Swordcraft First Form: Ignition Blitz.”
I tore through their ranks like a streak of white lightning, leaving a trail of corpses behind .
Now surrounded, I raised my free hand and poured mana into the ground.
“Blazeburst Nova.”
Boom!
White flas erupted outward in a violent ring. Heavenfire bolts lashed through the air, incinerating anything that moved. The forest echoed with agonized howls as over a hundred wolves burned away in seconds.
The flas circled like a blazing domain.
I infused Auranthiel further, layering heavenfire upon its blade.
“Scorchbrand Pyromancy.”
The sword glowed brighter, its heat warping the air itself.
Using Mana Detection, I traced every remaining presence.
“Pyrolu Swordcraft Second Form: Pyralux Arcfire.”
With a single slash, a wave of white flas erupted, slicing through wolves and trees alike in a blazing horizontal arc.
At that mont, I don’t feel any presence in my barrier anymore.
‘Did he finish already?’
Not long after, his voice echoed in my mind.
(“I’m done, Len.”)
I scanned the battlefield again.
Despite everything, nearly two thousand wolves remained. Reinforcents had already arrived.
With a snap of my fingers, the flas vanished as if they had never existed. The forest was left scarred, littered with charred earth and fallen bodies.
I had adjusted the temperature of my heavenfire earlier, so the fur of all these wolves are still in good shape and can be used as materials later.
With the flas vanished, now I can see the surviving wolves. But I could not continue alone. Darling could not handle them by himself. So I moved.
Using the title The Pioneer of Aethralunians, I teleported.
“Huh?”
I found myself standing in mid-air, feet resting on a stable platform of wind. Below us, wolves prowled among corpses, their hunger undiminished.
Beside , my darling sat calmly, launching star blades downward.
“Why?”
He asked casually.
“Did you really think I wouldn’t figure it out?”
Star blades rained down, claiming more lives. He continued.
“So storing the tent was just an excuse to thin their numbers.”
“H-How did you know…?”
“Because I’m your lover.”
He grinned and added lightly.
“That doesn’t an you’re off the hook. You hid sothing from , so you’ll be punished after this. No waiting until we reach town.”
‘Haa… I really worried for nothing.’
I inwardly chided myself for worrying needlessly. While he may view as not normal due to my abilities, his own fighting style is not normal either. Though, I doubted he realized just how exceptional he truly was in this world.
I asked, pretending indifference as I launched my own blades towards the wolves below.
“Do you crave recreating those scenes that much?”
“Huh?”
He paused, his hand halting mid-attack as he turned to in surprise. Ignoring his gaze, I continued to launch more blades at the wolves.
“Which one this ti? The woman sitting under a tree? Or fishing by the river before being ambushed from behind?”
I teased, recalling so of the adult movies he had watched in his previous life.
"W-Why do you know about those...?"
I brushed off his question and pressed on with the playful and suggestive topic.
“How about we do it while moving by using this wind platform? It’s also for your training. If you can do that…”
I paused for a mont, leaning closer to her ear and added softly.
“I will let you punish however you want.”
Ah, he stopped entirely. Who knows what he imagined this ti.
Of course, it would also be training for . We both possess the Parallel Thinking skill so it is not incredibly difficult to train while being intimate with one another. In fact, I thought it might be a wonderful idea to keep us both motivated. It would train our concentration to be able to handle many complex tasks simultaneously.
‘It’s not like I wanted to do it. Yes, It’s just training.’
While I was busy justifying my own hidden desires as a ans of growth, my darling pulled back to my senses.
“I guess I’ll have to train hard enough to maintain this platform for a whole year non-stop.”
I shrugged.
“Then I won’t need to drink water anymore.”
As we exchanged this playful banter amidst the chaotic slaughter occurring below us, I could not help but revel in the intimacy of the mont. We were bathed in the cool moonlight filtering through the green canopy and for a brief mont it felt as if the entire world belonged only to the two of us.
