Capítulo 1047: Chapter 14: Linz Terminus (Part 2)
“Yes.”
Hu Po smiled and said, “Mr. Xiao Gu, that’s exactly the reason the teacher recomnded her. Although Ye Kaluo has received the ‘Divine Office’ under the Source Tower, she is actually an insider of the Ancient Literature Society. She once studied with the teacher for a short ti… Now she has a high reputation around the Central Continent Port, and Rhein City is a bustling trade city. If we plan to et offline in the future, this is a good choice.”
“Star Envoy…”
Gu Shen frowned and said, “Having received the Divine Office, wouldn’t the two Deities of the Source Tower leave a strand of Divine Thought?”
“You worry too much. There are many ‘Star Envoys’ within the Central Continent.”
Hu Po shook his head and said, “Even in the small city of Linz, there is more than one ‘Star Envoy’ patrolling. Most of those who step into the Source Tower as Transcendents are eligible to obtain the Divine Office of ‘Star Envoy’; it depends on personal choice… If every one of them were granted a strand of Divine Thought, even with two Divine Thrones, the Source Tower would be overwheld.”
He paused and added, “Of course, entering the Source Tower isn’t that easy. Even the weakest priest there is stronger than the average Transcendent… They have the ability and qualifications to maintain order. The two Deities open the tower door to the world, leaving the ‘precious’ dream resources. Yet to constantly comprehend them, one must beco a Divine Official, and [Deep Sea] observes everything. Once one accumulates enough rit, they can return to Upper City, rise to a higher position, and change into a more stellar Priest Robe.”
“During this process… anyone, at any ti, can choose to leave.”
Gu Shen, upon hearing this, understood.
The Source Tower uses a rather free approach to manage its Divine Officials.
Countless people flock to the legendary tower.
Entering the Source Tower, gaining insight into dreams, allows you to grow stronger… Top-tier talents will receive the favor of the Divine Throne. Those slightly lesser must either strive themselves or join Upper City to be recognized by the ‘Source Tower.’
With [Deep Sea] overseeing, these talents naturally go to various places on the Central Continent for trials!
“Now… the ‘Wine Spark’ is back in place.”
Hu Po lowered his voice and said slowly, “The upper echelon of the Source Tower is in a frenzy. Those [Angel Envoys] who once followed the God of Wine are the most hopeful candidates to inherit the Spark… But the good news is, so far, no one has completed the full trial of the ‘Dream of Wine and Fire.’ This Spark still seeks a worthy owner, which will likely take a long ti.”
Upon hearing this, Gu Shen was slightly surprised.
He looked aningfully at Ian’s favorite disciple.
Information from inside the Source Tower isn’t easily obtained.
This guy… doesn’t seem like a simple, ordinary disciple.
After Hu Po returned to his wheelchair, he blinked slightly, hiding his rits and reputation.
“Master, which one do you recomnd more?”
Gu Shen squatted slightly, directly facing the elder in the wheelchair. Ian seed very tired, his eyes half-closed, and his breathing beca difficult and slow.
He was already prepared to et these two recomnders.
However, since he was new and unfamiliar with the Central Continent, just arranging a “eting room” appointnt is probably not enough to gain trust.
These two are both familiar with Ian.
If Master Sir personally bridges the gap, it would be different.
“Holin… is on his way back.”
The equipnt with the Spiritual Link produced a weak, dream-like voice from the elder.
“He’ll be back soon.”
…
…
Upper City is the core of the Central Continent.
Here, each day countless trams move through rails, toward all directions of the Central Continent.
Even small cities like Linz have direct trams.
However… returning to “Linz” from Upper City is rare, especially in the dead of night, making it even rarer. Generally speaking, in remote areas of the Central Continent, only [Deep Sea] drives the train alone, moving from one deserted station to another.
But tonight is an exception.
A middle-aged man in a long black coat with a slicked-back hairstyle was organizing his briefcase on the train.
His briefcase was filled with blueprints, on which were drawn symbols, obscure and incomprehensible “texts,” hundreds of sheets densely packed.
In an empty train, he ticulously organized the blueprints, watching them repeatedly.
Finally.
The train arrived at the terminal station, Linz.
“You have reached the terminal, Linz, please disembark.”
“You have reached the terminal, Linz, please disembark.”
It wasn’t until the gentle reminder of [Deep Sea] echoed twice in his mind that Professor Huolin realized the long journey from Upper City had unknowingly reached its destination. He hurriedly stuffed the blueprints into his briefcase and quickly exited.
Outside the platform, moonlight shone like a sea, sowhat pale, and dazzling.
The train whistled away.
Holin frowned, looking in the direction of the glaring moonlight, squinting his eyes… a bright lamp was glaring at him, the small city’s equipnt was always inconsiderate of experience, he reached out to shield his eyes, planning to lower his head and leave.
In the next mont.
He suddenly froze.
Due to the glare of the pale lamp, the entire waiting corridor of the platform was illuminated in bleak white… but a long shadow extended to his front.
Holin slowly raised his head.
The man stood at the exit, arms crossed as if waiting for a long ti.
“Long ti no see, Holin.”
The man spoke with a light-hearted laugh, using the tone of reuniting with an old friend to address Holin.
Holin stared blankly at the black shadow.
He couldn’t see clearly.
“No, that’s not right…”
After the man spoke, he quickly shook his head, sighing, “Sorry, I called wrong.”
“Should I be calling you now… esteed Professor Huolin?”
“Now you’re admired by countless people in the academy of Upper City, fa, status, today you have everything. You’re no longer the obscure little assistant from back in the laboratory, being chastised terribly for even knocking over a vial.”
Holin’s expression suddenly turned pale.
“Tsk tsk, never thought that, over twenty years later, you’re still as young as ever, compared to back then, just a bit more mature… Seems you followed the right teacher after all.”
The shadow stood in the darkness, reached out to touch his chin, and laughed, “All these years, you kept researching that ‘thing,’ right? Returning now, wanting to share the latest results?”
“Who are you?”
Holin’s expression grew dark.
Countless mories flashed in his mind, yet he couldn’t match any to the face of the man before him.
“It’s truly saddening…”
The shadow slowly advanced.
As the lights went out, the bright corridor was suddenly engulfed by the night, with the wind whistling.
Holin lunged forward, pulling out a bare cross-shaped sword hilt from his pocket, and in the mont of the source energy infusion, a laser shot out.
“Does a Deep Sea First Rank official dare draw a sword against ?”
The black shadow crossed its arms and smiled, “Courageous.”
He looked at the sword-drawing man with the eyes of soone watching a clown.
In the next mont.
Holin threw the laser sword, but his target was not the black shadow; it was the alarm system on the ceiling of the corridor…
“Not bad… you do have so brains.”
The black shadow watched the laser pierce the alarm system.
The entire corridor remained quiet.
He said softly, “If it weren’t well-prepared, how could I dare return to the Central Continent, dare co to find you…”
Holin was stunned.
“Rest assured, what happens here will go unnoticed.”
“[Deep Sea] cannot see.”
The black shadow slowly advanced, extending a broad hand to grab Holin’s neck, lifting him up, feet off the ground. It was only at this mont that Holin’s eyes gradually acclimated to the darkness.
In asphyxiation, his vision beca crimson.
As if shrouded in a dream, he saw faces constantly change on this person’s face.
They were all unfamiliar faces.
Until finally…
He saw a face full of scars, nine-tenths burned, a “familiar face.”
“It’s … you?”
Holin could no longer make a sound; under imnse force, his eyes nearly bulged out.
“You’re alive?!”
“It’s … thanks to you, I’m alive, living poorly.”
Mocking himself, the shadow laughed.
In the next mont he exerted force, fingers cracking as he twisted Holin’s neck.
“Crunch—”
A quiet thud echoed in the quiet corridor.
Holin’s body hit the ground, blood oozing from his seven orifices, soon… staining the corridor red.
The briefcase and blueprints he carried scattered everywhere.
