"I..."
Tomb Ghost clutched his head, his voice hoarse as he said, "I don’t know why either, but I rember these... that ’equation’, those codes, and the ancient texts... It’s as if they’re etched into my blood; I can’t forget them, nor can I control them."
"I’m sorry... I’m sorry..."
Tomb Ghost leaned against the wall, his tone weakened by a third.
He ca to find Gu Shen with many questions in mind, but from the first exchange, he knew he was wrong. How could he possibly be a match for Gu Shen? This guy didn’t play by the rules at all. Now his mind was a tangled ss, completely passive.
Gu Shen sighed softly.
Looking at the unfortunate fellow, his gaze softened considerably. "Alright, I forgive you... Is there anything else?"
"..."
"If there’s nothing else, go back and have a good rest. Rember to continue ’unpacking’ the ancient texts I gave you, I’ll check on it in a couple of days." Gu Shen turned and waved his hand.
Leaning against the stone wall of the alley, Tomb Ghost asked in a light voice, "How did you know... that I knew?"
Gu Shen paused.
Tomb Ghost said, "So... that dream was real, wasn’t it?"
Gu Shen slightly turned back, looking at Tomb Ghost’s pale face under the moonlight.
So things should not be probed too deeply.
During the Duolu River mission...
The North Continent Army had already made many sacrifices...
And the re-ascension of Central City relied on the Traveler’s Spark...
So even in the secluded Qingzhong Cetery with just the two of them, Mr. Bai Shu still interrupted Gu Shen’s questioning, cutting off the discussion about the "traveler."
The implication was more than obvious.
Amidst the undercurrents of the Seven Gods clearly forming camps, the alliance of the two continents needed to ensure the safety of the "Traveler’s Spark," taking into account the "Divination Skill" and "Unknown Fate Divine Artifact."
The top-secret information about the traveler’s survival had to be locked at the causal level.
As long as it’s not explicitly revealed, theoretically... the balance of the Five Continents wouldn’t undergo drastic changes because of it.
"I don’t understand what you’re talking about."
Gu Shen said expressionlessly, "Have you really damaged your head, or did you not understand what I just said?"
Tomb Ghost was taken aback.
The next mont.
Gu Shen took out a fragnt of the Heavenly Sheath from the "Miracle Silver" box he always carried — a fragnt he obtained after the battle with Han Dang beneath the Frozen Lake. Most were given to the old man for secretly making more Heavenly Sheath Weapons for contingencies.
But Gu Shen kept so for himself, carrying them closely.
"Ssss..."
As the Heavenly Sheath Fragnt pierced his skin, the dark curse energy instantly invaded Gu Shen’s body.
"Hey."
He looked at Tomb Ghost calmly, "Look into my eyes—"
Tomb Ghost gazed into Gu Shen’s eyes.
Gu Shen touched the wound with the tip of his finger afla with Chi Huo.
The next mont.
The alley scene quickly changed.
The world spun, drowsiness hit, and as Tomb Ghost leaned against the wall, he soft and limply slid to the base.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in the familiar Black Snow Mountain. He was still the lonely soul trapped within a shell... Yet before him, the snow parted, revealing a young, solemn figure clad in a black robe.
Gu Shen, no different from before, pressed his hands on his knees, sitting cross-legged atop the snow mountain.
"Whoosh..."
The wind and snow reversed, the traveler looked up, staring at Gu Shen.
"Detoxify."
Gu Shen reached out his hand. This ti, he had no extra words, rely watching the "traveler" on the stone wall quietly, eting those clear, puzzled, bewildered eyes.
But this ti—
The traveler did not imdiately detoxify Gu Shen.
His dry voice laughed, "This little curse... so urgent?"
The traveler’s spirit had noticeably improved.
During recent tundra raids, Gu Shen actively absorbed a large amount of the Heavenly Sheath Curse, and as he visited the Black Snow Mountain repeatedly, the traveler locked on the stone wall, having initially not uttered a word, began gradually opening up... Now, he even initiated conversations with Gu Shen.
Their dynamic began slowly reversing.
Now, it was instead Gu Shen who beca "tight-lipped."
It wasn’t that Gu Shen didn’t want to converse.
But he’d already realized that the soul in this shell was Tomb Ghost in the real world...
And the "traveler" locked by spears and arrow rain on Black Snow Mountain was relying on the Heavenly Sheath Curse brought by himself to gradually restore power, a situation very akin to the scene within the "Truth Ruler."
The more he visited, the more power he gave it.
"There’s still business outside."
Gu Shen calmly said, "Detoxify first, I’ll co for you once I’m done."
The traveler silently laughed.
He had indeed guessed this young man’s intention... recently, the curses decreased.
But the traveler would never refuse.
For he wasn’t in a position to refuse.
To him... any curse Gu Shen brought, no matter how small, couldn’t be missed.
A great snow swept over Black Snow Mountain, the traveler removed the "Heavenly Sheath Curse," the Dream shattered, and the scene returned to the deep alley. Gu Shen opened his eyes and kicked awake the slumbering Tomb Ghost.
"..."
Tomb Ghost, pale and lips dry, looked up at Gu Shen.
Their gaze traversed from the real world to Black Snow Mountain and back to the real world. It seed only a few seconds passed, yet it felt like years... after a long silence.
"Did you see it?"
Gu Shen opened his mouth calmly.
