"Boom—"

The deep rumble echoed through the narrow passageway.

A dazzling blade light sliced through.

Mu Wanqiu sheathed her sword and stood still, looking at yet another stone wall she had smashed, with a black portal appearing behind it. She held her breath, glancing towards Gu Shen.

A mont later.

Gu Shen shook his head.

"Ora ora ora—"

The Judge acted again, picking up countless stones to block the wall, sealing the shattered portal once more.

The entire maze returned to silence.

And those ancient scripts engraved on the stone wall changed again as the portal vanished... Although Gu Shen couldn’t understand the ancient texts, he could clearly sense the changes beyond the stone wall.

The dangerous signals coming from the cross pendant fluctuated constantly.

This was the way to "leave" here.

Simple and crude, not much brainpower needed, just ti-consuming.

Theoretically... without understanding the ancient texts, you can’t leave here.

But for Gu Shen, who possessed "absolute correct intuition," finding the right portal was just a matter of ti... After roughly confirming the "rules" of this maze, he didn’t even need to move much, just stand in a fixed position and keep breaking through the sa stone wall in front.

What followed... all he could do was wait patiently.

"Break."

"Break again."

Gu Shen spoke ti and again.

Mu Wanqiu swung her sword repeatedly.

The sound of sword cries and walls shattering echoed continuously in the underground maze.

Given the special nature of the "Goddess of Destiny’s Sanctuary," it was hard to explain and inconvenient to expose... Each ti Mu Wanqiu shattered a stone wall, Gu Shen had to "carefully" study it for a mont to pretend he was seriously divinating.

Mu Wanqiu didn’t notice this at all.

However, sothing out of Gu Shen’s expectation happened.

In such monts, Mu Wanqiu’s patience was surprisingly good. She had slashed the sa stone wall hundreds to thousands of tis over several hours, each result "failing"... Yet she did not get angry, not even a hint of impatience.

After careful observation.

Gu Shen discovered that this mad woman hit the sa spot with each swing, with lighter force each ti, achieving better shattering effects. Was she using this opportunity to practice swordsmanship and study the wall’s properties?

With each swing over these hours, Mu Wanqiu beca more precise and powerful.

The Judge’s speed in repairing the portal also increased...

As expected of the Northern Continent people, they have "warlike" blood flowing in their veins.

Unfortunately.

Despite breaking through repeatedly, he hadn’t encountered the theoretically possible "safety signal."

Every ti a new portal appeared, the pendant sent back a weak spirit signal, and each signal was remarkably consistent.

["Danger."]

["Danger."]

["Extrely dangerous."]

Each transmitted signal was a warning of danger!

Gu Shen knew that being trapped in this underground maze was not necessarily a bad thing; during this ti, his energy had sowhat recovered... But just how long would it take to find the correct portal by slashing endlessly?

Could it be... was there sothing wrong with his hypothesis?

Who designed these broken portals, with such malicious intent and in such vast numbers...

Gu Shen inwardly despised the designer of this ancient ruin.

"Boom!"

A sudden explosive sound abruptly pulled Gu Shen’s thoughts back to the real world; this ti, the disturbance was particularly intense, causing even the faint Chi Huo at his brow to flicker!

Sothing had changed...

The signals from the cross pendant were also different from before!

Two different dangerous signals rged into one.

Gu Shen’s pupils contracted.

"Close the door quickly!"

Fixing his gaze on the door with cold sweat dripping from his forehead, he instinctively shouted in a slightly hoarse voice.

Mu Wanqiu, holding the long sword, stood behind the pitch-black chaotic portal, her phoenix eyes squinting, frowning at the four-sided portal filled with "chaos." For so reason... she, too, felt an ominous premonition this ti.

Before Gu Shen finished speaking, the Judge acted.

A gigantic snow-white ghostly figure unfolded its arms, unleashing countless phantoms in an instant to seal the stone wall.

...

...

After the stone wall closed.

Gu Shen let out a long breath.

Mu Wanqiu glanced at the still-nervous Gu Shen, confusedly asking, "What did you see?"

The previous portal breaches didn’t elicit such intense reactions; could there be a living being behind this portal ready to break through?

Upon this thought.

Mu Wanqiu paused, as if there really was one.

"It’s ng Xiao..."

Gu Shen stared at the closed stone wall, gradually calming a sense of ominous foreboding, and explained seriously, "ng Xiao was just behind that portal!"

Two different danger signals rged and were transmitted into the Spirit Sea by the cross pendant.

One from ng Xiao!

The other... from the unknown beyond the portal.

The true source of Gu Shen’s fear wasn’t ng Xiao, but that unknown sensing... breaking [doors] hundreds of tis in a row was the most dangerous sensing signal returned by the pendant!

Took a deep breath.

"Heh..."

Gu Shen tugged at the corner of his mouth and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

ng Xiao had indeed arrived here.

Moreover... he was teleported to an extrely dangerous place behind a [door].

This was truly an enjoyable piece of good news.

Though he was tornted by countless broken [doors] here, seeing ng Xiao in more pain than himself, Gu Shen felt relieved.

Mu Wanqiu pondered slightly and understood why Gu Shen was laughing.

Schadenfreude is an inherent trait of all humans... thinking of this, the corners of her lips lifted slightly too, but soon returned to normal.

For her, as long as ng Xiao was still alive.

That could not be considered good news.

Mu Wanqiu slowly sheathed her sword.

She didn’t continue to chop the stone wall in front of her but suddenly asked a question unrelated to breaking walls: "Why are you being chased by ng Xiao?"

Gu Shen pondered in vain, then let out a long sigh: "Being hunted... needs a reason?"

"Of course."

Mu Wanqiu said softly: "There is a reason for everything in this world. If ng Xiao ca here just to summon the ’Light God’s Seat’, why would he be so persistent, even jumping into the ’Nether River’, to kill you..."

"What if I said ’I don’t know’, would you believe ?"

Gu Shen shrugged, looking directly into Mu Wanqiu’s eyes, and said calmly: "But that’s indeed the case. I first ca to this land of the North Continent, completed the Gu Castle mission, and was targeted by ng Xiao... who knows why he’s crazily determined to hunt down."

After hearing this, Mu Wanqiu’s expression didn’t change much.

She quietly held her sword and just stared at Gu Shen, her face saying "continue."

"Alright then..."

Gu Shen smiled.

This question seed impossible to brush off easily.

Mu Wanqiu seed simple-minded on the surface... but this woman wasn’t a fool. Apart from her S-level intuition, she did have so brains.

"Since you even know the ’Nether River’, what else couldn’t you guess?"

Gu Shen said mildly: "ng Xiao’s pursuit of is probably just the light versus darkness dichotomy... he believes I’m ’darkness,’ so naturally he would chase ."

"But..."

Mu Wanqiu’s expression finally showed so change, she furrowed her brows slightly, puzzled: "Why would ng Xiao think you are... dark?"

The reason she concealed her own Calamity Dream was that she sensed this dream was likely related to the "Netherworld King."

Twenty years ago, that Netherworld King left plenty of shadows on the Five Continents.

Mu Wanqiu’s concealnt was her own protection.

In the nightmare, her [Judge], gazed towards the end of the Nether River, at that majestic figure seated on the Throne, eyes full of longing, offering a reverent salute.

But the Gu Shen before her...

That unremarkable "flicker of fla," no matter how you looked at it, seed to have no connection with the Netherworld King.

"Those who deem themselves as people of light, of course, believe they have the right to judge ’darkness.’

"And those who are against their views, opposing light’s interests, can all be darkness."

Gu Shen laughed indifferently and said: "If he thinks I’m dark, then I can only be dark... and the irrationality of being hunted is because it doesn’t require the other party’s consent. ng Xiao wields a knife to kill . I can’t win, so I can only run. He started chasing from Black Snow Mountain, leaving no choice but to jump into the ’Nether River’, and when he kept chasing relentlessly, I could only escape through this door."

Very simple logic.

Also very cruel.

Mu Wanqiu suddenly found herself with no words, only feeling a slight sense of relief in her heart. If her own "Dream" was leaked, would the unfortunate soul targeted by Light City be herself?

"Let’s try again... this ti, we change locations."

Gu Shen extended his finger, pointing to the end of the line of sight.

Mu Wanqiu was slightly startled, "Change locations?"

"If... the ancient texts here are replaced arbitrarily, then perhaps a large area has been marked as ’dangerous.’ In such a zone, no matter how many [doors] appear, there’s only the path of death to choose from." Gu Shen said slowly: "To avoid this possibility, we should set the [door] in an area where ’life’ has appeared."

Mu Wanqiu’s eyes lit up with a strange brilliance: "Which ans... the stone wall I first chopped."

The two returned to the very first stone wall.

They exchanged a glance.

Gu Shen seriously pointed to a specific point on the stone wall.

He gently inhaled, "Break."

Mu Wanqiu drew her sword.

With this strike, she shattered the stone wall dramatically.

["Danger."]

The signal sent back by the cross pendant had been seen countless tis.

Gu Shen wasn’t discouraged. He shook his head. When the Judge took action to nd the stone wall, he spoke again.

"Break again."

Mu Wanqiu swung her sword once more.

This ti, after the stone wall exploded, it radiated a different brilliant stream of light.

Under the veil of streaming light, a [door] entwined with countless gray air currents erged.

This ti, it seed different...

Mu Wanqiu nervously looked toward Gu Shen.

Silently clutching the pendant, Gu Shen stared at that gray portal for a long ti, then smiled wearily and said: "These broken doors, finally broke."
