"Where are you now?" Nathan Foster asked him in a deep voice.
"With Miss Sutton picking out gifts. Old Master Sutton’s birthday is in a few days," South Grant replied naturally.
"Co back," Nathan’s voice carried displeasure.
But South Grant, as if he didn’t hear, said with so difficulty, "Can’t do that. I promised to have dinner with Miss Sutton tonight. You go ho first, eat sothing casually, and I’ll return later."
At this mont, a voice from the other end of the line called out to South Grant, and he hurriedly said into the phone:
"That’s it, then. Miss Rosalind is calling . I’ll go check, got to hang up now."
South Grant finished speaking and hung up the phone. Nathan Foster held the phone in a daze, looking at the ended call, taking a while to co to his senses.
Beside him, Ivan Keller watched and silently lit a candle for South Grant in his heart.
It was the first ti Nathan had soone hang up on him like this. He could already imagine the "intense confrontation" when they et tonight.
At this mont, Nathan stood up. Behind his office was a bedroom. After going inside, taking off his military uniform, and changing into casual clothes from the wardrobe, he went out the door.
Ivan watched as Nathan, in his usual shirt and trousers, carried an imposing aura, making such ordinary clothing appear regal due to his tall stature and commanding presence.
"Chief, where are you going?" Ivan felt the chief seed to have forgotten him, having changed clothes and left just like that.
"When Old Master Sutton’s birthday is coming, I’m going to pick out a gift for him."
Ivan’s expression was this:

By the look in his eyes, he confird this was a tsundere dog saying one thing but aning another.
Clearly wanting to find South Grant, but claiming it was to pick a birthday gift for Old Master Sutton.
When can’t a gift be selected? Why rush when he just returned and has a pile of work to do?
Clearly going to catch soone in the act.
Ivan dared not hesitate and hurriedly followed along.
Soon, there’d be an explosive scene that he wouldn’t want to miss for anything.
Ivan drove Nathan personally, naturally aware of South Grant’s whereabouts.
Dodo and Didi were always shadowing South Grant, and with just a call, they sent over his exact coordinates.
When the car arrived, Rosalind was still browsing.
Ivan opened the door for Nathan, watching him walk straight toward South Grant and Rosalind at the counter, still selecting gifts.
Once Nathan entered, the store’s staff and other custors were inevitably drawn to him; whispers ensued:
"Who is this guy? So manly!"
"Yeah, so dashingly aggressive."
Amidst such murmurs, Nathan stood before South Grant.
South turned and saw Nathan standing behind him.
"Why are you here?" South appeared quite surprised.
"Picking a gift for Old Master Sutton," Nathan replied coolly.
"Ah? Oh."
Rosalind also noticed Nathan’s arrival and greeted him with a nod.
"Deputy Chief, long ti no see."
"Hello, Miss Sutton," Nathan’s voice was aloof, devoid of any further emotion.
Then Nathan turned to Rosalind and said, "Hope Miss Sutton doesn’t mind if South helps pick a gift,"
"Of course not."
As soon as Rosalind spoke, Nathan’s hand landed on South’s shoulder, forcefully steering him toward another counter.
