Chester Lynch stood right beside South Grant, listening to the people from the police station. After they finished speaking, he frowned and said:
"Director, this isn’t South’s fault."
The director of the First High School hesitated for a mont after hearing this.
He naturally knew it wasn’t South Grant’s fault. The person who tripped South Grant was Marcus Shaw’s cousin, and Marcus Shaw’s grandfather happened to oversee their school, making it difficult to hold either accountable.
The Lynch Family’s background was sothing they couldn’t provoke either, leaving only South Grant.
"The police station will make a judgnt on this matter. Chester, neither the school nor the police will pursue this matter with you. You can go ho now."
The director gave Chester Lynch a knowing look as he spoke.
Chester Lynch acted as if he didn’t see it, and spoke directly to the police:
"We fought together, so it doesn’t make sense for one to stay and one to go. I’ll go to juvenile detention for half a month of study with South Grant!"
Juvenile detention ans entering a place that records your history, following you for life.
No matter which job you apply for, they’ll find out just by checking your record.
"You... this... Chester, this has nothing to do with you. Don’t get involved, this isn’t the ti to talk about loyalty!" the director said sternly.
If Chester Lynch had any issues, how would they answer to The Lynch Family?
"Director, this isn’t about loyalty, it’s a human moral obligation," Chester Lynch said, ending the conversation.
The director was speechless, unable to respond to Chester Lynch’s words.
In the end, Chester Lynch refused to leave, and the director and the police couldn’t do anything. They were left in the police station, not sent to the detention center yet.
After the director from the First High School left the police station, he called The Lynch Family, not ntioning South Grant’s na, just explaining the situation and Chester Lynch’s determination to stay.
Later, the director assured The Lynch Family repeatedly that this incident of Chester Lynch fighting would not be recorded.
The Lynch Family then said they would send soone to bring Chester Lynch ho the next day, thinking a night of hardship might do him good and stop him from blindly standing up for friends.
In the police station, there were only two officers on duty at night.
South Grant and Chester Lynch were in the temporary holding cell, with only two chairs and nowhere to sleep.
Sitting inside, looking at each other, they couldn’t help but laugh.
"We’re real blood brothers now," South Grant laughed, "We’ve fought together, been through thick and thin together, though it’s through iron bars."
Chester Lynch laughed at her words, then glanced around his surroundings.
"I really never thought I’d have an experience like this in my life."
"This ti I dragged you down. If you ever need anything, just ask. I can’t climb mountains or cross seas of fire, but anything within my power, I can still help with," South Grant said with a calm expression.
Listening to her words, Chester Lynch realized how much South Grant had changed.
In just a month, it seed as though she’d beco a different person. The old South Grant walked with slouched shoulders, lacking any spirit or confidence, and it was evident when she looked at people.
Now, although it’s the sa face, the feeling she gives off is entirely different.
The humor in her words, the calm deanor, there’s always an indescribable feeling.
He’s clearly the sa person, but also seems like a different one.
