After the domineering man pulled her into the office, he let go of her, sat at his desk, began to review docunts, and didn’t speak or even glance her way, as if she were not present at all.
Enna Clark didn’t understand what exactly he was up to, bit her lip, and stood still for a while before slowly calming down. She walked over to the water dispenser, found a glass, poured herself a cup of water, and placed it on the coffee table.
She then returned, took another cup, rummaged through the cabinets, and found what she was looking for to add to the cup. She took out a third cup, filled it with hot water, and waited there.
The man apparently engrossed in his work at the desk subtly furrowed his brow and couldn’t help but steal a glance in her direction.
He saw Enna Clark busily moving back and forth, pouring water from one cup to another…
What was she doing?
Baron Lawrence frowned again.
Unbeknownst to him, his attention had been drawn to Enna Clark once again.
Enna repeatedly used the cups to cool down the boiling hot water, pouring it back and forth countless tis until the temperature of the water finally decreased.
Her legs numb from standing, she quickly poured the now-warm water into the initial cup, stirred it with a spoon, curved her mouth into a smile, her eyes also bending, and carried the cup towards the desk.
Baron Lawrence didn’t know why, but as she turned around, he swiftly shifted his gaze back to the docunts, kept a straight face, and pretended he hadn’t been looking at her at all.
When he realized what he had done subconsciously, his handso face turned dark.
Damn it, what was he doing?
What was he hiding from?
So what if he had looked? What was the big deal? Why did he feel like a thief, afraid that this woman would discover him?
If he wanted to look, he would look. What did it matter!
Baron Lawrence’s eagle-like eyes grew sharp, betraying a hint of irritation, and with a fierce movent he put down the docunts, looked up, and again openly gazed at Enna Clark.
That look was piercing and vaguely tinged with annoyance.
Enna Clark, unaware that he had been covertly watching her the whole ti, was startled to see him put down his work and look at her. Her heart skipped a beat, and then she placed the water cup on his desk. In a soft voice, she said, “I’ve poured you a cup of water, rember to drink it when you’re thirsty. You’re busy, so I won’t disturb you. I’ll wait until you’re finished.”
After saying that, just as she had stated, she moved purposefully towards the sofa, sat down quietly, picked up the cup she had placed there earlier, and gently sipped. She even conscientiously silenced her phone and started browsing it while she drank.
Baron Lawrence felt like his punch had landed on cotton, breeding an indescribable sense of frustration.
What was this woman playing at now?
Perhaps a ga of cat and mouse?
His chest felt a restless agitation, as if there was a lump of air that wouldn’t go up or down.
His throat really was sowhat uncomfortable now.
His gaze inadvertently swept over to the cup of water Enna Clark had left beside him. He stared at it for a mont, his face taut, as if he harbored a deep grudge against the cup, his brow tightening and then loosening, then tightening again, for a full three minutes before he finally picked up the water cup and took a sip.
All the fussing Enna Clark had done earlier, he hadn’t known for what; but now, as the warm honey water went down his throat, he imdiately understood what that woman had been up to for so long!
