Nicholas Lawrence finally gave in to complete disappointnt, not saying another word, and hung up the video call.
He had hung up the call without uttering an unnecessary word, an unprecedented situation!
After the vast drawing room returned to its forr tranquility, the housekeeper bravely refilled a warm cup of water and placed it in front of him. Though he initially didn’t want to speak, he couldn’t help but urge, “Old Lord, why did you have to talk to Young Master Nicholas with that attitude just now? Actually, your intention for the First Young Lady to marry has no business motives. It seems like Young Master Nicholas has misunderstood.”
“Let him misunderstand. He just needs to know that there’s no room for turning back on this matter.”
If there had been even a hint of uncertainty in his attitude, Nicholas would certainly think he could persuade him to change his mind.
