After leaving, he even courteously closed the door to the sickroom.
The man lying on the hospital bed shifted, appearing to want to sit up.
Enna Clark saw this and imdiately approached, “Baron Lawrence, what are you doing? Don’t move around. Just call if you need anything.”
The worry and urgency were plain on her face. Baron Lawrence’s mood, initially irritable due to the doctor’s words, softened considerably. His face, sharply contoured, issued commands naturally as his thin lips quirked, “Help with the pillow; I want to sit up.”
Enna Clark had no choice but to do as he asked and propped a pillow against his back, supporting him at a 45° angle on the hospital bed.
Before she could catch her breath, she heard the man’s natural command by her ear, “Peel an apple for ; I want to eat!”
“You’ve just woken up. It’s best not to eat anything cold and hard. If you’re hungry, I can ask Mr. Harris to bring you so plain rice porridge.”
“Nagging!” He was as insistent with Enna as ever, his stance firm, “I don’t want plain rice porridge; I want you to peel an apple for !”
His deanor involuntarily reminded Enna of Bobby.
Whenever Bobby was in a bad mood or upset, he would use that sa tone.
Based on her experience with Bobby, she knew that reasoning wouldn’t work at this ti, and the best solution was simply to indulge their wishes.
Seeing the bandage on the man’s head and his slightly pale lips, her heart softened. She took a fruit that Scott Harris had bought from the bedside table, pulled out a small knife, and began peeling it while sitting next to him.
As she peeled, soone continuously directed, “Enna Clark, don’t peel the skin too thick or too thin, and you know, I like it when there’s so unpeeled skin left on top.”
“Don’t break the skin; make it look nice.”
“Right, did you wash your hands?”
“There, that spot is not properly peeled. Didn’t I tell you that I don’t eat apples with residual peel!”
Enna Clark went back and peeled the spot he ntioned clean.
She then resud peeling from where she left off, but accidentally, she broke the circular apple skin.
As expected, the individual on the bed imdiately started to complain discontentedly, “Enna Clark, are you a pig? Don’t break the skin. Start peeling a new one!”
Taking a deep breath, she could no longer hold back and lifted her head, “So annoying. Can you please be quiet!”
