Chapter 1553: Chapter 1553: I Want You Where I Can See You!
Scott Harris had already exited the vehicle first, and now he moved to the side to help open the car door.
“Lord, Ms. Clark.”
Enna Clark’s lips still tingled from their contact as she followed him out of the car.
Once she exited the vehicle, Enna noticed an entire shift in the man’s deanor by her side.
When they were alone together, Baron Lawrence’s presence was also dominant and attention-grabbing. But as commanding as it was, it wasn’t nearly as forbidding and distant as it felt now.
The receptionist greeted them as soon as they entered, “Good day, President Lawrence.”
“Good day, President Lawrence.”
“President Lawrence.”
“Good day, President Lawrence.”
People greeted them along the way. Baron Lawrence’s features were stark and his obsidian-like eyes did not waver. Led by Scott Harris, he held Enna Clark’s hand firmly, entering the President’s exclusive elevator.
The elevator doors closed with a ding.
It wasn’t until the front desk and so of the employees who had been lucky enough to encounter him dared to speak—
“Phew, I was scared to death just now. When the president walked past , I almost forgot how to breathe.”
“So did I. The mont he brushed past , I couldn’t even breathe. But why did the president co back so suddenly? It seems no one in the company got the mo.”
If they had received news, the heads of the major departnts would have surely been waiting down there to greet him.
This morning’s event was sothing scarcely any employee of the Lawrence Family company was unaware of. Imdiately, soone guessed, “Could it be that the president ca back because of… the Vice President resigning?”
“So, are you saying that the internal company rumor is true? The Vice President really plans to compete with the president?” She murmured in a muffled and unclear manner, yet her implication was obvious.
Another person quickly caught on, whispering with the sa guarded secrecy, “Don’t TV series often show feuds among the wealthy? Forget the TV series, even in Yluria Country, wasn’t there a story about a major family conflict that surfaced recently, a dramatic and more thrilling saga than any TV show could offer? I think that rumor must be true.”
“…I don’t know. But now that the president is back, let’s see what he does next. Okay, let’s stop talking about this, we need to be careful or we might get fired before anything even happens in the company.”
At that, everyone quickly dispersed.
It was as if the gossip had never happened.
The chit-chat at the reception desk certainly couldn’t be heard by Enna Clark inside the elevator.
Just before the doors were set to open, Baron Lawrence squeezed her hand tightly and suddenly said, “Enna Clark, stay close to when we get out, understand?”
Overbearingly demanding.
The main issue was, had he forgotten that Mr. Harris was still in the elevator?
However, Enna knew that he couldn’t be in a good mood during such tis and acquiesced, “Okay, I understand.”
Baron Lawrence pushed further, “You need to be where I can see you! Whenever I want to see you, you should be in sight!”
She wasn’t going to run away!
“Hmm.”
Baron Lawrence furrowed his brows and tightened his grip on her hand once more.
Damn it, had this woman gone mute, only knowing how to utter ‘hmm’ and ‘okay’?
At tis like these, any smart woman would seize the opportunity to comfort him, even if it ant making small talk.
Yet she didn’t react at all, as if she knew nothing!
A surge of frustration rose to Baron Lawrence’s chest, struggling to find an outlet. His handso face darkened, and he gripped her hand firmly—as if with a vice—pulling her close to his side.
