Chapter 1683: Chapter 1673: Finally coaxed to sleep
Bobby’s face turned bright red, not because of pain, but because his pride was hurt.
If anyone else had dared to hit him like this, he would have fired up imdiately.
Bobby’s pale little face remained tense, and one could vaguely see the outline of a future heartbreaker. He pursed his lips tightly, stubbornly glaring with those identical eyes and said, “Anyway, I’m not going back to the hotel!”
“But you still need to take your dicine, right?” Enna Clark knew he felt guilty and didn’t force him to leave.
Bobby’s taut lips finally relaxed a bit, “This is a hospital, there’s dicine everywhere, I don’t have to go back to the hotel to take it. I’ll take it right here.”
Enna Clark touched his still cool forehead, estimating he had a low fever, and added, “You also need to sleep in the hospital for a while.”
“I…”
“If you don’t agree, I’ll call Hayes and have him take you back.” On this matter, Enna Clark was not negotiating.
Bobby knew he had only two choices: go back to the hotel or be obedient. Though he was worried about that little fool still in the operating room, he compromised, “I’ll just sleep a bit, but I can’t guarantee I’ll actually sleep!”
Enna Clark laughed silently and took him to find the doctor.
The doctor simply asured Bobby’s temperature; indeed, he had a low fever.
It was probably caused by the wind at night and the fright he had.
Luckily, it was discovered early, and after prescribing the dicine, the nurse arranged a hospital room.
Bobby stayed in the VIP Hospital Room, which looked like a hotel suite in terms of both facilities and size.
Enna Clark watched him take his dicine and then firmly insisted he rest in bed.
Bobby was still worrying about Gigi, so even after taking the dicine, he showed no signs of sleepiness. He kept his eyes open, seemingly determined to stay awake until Gigi’s surgery was over.
Enna Clark felt a sting in her heart but said nothing. She picked up a book of fairy tales from the side and said, “Can’t sleep? Let read you a story.”
Bobby saw the Grimm’s Fairy Tales book in her hand, pursed his lips, and unhappily stressed, “Enna Clark, I am not a 4 or 5-year-old kid anymore!”
He had no interest in books like Grimm’s Fairy Tales.
“Yes, you are an 8-year-old kid.” Ignoring his sulky expression, Enna Clark opened the book and began to read Sleeping Beauty, “A long, long ti ago, there was a very loving king and queen consort…”
“You’ve told this story at least three tis before!”
She didn’t hear him!
Enna Clark continued reading softly, “The witch cursed the beautiful princess, that if her finger was pricked by sothing sharp before she turned twenty, the entire kingdom would fall into a deep sleep…”
“That’s why I said this story is dumb. It’s not a big deal. Why don’t the king and queen consort directly tell the princess about the witch’s curse? Why go through so much trouble hiding sharp objects?”
Enna Clark’s temple throbbed a little, but she pretended not to hear and continued reading in a gentle voice, from Sleeping Beauty to The Ugly Duckling, to Snow White and A Thousand and One Nights. Finally, after finishing the fourth story, she heard the sound of steady breathing from the bed.
Finally asleep.
She carefully closed the book, tucked the blanket around the young boy on the bed, quietly watched his peaceful sleeping face for a mont, and then tiptoed out.
Bobby fell asleep, mainly because of the cold dicine. The dicine had a sedative component; she read him stories to watch over him until the dicine took effect.
Otherwise, with his stubborn nature, he would surely have stayed awake until Gigi was safe.
