I had a miscarriage.
As soon as these words were spoken, the entire room fell silent for a few seconds. Enna Clark instinctively turned her head to look at the man beside her, frowning curiously.
Why is Skye Lawrence telling Baron Lawrence this? Could it be that Skye’s miscarriage has sothing to do with Baron?
How co she didn’t know about this?
Baron Lawrence’s profile was stern and handso, his face as sharp as if carved from stone, without a trace of emotion. His eagle-like eyes looked at her coldly, and his thin lips moved slightly, "And then?"
Skye hadn’t expected him to be so indifferent, as if he had known about her miscarriage all along.
Could he really be so unconcerned despite knowing about her miscarriage?
Skye felt as if a stone had suddenly pressed down on her chest, making it hard to breathe. "And then?"
"You stopped just to tell this?" Baron Lawrence tightened his grip on Enna’s hand, an impatient look appearing on his face. "If this is all you wanted to say, I already knew."
"You already knew?" Hearing her assumption confird, Skye found it hard to accept for a mont.
Baron’s deep eyes fell on her with a sowhat complicated gaze, though it didn’t show on his face. He said coldly and calmly, "I’ve had soone keeping a close eye on your every move; I know everything you’ve been up to lately."
On the day Skye was transferred from the detention center to the hospital, he knew about her miscarriage. But so what?
Even if she had a miscarriage, it couldn’t change what she had done to Enna in the past!
He had said he would never forgive her, and he ant it. Besides, the child in her womb wasn’t lost because of him; it was Skye’s own guilty actions that Enna caught her for, resulting in her being sent to the police station. She couldn’t accept losing to Enna, couldn’t eat or sleep, and thus lost the child.
Is she now trying to hold him accountable for the child she lost, blaming Enna?
Baron’s gaze beca increasingly unfriendly as he subtly tightened his grip on Enna’s hand, positioning her slightly behind him protectively.
Enna was suddenly pulled behind him, utterly confused. Especially seeing the tense defensive posture of his back muscles, she was even more puzzled.
What is he doing...
Why suddenly pull her to the back?
And why so nervous?
Skye doesn’t seem to have done anything.
Being who she was, Skye naturally noticed Baron’s sudden display of coldness and defensiveness toward her. Without needing Baron to say a word, she already understood why he suddenly beca so wary of her.
She watched the tall, handso man subtly protect the person beside him, bitterness spread throughout her heart.
Am I so terrifying to him now?
Or has he co to care for Enna so much that he wants to nip even the slightest hint of danger in the bud for her?
Despite the bitterness in her heart, Skye, after all, is still Skye. If she couldn’t manage her basic emotions, she wouldn’t have been able to make such a na for herself in the business world, instilling nervousness and pressure upon hearing her na. Rapidly adjusting her attitude, she pursed her lips and stated her aim, "I haven’t done anything. Recently, I’ve been in the hospital recuperating; even if I wanted to do sothing, I couldn’t, so you can be completely assured. I won’t do anything to her."
"I just want to say that I’ve already paid the price for my actions. Could you, for the sake of the child I lost, spare Oscar?"
