Anna gave Annan a fierce glare and chased after him.
Outside the small bar was a narrow alley, rarely busy during the day. Anna jogged to catch up and finally reached the man about to get into his car, "August, wait!"
August Oliver paused with the car door half-open, turning his head.
Breathless, Anna ran up to him, supporting her hands on her knees, taking deep breaths. Only after she had sowhat caught her breath did she stand up straight, pursing her lips as she looked at the man in front of her, "Are you okay?"
"I’m fine." August’s stomach was already burning with pain, but he stubbornly didn’t show it.
Anna didn’t believe he was fine. She reached out her hand to touch him, but for so reason pulled it back. She didn’t even know why she chased after him, awkwardly glancing at his car. "You plan to drive back yourself?"
"Yeah."
Anna imdiately beca agitated, disapproving, "You’ve drunk so much, how can you drive? Where are you going? Let take you."
She reached to pull the driver’s side door open.
August blocked her way, grabbing her wrist, his voice low and hoarse, "No need, Anna. I can manage on my own."
"You—" The excessive warmth from the man’s touch made Anna montarily dazed. She quickly withdrew her hand without insisting on helping him drive. Her gaze dimd sowhat, "I know you have your own reasons for wanting to disband the band. How could you easily give up sothing you love so much like music? It’s a pity I can’t help you. Annan and the others actually know, they just worry about you. You suddenly disappeared last ti. They searched for you a long ti. The manager suggested they attend events under the band’s na with just the three of them, but they refused. Annan was the most upset and nearly fought with the manager.
It’s just his impulsive nature. He really ans no harm. He’s the one who cares about you the most. Don’t take to heart what he said tonight. He only got so angry because he sees you as his closest brother."
"I know." August’s handso face was cold and lonely; those three words weighed a thousand pounds.
No one knew what he had gone through in these three months. Now, with one foot almost in hell, all he could do was push everyone away, so they wouldn’t get dragged down with him.
Anna thought he might say sothing, but all August said was a simple acknowledgnt. Her chest felt stifled, biting her lips, struggling to hold back her emotions. Her beautiful eyes brimd with unshed tears, "Are you really leaving? Not staying a bit longer?"
"Yeah, I have sothing to do."
Anna wanted to ask what, but now August felt distant. Although they used to drink, sing, and watch stars together, his identity had changed. Even knowing he’s still the sa, they can’t go back to what they were. She began to understand why Annan reacted so strongly; perhaps he too felt the sa frustration, "Alright, then you go ahead."
August stood tall, looking at her deeply, "Goodbye, Anna."
Anna’s heart suddenly clenched tight, her pupils nearly shrinking. On reflex, she reached out, grabbing his sleeve, suddenly blurting out, "August, I like you. From a long, long ti ago, since the first ti you worked at our bar, I’ve liked you. Not a word Annan said tonight was true except for when he said I liked you. That part is true."
