But Renee Anderson knew very well that Baron Lawrence had no need to respect her.
In front of this man, she wasn’t even as good as an ant. Now that he suspected her, he probably loathed her even more!
She quietly took a few deep breaths, forcing herself to look calmer. She pressed her lips together. "Didn’t you see it when you just came in, President Lawrence?"
"All I saw was Adam Sinclair passing out." Baron Lawrence said coldly.
Renee said, "He drank too much, he was drunk. I’d originally wanted to take him home. But he seemed really unfortable, so I found an Apartment nearby. After that, we had sex. He was exhausted plus drunk, he didn’t pass out."
This excuse was airtight.
Unfortunately, Baron Lawrence was not the type to talk logic. The way he looked at things and solved problems was pletely different from ordinary people. He was very direct, cutting straight to the root. "Heh. Whether he passed out or not, I can judge that for myself. Don’t bother putting on an act in front of me. I’ve already had someone call a doctor over. When he es out, the doctor will draw a tube of his blood and run a test. Then we’ll know exactly what’s in his bloodstream. Whether he was drunk, or someone set him up!"
When Renee heard those last three words, the calm expression she’d managed to hold onto finally cracked with a trace of frantic panic. She dug her nails hard into her palm just to barely hold herself together and face this man without shaking in fear. "Even if President Lawrence can prove he wasn’t drunk, can that prove that we didn’t sleep together?"
She’d used a very low, but very misleading tactic. She wasn’t afraid of the doctor ing. Even if the doctor examined her, she was seventy percent sure he would conclude that she and Adam Sinclair had had sex.
She knew there was no way to cover up the drugging. Once Adam woke up and checked, he’d be able to find countless holes.
She could refuse to admit it, swear she knew nothing, that she didn’t know who put something in his drink. Anyway, the bartender was already overseas; they definitely wouldn’t be able to find him for a while. And since she had ’slept with him’, she’d already achieved her goal.
Renee tried to fort herself like this, but in one corner of her heart she was still nervous to death.
If she had actually gone through with the plan and really slept with Adam Sinclair, she definitely wouldn’t be this nervous. But damn it, in the end she hadn’t been able to stick to the plan. She had no choice but to play a little trick and fake it. Fake is fake; there’s always a chance of being exposed.
Once it was exposed, everything she’d done would be worse than doing nothing from the start. At least then she wouldn’t have to be found out and lose even the right to be acquaintances.

"If President Lawrence doesn’t believe me, you can have the doctor check."
"Tch." Baron Lawrence let out a short, derisive laugh, his mocking gaze landing on her as if she were trash. "Even if you didn’t say it, I’d have it checked. But even if the results turn out exactly like you said, I still wouldn’t believe it."

"Because I don’t believe he’d be so desperate that he’d even touch a woman like you."
