Enna Clark slightly regained consciousness, feeling much clearer, and hastily said, "Baron Lawrence, I’m fine."
Her words only made things worse; as soon as she spoke, the man couldn’t control a low shout, "You’re crying in pain, how can you be fine!"
Enna shrank her neck instinctively from his shout but didn’t let go.
Seeing her pale face and startled look, Baron Lawrence immediately regretted losing control and yelling at her.
His handsome face stiffened as he forced all his anger down, "Let go, I’ll get the doctor to e check you. Isn’t your stomach hurting?"
Stomach pain?
Enna looked at him puzzled, unsure why Baron Lawrence was stubbornly thinking her stomach hurt. She shook her head and explained, "No, did you say I was crying? I wasn’t. I just opened my eyes, and the room lights hurt my eyes, making me tear up involuntarily."
She paused and said more earnestly, "I’m not unfortable, nor am I in pain, really..."
Hearing she wasn’t unfortable or in pain, Baron Lawrence’s tense and tight expression finally eased a bit, and he awkwardly stepped back, "If you feel unfortable anywhere, tell me immediately. Don’t hold it in!"
Enna felt amused and exasperated, "With you here, why would I hold it in? I’m not a ninja."
"You’re a tortoise, and there’s a type of tortoise that’s a ninja!" Baron Lawrence mercilessly retorted.
"..." He meant the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, right...
Enna’s mouth twitched, feeling extremely frustrated.
She really didn’t know how she resembled a tortoise; he always insisted she did, now even paring her to a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. This kind of man’s personality... so straightforward!
If it were any ordinary man, such a personality would probably mean a life destined for solitude.
But he was Baron Lawrence.
He had too many shining qualities, and these minor faults under the shine of his qualities became less noticeable.
