Mono examined it carefully.
The vent was located just a short distance above the stuck elevator car.
They just had to jump onto the car to crawl through.
However,
Mono looked up.
He had no idea how far this pitch-black, deep elevator shaft stretched up and down. If the elevator ca loose and fell, they would surely be left without a trace.
Mono backed away again and searched for a while, but he still couldn't find any other exit.
Now, two paths lay before him.
Either go back to the hanging Hospital beds or jump into the vent inside the elevator shaft.
After only a mont's hesitation, Mono returned to the side of the elevator door.
The risk of going back was much greater than the risk of the elevator shaft.
To find a new entrance by jumping across Hospital beds, they didn't know how many beds suspended in mid-air they would have to pass. If a single suspension rope had an accident during that ti, they would be finished.
But here, they only had to pass through one elevator shaft.
Which was better or worse could be seen at a glance; there was no need to think twice.
After a thought, Mono found a long piece of cloth and tied it around himself.
"Six, co here?"
Six silently walked to his side.
Mono placed the long cloth tied to his body into her hand. "Hold on tight, don't let go."
After so instructions, Six understood Mono's plan, nodded, and gripped the White Cloth in her hand.
With both of them ready, Mono jumped down.
*Bang!*
Mono landed on top of the elevator car, which imdiately began to shake.
*Creeeak!*
A piercing sound reached their ears.
Mono cursed inwardly; he knew this old equipnt was unreliable. Fortunately, he had prepared in advance.
But Mono didn't dare delay. He quickly ran to the other side of the elevator shaft, forcefully pulled open the ventilation duct cover, and flipped inside.
*Boom!*
At the very last mont as Mono's feet left the car, the elevator car suddenly plumted like an out-of-control mad bull.
Sparks flew as it vanished from sight in an instant, accompanied by a howling gale.
*Rumble, rumble!*
The sound of it racing away faded, but for a long ti, the sound of it hitting the bottom could not be heard.
Mono looked back, but he couldn't see anything in the pitch-black depths of the elevator shaft.
Wiping the non-existent cold sweat from his forehead once more, Mono looked up.
"Six, tie the long cloth to the edge of the door crack and crawl over."
Mono tightly secured his end of the long cloth to the ventilation duct opening. Six nodded.
The white long cloth was pulled taut.
Then, a small figure moved along the long cloth, inching forward while lying flat, like
a caterpillar, slowly moving over.
Mono didn't dare laugh.
He was afraid his laughter would cause the White Cloth to snap.
Six successfully crawled over, and Mono quickly pulled her in.
Clearly, Six wasn't afraid, nor did she need his comfort.
"Let's go?"
Mono bent over and slowly felt his way forward along the ventilation duct.
It was almost pitch black now; only the sound of footsteps and faint breathing echoed in the passage.
Six followed closely behind Mono.
After walking for a short while, a light suddenly appeared ahead.
They had reached the opening.
Mono slowed his movents and reached back to pat Six's head.
Six looked up in confusion.
Mono pointed ahead and then placed his hand over his mouth.
Six nodded.
Mono continued to crawl forward.
Finally, they reached the exit of the ventilation duct.
Looking out, he found that everything in his field of vision was pitch black.
And the light from just now turned out to be from a flashlight.
What kind of hellhole was this?
