Qin Yi thought for a mont and said, "Tomorrow afternoon, I’ll wait for you here."
"Okay, I should be able to make it back tomorrow afternoon."
The two agreed to et here tomorrow afternoon.
Lan Jiaojiao slung the dical box over her back, waved, and said, "Then I’ll go now, see you tomorrow! Oh, by the way, you pay for these two bowls of noodles."
Qin Yi smiled and nodded.
Lei Xiao nodded at Qin Yi and left with Lan Jiaojiao.
Qin Yi sighed slightly, seeing Lan Jiaojiao safe put his mind at ease.
Lei Xiao was driving a BMW, occasionally glancing at Lan Jiaojiao on the road, wanting to say sothing but stopping short.
Ultimately, he couldn’t hold back and asked, "Jiaojiao, you rejected , is it because of Qin Yi?"
Lan Jiaojiao was slightly stunned, her eyes flickered slightly, "Maybe!"
Lei Xiao frowned, "But I heard from your conversation just now, Qin Yi is married."
Lan Jiaojiao nodded, "His wife is very pretty and excellent!"
"Then why do you still..."
Lan Jiaojiao gave a faint smile, "Who says liking soone ans you have to possess them?"
Lei Xiao frowned, "But aren’t you tired this way? There’s obviously no result. Besides, he’s not worth you doing this."
"Whether it’s worth it or not, it’s not up to you to decide."
Lei Xiao got a little angry, "He’s just an ordinary person, worlds apart from us. Besides being sowhat good-looking, he has no other rits."
"Ordinary person?" Lan Jiaojiao looked at Lei Xiao with a half-smile, "How did you tell he’s ordinary?"
"We’re all Qi Refiners. If he were one, I would definitely sense the Qi flow fluctuations from him."
Lan Jiaojiao smiled silently, offering no further explanation. Qin Yi’s excellence needed no explanation.
Two hours later, Lan Jiaojiao arrived at a picturesque village, and by now, the sky had darkened.
A stone tablet stood at the village entrance, inscribed with the na "Xiaoshi Village."
"Here it is!"
The car stopped in front of a house built from earth and wood.
Lan Jiaojiao carried the dical box out of the car and went up to knock on the door.
Soon, the sowhat old wooden door creaked open, revealing an ordinary rural woman in her forties, though she looked like she was in her fifties.
"Immortal Doctor Lan, you’ve co?" The woman was very pleased to see Lan Jiaojiao. "Please co in!"
The woman stepped aside, and Lan Jiaojiao walked in, casually asking, "How’s Xiaozhen doing?"
"Thanks to Immortal Doctor Lan, Xiaozhen is much better now," the woman said gratefully.
Lei Xiao also stepped in, glancing around at the surroundings, with red bricks on the floor, simple and worn furniture, and plain cent walls with obvious signs of dampness.
"Take to see Xiaozhen."
The woman quickly led the way.
The rooms here connect to a main hall, each room connected by a small door.
Inside a small room, a girl of thirteen or fourteen lay pale on a bed, with an older girl of fifteen or sixteen attending to her.
The girl on the bed was Xiaozhen, and the one attending was her sister Xiaoi.
"Immortal Doctor Lan!" Xiaoi quickly stood up, greeted awkwardly.
Lan Jiaojiao smiled, walked over to touch Xiaozhen’s forehead, and then checked her pulse.
"She’s much better. I’ll prescribe so more dicine, and you should pay attention to her diet, give her foods like pig liver to nourish her Qi and blood."
The woman nodded hastily, full of gratitude, "Thank you, Immortal Doctor Lan."
Lan Jiaojiao looked at the sleeping Xiaozhen and said, "Last ti, I asked why Xiaozhen ended up like this, and you didn’t want to tell . Can you tell now?"
This family was just the three of them, the man died early. A few days ago they brought Xiaozhen to County Hospital for treatnt but couldn’t afford it, luckily eting Lan Jiaojiao.
At that ti, Xiaozhen had almost half of her blood lost, and she was in shock.
Lan Jiaojiao examined her, finding no other wounds on Xiaozhen except punctures on the artery of her arm.
She suspected Xiaozhen had gone into shock because of blood selling due to poverty, but during a follow-up visit, Lan Jiaojiao discovered sothing strange, all the young girls around here had punctures on their arms.
So, there was definitely sothing suspicious about this.
The woman looked troubled, "Immortal Doctor Lan, we thank you for treating Xiaozhen, but please don’t ask about this matter."
Lan Jiaojiao’s brows furrowed slightly, just as she was about to speak, there was a bang outside, as if the door was kicked open.
"Widow Liu, it’s your turn to donate blood today."
Outside ca a voice like a drake’s call.
Widow Liu was this woman; her husband had died early, so people in the village called her that.
Hearing the voice outside, both the woman and Xiaoi trembled simultaneously, their eyes filled with deep fear.
"Immortal Doctor Lan, please don’t co out."
The woman took Xiaoi and went out.
Lan Jiaojiao’s brows knitted tightly. The person outside ntioned blood donation, could Xiaozhen’s half-blood loss be related to this?
Lan Jiaojiao got up, went to the door, lifting a corner of the curtain to peek outside.
She saw three n standing outside, one aged over fifty, his face old, eyes gloomy, with a creepy smile on his face.
The other two were younger, in their twenties, stocky, arms folded, looking roguish.
"Village Chief, our family donated just ten days ago, didn’t we?" the woman asked softly, evidently quite fearful of the man in front of her.
The Village Chief rolled his eyes, that drake-like unpleasant voice rang again, "Didn’t you eat today, so you won’t eat tomorrow?"
The woman shrank back, humbly said, "But Xiaozhen almost died last ti, hasn’t recovered yet, can’t even get out of bed, withdrawing more from her would be fatal."
The Village Chief sneered, "Isn’t Xiaoi there?"
The woman pleaded, "Village Chief, Xiaoi has just recovered, she can’t be drawn again, last ti she almost didn’t make it."
"What do you an? You can’t take from this one or that one, do you want it to be ? Without fresh blood to sacrifice, if the Immortal gods get angry, the whole village will suffer, can you take the responsibility?"
The woman was full of pleading, bemoaned her situation, "But Village Chief, our family has already sacrificed twice this month."
"Widow Liu, do you an I’m unfair as the Village Chief, not going to other households, deliberately bullying yours?" the Village Chief’s gloomy eyes were full of threat.
The woman trembled slightly all over, "I don’t an that. Could we do this, Village Chief? How about we donate again next month, just spare these two children this ti, another draw would be their end."
The Village Chief was about to speak when suddenly his gaze shifted to Xiaoi, staring at her chest for a long ti, a lascivious smile crept onto his face, "Xiaoi is sixteen this year, right? She’s grown into a young lady."
With that, he stepped towards Xiaoi.
Xiaoi was so scared she hid behind the woman, trembling.
The Village Chief rubbed his fingers, his face full of lewdness, "Avoiding blood donation is possible, let Xiaoi co to my place for a chat, I’ll send her back tomorrow."
