She spoke quickly and raised the glass to down it, but before it could touch her lips, Zhou Mochen forcefully stopped her.

Zhou Mochen grabbed Xu Su’s wrist with one hand and snatched the glass with the other. After pouring the contents onto the floor, he slamd the empty cup on the dining table, his face dark. "Xu Su, you’re really sothing else. You’ve really got a knack for pissing off, don’t you?"

"..." Although she didn’t understand why he was angry again, Xu Su could tell that Zhou Mochen didn’t want her drinking hard liquor.

’Dammit! A man’s heart is truly a needle in the ocean.’

’I was wrong to listen to him...’

As the two of them stood in a stalemate, a soft chuckle suddenly ca from the side. "Sorry... you two go on. Just pretend I’m not here..."

Shen Chen seed genuinely unable to hold it in anymore. Once he started laughing, he didn’t even try to stop, looking like he was about to laugh until he cried.

"..."

Xu Su flushed with sha and anger. ’This guy is obviously laughing at for not getting it, isn’t he?’

But even with Shen Chen laughing like that, Zhou Mochen didn’t so much as glance his way. He just kept staring at Xu Su, his face dark.

He was clearly angry, waiting for her to soothe him.

Xu Su felt a headache coming on. ’In the past, there’s no way I would have ever tried to placate Zhou Mochen!’

But now... After hesitating for a few seconds, Xu Su pulled him out of the restaurant.

The mont they were out of Shen Chen’s sight, Xu Su wrapped her arms around Zhou Mochen’s waist and started to placate him. "I was wrong. Please don’t be angry."

"Wrong about what?" Looking down at the whorl of hair on the head of the girl in his arms, Zhou Mochen fought the urge to hug her back, asking calmly, "Tell , what were you wrong about?"

"...I shouldn’t have tried to drink that liquor."

"And?" His arm tightened around her waist. Zhou Mochen’s restraint lasted less than a minute before he couldn’t help hugging her back. He leaned down, his lips close to her ear, finding it hard to believe how slow she was being. "Is that all?"

Xu Su paused, then reluctantly added, "I shouldn’t have offered a toast to that group of lecherous old n."

She felt a little indignant. ’She really didn’t think she’d done anything wrong.’

’All she did was try to keep her sister’s wedding from getting awkward and prevent her brother-in-law from being targeted at work later. What was so wrong about that?’

’Sure, things went south at the wedding later, but she couldn’t have known that at the start!’

’How could she have predicted that after getting past the bosses, she’d still have to deal with Luo Shaofeng and his brother?’

Warm lips brushed against her ear as Zhou Mochen whispered, "Susu, from now on, when we’re out, don’t worry about ’the big picture.’ If you’re unhappy, don’t put up with it. If you need to make a scene, make one. I don’t ever want to hear about you humbling yourself to toast anyone ever again."

A thought occurred to him, and he added, "And if you run into thugs like that Little Huang Mao who get physical, stay away from them if I’m not there. Don’t try to confront them head-on... No, that’s not safe enough. How about this? What if I arrange a couple of bodyguards for you?"

Zhou Mochen’s attitude, as if danger lurked around every corner, left Xu Su speechless.

When she heard his final suggestion, she quickly shook her head in refusal. "No way! What would I do with bodyguards? I’m at school all day. Zhou Mochen, you’re making a mountain out of a molehill! The only reason I got hurt last ti was because I was at that banquet. I don’t normally co into contact with punks like Little Huang Mao."

Xu Su didn’t doubt that Zhou Mochen had the power to make First High School allow bodyguards to accompany her on campus.

But she couldn’t imagine what a bizarre spectacle it would be to have bodyguards following her around at school.

’Even ten years after she graduated, teachers would probably still be using her as a classroom anecdote.’

’Sothing about "a certain senior who had such a huge entourage, it was like she was filming a campus idol drama..."’

In her past life, when she attended university in Beijing, Xu Su had actually had bodyguards stationed within a hundred ters of her at all tis.

Back then, Xu Su wouldn’t even deign to give Zhou Mochen a proper look. He was insecure, paranoid, and gloomy. If Xu Su hadn’t insisted, he probably wouldn’t have even let her go to university.

He was terrified that Xu Su would deliberately cheat on him just to spite him, so he had people tailing her every move. The protection was just a bonus.

The mory of that shadow-like surveillance from her past life made Xu Su release her hold on Zhou Mochen’s waist. She took a step back, her brow furrowed tightly as she stared at him.

Her expression was dead serious. "Zhou Mochen, don’t you dare arrange for anyone to follow , or I’ll be genuinely angry. This is my last year of high school. Can you please just let finish it in peace?"

"Fine, no bodyguards," Zhou Mochen said, his gaze dropping to et hers, his eyes filled with sincerity. "Susu, can you promise you won’t let yourself get pushed around?"

"I can!" Xu Su nodded decisively, promising fervently, "You know my temper. No one can make swallow my pride. That toasting incident wasn’t even that big of a deal... I promise it won’t happen again, okay?"

Seeing that Zhou Mochen still looked unhappy, and knowing it was because he was upset that she’d been wronged, Xu Su’s heart softened. She smiled, sidled up to him, wrapped her arms around his neck, and stood on her tiptoes to kiss him.

To her surprise, he was being proud and refused to bend down to et her. Limited by their height difference, Xu Su could only reach his chin. She didn’t mind, planting a few kisses on his smooth jaw before burying her face in his neck to kiss his throat, right over his Adam’s apple.

Feeling the bob of his Adam’s apple, she even playfully suckled at it. It wasn’t until she heard a suppressed groan from above that she realized she might have gone too far...

Xu Su sheepishly let go, about to back away from the walking volcano. But in the next second, the man grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into the adjacent bedroom.

The bedroom where she had been sleeping for the past three days.

In a dizzying spin, Xu Su found her back against the bed. Before she could even sit up, Zhou Mochen was pressing down on top of her, their bodies flush against each other.

"Don’t pull away. Keep kissing . Xu Su, I love it when you kiss like that." As he murmured sweet nothings, his hands were busy. Finding her collar buttoned too tightly, he began to undo the buttons.

He’d only undone two before he couldn’t resist leaning down to kiss her skin. The hot breath fanning across her neck snapped Xu Su out of her daze.

A scene from the classroom that morning flashed through her mind. She shuddered and forcefully pushed his head away from the crook of her neck. Afraid he would press in again, Xu Su hastily clutched her collar and scrambled toward the corner of the bed.

Caught off guard, Zhou Mochen was pushed away. He looked up to see Xu Su’s panicked expression and froze for a second before letting out an amused huff. "That scared? I wasn’t going to do anything."

His tone grew more helpless as he spoke. "Even if I really wanted to, if you said no, would I ever force you?"

’Xu Su realized she was acting as if she were fending off a rapist... which made things a bit awkward.’

’She... wasn’t afraid of *that*. It was just that... she still had the mark Xi Zirong had left on her chest...’

’If Zhou Mochen saw that...’

Xu Su shuddered. Looking at the smiling man before her, she silently began to rebutton her collar.

She caught a glimpse of the area between his legs out of the corner of her eye, and her face flushed as she quickly looked away.

Zhou Mochen made no effort to hide it. He leaned back against the headboard and began to lant, "See what you did? You’re the one who started this, and now you’re not taking responsibility. In all of Beijing, you’re the only one who dares to torture like this."

Xu Su’s hand paused. After a brief pang of guilt, she snapped, "Are you saying you ’took responsibility’ for all the others who’ve turned you on?"
