Xu Su hesitated for a long mont before awkwardly calling out, "Master."

After the first ti, it was as if she’d broken through a barrier. She called out again, more naturally this ti. "Hello, Master. I ca to the Netherworld Sea to find an herb called a Sunset Flower."

Nanyang’s voice faltered. "The Sunset Flower? At your level, who would assign you a quest like that? That’s no different from sending you to your death!"

Xu Su froze, realizing in an instant. ’Was soone setting up?’

’I just joined the gang, I haven’t offended anyone. Why would this Outer Disciple try to get killed?’

Just then, the Outer Disciple who had assigned her the quest started ssaging her in the chat box, demanding a progress update. Xu Su quickly typed her reply: "Sorry, I’ve been looking for a long ti but couldn’t find it. I can’t complete the quest. You should find soone else."

Xu Su’s logic was simple. If she couldn’t complete the quest, she just wouldn’t get the reward.

The fact that she had almost died and wasted so much ti didn’t matter. ’Besides, didn’t I find a Master out of it?’

She was willing to let the sche go, but the other player wasn’t.

Gentle Sunflower: "What’s your problem, newbie? You didn’t say you couldn’t do it when you accepted the quest. Now I’ve been waiting all this ti, and you’re telling you can’t find it? Do you have any idea what will happen if this affects my master’s class quest? Can you take responsibility for that?"

The player’s aggressive tone infuriated Xu Su, but she wasn’t good at arguing and couldn’t think of a coback. Then, a long wall of text appeared from the other player: "My master is an Outer Elder. If you don’t finish this quest, believe , I’ll make it impossible for you to stay in the Qingtian Gang."

A rush of anger went to Xu Su’s head. Her fingers flew across the keyboard, making it CLACK furiously. "Fine! I’d like to see you try and make leave!"

"The Qingtian Gang..." Master You Shan said, looking over Xu Su’s profile. His voice was full of disdain. "Such a small-ti gang, yet so full of themselves."

"Little Susu, you’re my first disciple, which makes you a mber of my Qingxuan Sect. Hurry up and quit that Qingtian Gang and join us!" Nanyang was also getting annoyed. Even though he hadn’t chosen this disciple himself, they were officially master and student now. There was no way he was going to let soone else bully her.

"Can I? Can I really join the Qingxuan Sect at my level?" Xu Su was pleasantly surprised. The strict requirent to even be tested for the Qingxuan Sect was reaching the Foundation Establishnt Realm.

"Boss, say sothing. You’re the one who told to take her in. My disciple can’t be a mber of so other sect, can she?"

Xu Su then realized that Master Nanyang had only accepted her as a disciple because Si Xuan had told him to. Before she could say anything, a clear, low voice spoke. "Sika is in charge of this month’s recruitnt. Just let her know."

Xu Su froze. ’That’s a really nice voice...’

With the Sect Leader’s permission, Nanyang had Xu Su use the "follow" command, then led her to a Teleportation Array that took them straight to the Qingxuan Sect headquarters.

He coached her on how to quit the gang over voice chat.

"A disciple at your level doesn’t need approval to quit a gang. You can just click the ’Leave Gang’ button."

Following Nanyang’s instructions, Xu Su found the button and officially left the Qingtian Gang. She had been a mber for less than a day, so it’s not like she felt any sense of belonging.

She was a sweet-talker. Once she got used to it, the words "Thank you, Master," flowed easily.

Zhou Mochen walked in at that exact mont. He pushed the door open just in ti to hear her obediently saying "Master."

It was already dusk outside, but the study was still fairly bright. Zhou Mochen walked over to Xu Su’s side. "Who are you talking to?"

Xu Su shot him a look. She was still angry with him and had no intention of answering. With her hand on the mouse, she clicked to submit her application to the Qingxuan Sect.

"Little Susu, is soone there with you?" Her mic in the ga’s voice chat was still on; You Shan, Nanyang, and the others had all heard Zhou Mochen’s voice.

Xu Su felt a pang of embarrassnt and was about to turn off her party’s voice chat. But as she moved the cursor over the microphone icon, Zhou Mochen grabbed her arm and pulled her to her feet. Her hand slipped, and she wasn’t sure what she had accidentally clicked.

Hearing how they addressed her, Zhou Mochen’s brow furrowed. He stared at the computer screen, his tone lukewarm. "So this is the ga you were playing while ignoring my calls for three days?"

Xu Su, thinking her mic was off, didn’t hold back at all. "What?" she snapped angrily. "Are you going to control whether I play gas now, too?"

"You skipped lunch just to play this ga. You tell , should I have a say in it or not?"

Xu Su faltered. A glance at the ti showed it was already six in the evening. She had been so engrossed in her quests that she’d skipped lunch without even feeling hungry.

Zhou Mochen reached out, pulling her into his arms with a soft sigh. "Are you really that angry with ? Cruel enough to ignore for three whole days."

He was wearing a light blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his fair forearms. The lines of his muscles were beautiful, and Xu Su found herself staring for a mont.

"I want to go back to school tomorrow." Steeling herself, Xu Su pulled her hand away from his, taking half a step back to lean against the desk. "You said we’d talk when you got back from Beijing. Well, you’re back, so let’s talk. School started two weeks ago, and I’ve only been to two days of class. The college entrance exams are next year, I really don’t have ti to waste!"

Afraid he would bring up the topic of transferring again, Xu Su cut in first, "I’m not transferring schools. I have less than a year left. I really don’t want to have to adapt to a new school, new classmates, and new teachers!"

"Convince ." Zhou Mochen watched her quietly, his voice calm. "It’s been three days, Susu. Have you thought of a reason to persuade not to make you transfer?"

"..." Xu Su was at a loss for words. What kind of reason was there for not transferring? She hadn’t even considered needing one.

She was, however, quite clear on his reasons for wanting her to transfer.

Xu Su thought for a long ti before growing impatient. "I can’t think of anything," she said. "Just tell . What do I have to do to not transfer?"

"...If you won’t change schools, then at least change classes. Aren’t you good friends with Huang Feng? Switch to her class." Zhou Mochen rubbed his temples wearily. "Also, from now on, you’re coming ho to sleep every night, and you’ll co back for lunch, too."

"I can agree to the last two conditions, but I can’t change classes." Seeing that Zhou Mochen was no longer insisting she transfer schools, Xu Su’s tone softened, and she was more willing to talk things out. "I’m in the science track. What would I be doing transferring to a liberal arts class?"

Xu Su took Zhou Mochen’s hand, pulled him a little closer, and then wrapped her arms around his waist, trying to bargain. "Please don’t make change classes, okay? I really like my teachers right now... How about this? I promise I’ll get into a university in Beijing. Would that work?"

Xu Su knew that Zhou Mochen’s greatest wish was to take her back to Beijing with him; he’d even brought it up before.

Sure enough, upon hearing this, Zhou Mochen’s expression shifted. He then said, his tone unreadable, "You’re willing to go all the way to Beijing just to avoid changing classes."

Xu Su couldn’t help but shiver at the sour, jealous undertone in his words. The arm she had wrapped around Zhou Mochen’s waist tightened, and she quickly tried to placate him. "I just really don’t want to have to adapt to a new environnt. Don’t read too much into it."
