Living Only For Myself: Make Those Who Hate Me Regret It Chapter 243: "Impossible
Since they lived together, and given how closely Zhou Mochen paid attention to Xu Su, he could figure out if she’d had her period before with just a mont’s thought.
Before, being a guy, he hadn’t thought about such things. But now that Xu Su had gotten her period, he imdiately realized that having it only once every five months was definitely not normal.
"...I don’t want to go to the hospital, and I don’t want to take any dicine." Cornered, Xu Su dropped the pretense. She said defiantly, "Besides, isn’t it great to only get it once every five months? You have no idea how painful it is. I wish I never got it at all!"
"No. If sothing’s wrong with your health, you need to get it checked." Zhou Mochen looked down at her, his voice gentle but firm. "The pain is a symptom. Once you’re better, it won’t hurt anymore. If you don’t want to go to the hospital, I’ll have a doctor co to the house to check on you."
This was about Xu Su’s health, so she didn’t have a say in the matter. Zhou Mochen’s stance was so firm that even her feminine wiles would be useless.
Of course, Xu Su didn’t have the energy to use her wiles anyway. In the end, she gave him a helpless push. "Go ahead and call a doctor if you want. But right now, take to school!"
Zhou Mochen hesitated. "You’re in so much pain. Just rest at ho this afternoon."
"No way! Are you trying to make listen to you about everything again?" Xu Su glared at him indignantly. "Zhou Mochen, is that tyrannical streak of yours flaring up again?"
"I’ve always been able to go to school when this happens, so why can’t I now? Zhou Mochen, don’t push it!"
The way she looked like she was about to dredge up the past made Zhou Mochen surrender instantly. "Fine, fine, fine. I’ll take you to school."
Xu Su got her wish and went to school. But after spending the entire afternoon slumped over her desk in pain, unable to finish a single worksheet, she suddenly thought that maybe getting these cramps cured wouldn’t be such a bad idea after all.
’So what if the dicine is bitter...’
’Better to rip the band-aid off.’
During the break, classmates passing by her desk saw the girl slumped over it, and their hearts couldn’t help but skip a beat.
Xu Su’s face was pale with weakness, and even her lips had lost their color. She looked sickly and frail, but this only added to her delicate, vulnerable beauty, which was breathtaking to behold.
When Qian Jia returned with hot water, she was so stunned she froze. She stared blankly for two seconds before sighing. "If this were ancient tis, you’d be a true fem fatale—the kind of bewitching consort that brings ruin to a kingdom."
Without moving from her slumped position, Xu Su glanced up at her. "I wouldn’t be a consort. If I were going to be one of them, I’d be the empress."
"Okay, okay, just stop looking at ." Qian Jia hastily averted her gaze. "If I stare at you for too long, everyone else will start to look like plain old vegetables. I’ll never find a boyfriend at this rate."
"..." Xu Su was speechless for a mont. She took the water bottle. "Did you and Xu Ran break up?"
"We did. We were just playing house, really. It wasn’t as serious as you and God Xi."
Xu Su paused and looked at Qian Jia seriously. Seeing the nonchalant look on her friend’s face, she relaxed. She took a sip of the hot water and said consolingly, "Well, if you broke up, you broke up. We’ll just find soone better in college."
"The better guys won’t be into . The better guys all go for the *best* girls, like you." Qian Jia’s dejection lasted less than two seconds before she was leaning over excitedly. "Susu, you should beco a huge celebrity! I can be your assistant."
Xu Su was speechless. "You’re so random."
"I’m serious! You don’t know what to major in, right? Just go take the entrance exams for an arts academy! With a face like yours, you’d sail right through, believe ."
Qian Jia grew more and more excited as she spoke. "If you beco a big star, I can ride your coattails. It’ll be so much easier to et my favorite idol."
"Who’s your idol?" Xu Su asked, curious. She’d known her for ages and had never seen her fangirl over anyone.
"Zhao Yuansi! You know, the super, super handso Zhao Yuansi! He’s the one who sings ’Sunny Day Rain,’ and he even directed his own movie. He’s so talented!"
"He is pretty handso." Xu Su didn’t follow the entertainnt industry, but the na was familiar.
Qian Jia, full of enthusiasm, urged her, "Do it, do it."
It was as if Xu Su would beco a huge star the mont she nodded...
"...The arts academy is out of the question. I’m aiming for University B." A look of exasperation crossed Xu Su’s face as she pushed Qian Jia’s eager face away. "But if I get the chance, I’ll help you et your idol."
’Who says you have to beco a celebrity just to et one?’ Xu Su recalled that in her past life, Shen Chen had an entertainnt company. If he was the one running it, it definitely wasn’t so small-ti operation.
Xu Su had only said it casually, but Qian Jia took her completely at her word. Her eyes lit up. "Susu! My dearest Susu! My only chance to ever get close to Zhao Yuansi in this life rests on your shoulders!"
"..." After all of Qian Jia’s antics, Xu Su felt like her stomach cramps weren’t quite as bad.
There was only an hour and a half between the end of classes and the start of evening self-study. The schedule was tight, so Xu Su always ate in the cafeteria with Huang Feng and Qian Jia.
She hadn’t eaten much for lunch, so Xu Su had a hearty appetite for dinner.
Partway through the al, Zhou Mochen called. It was just her period, but he was acting so anxious it made Xu Su feel a little helpless. She brushed him off with a few cursory words and hung up.
Huang Feng and Qian Jia were long past being surprised by the way Zhou Mochen and Xu Su interacted.
The three of them were eating and chatting when Huang Feng suddenly lowered her voice and leaned in conspiratorially. "Gu Yunjia ca to school this afternoon."
Qian Jia was deeply disappointed. "From the way you were acting, I thought you had so juicy gossip. Our whole class already knows about that!"
"But do you know *how* she got here?" Huang Feng had a knowing look on her face, her voice dropping even lower. "I heard she was dropped off by a car across the street from our school, still a good distance from Second High. It was like she was trying to avoid being seen. A student from our school just happened to see her get out of the car."
City No.1 High School is across the street from City No. 2 High School...
Xu Su was puzzled. "What’s so strange about that? Isn’t her sister a student at Second High?"
"That’s the thing. Her sister wasn’t in the car, and after Gu Yunjia got out, she ca straight to our school instead of looking for her sister." Huang Feng finished, her expression suddenly growing complicated. "And another thing... it was an Audi. Probably worth over six hundred thousand."
’...So?’
Seeing the looks on Huang Feng and Qian Jia’s faces, Xu Su’s heart skipped a beat as she suddenly understood. "You’re reading too much into it. Don’t make wild assumptions about a classmate."
"Right, right! Gu Yunjia is way too proud for that. It’s impossible." Qian Jia quickly sat up straight and repeated, "Impossible."
Her tone made it sound like she was trying to convince herself.
Huang Feng sighed. "I hope it’s impossible too, but the people who saw it described it in such vivid detail. They said there was a middle-aged man in the car."
"Don’t say any more. No matter what other people are saying, let’s not be the ones to spread it." Qian Jia glanced around nervously. "Rumors can destroy a person’s life."
"I’m only telling you guys. Of course I wouldn’t go around spreading it." They had all been on good terms with Gu Yunjia before, so their first reaction to the news was anger. Huang Feng had been especially skeptical, only giving up after asking for every last detail.
A heavy feeling settled in Xu Su’s heart.
’A middle-aged man, an Audi, deliberately stopping far from the school to avoid being seen...’
