Living Only For Myself: Make Those Who Hate Me Regret It Chapter 276: Xu Su, Do You Even Know What ’Like’ Means?
Xu Su started to think back. They had stayed at the hospital last night, and she seed to recall him taking a phone call. His expression had indeed been a little off when he returned, but she’d taken cold dicine at the ti and was incredibly drowsy. ’How could I have possibly noticed sothing like that...’
’But for him to know I t with Xi Zirong and still manage to hold back from confronting directly... that’s so unlike him.’
’If I hadn’t been in a bad mood and picked a fight, he probably would have kept it to himself indefinitely...’
At this thought, Xu Su felt a strange pang of heartache. With Zhou Mochen’s incredibly jealous nature, who knew what kind of wild scenarios he’d dread up after finding out she’d spent most of the day with Xi Zirong. Yet he’d chosen to just bottle it all up. ’Why didn’t he just ask directly?’
’Or did he think he already had the answer?’
’What answer could he possibly have?’
Conflicting emotions churned inside Xu Su, and her head throbbed. "I didn’t hide it from you on purpose, really. I was just afraid you’d misunderstand—exactly like you’re doing now. That’s why I didn’t tell you that Xi Zirong had appeared."
Unsure how to make him believe her, she could only try her best to be sincere. "Why won’t you believe ? We’ve been together for so long. Can you really not tell how I feel about you?"
Zhou Mochen was silent for a long ti before reaching out and pulling her in by the shoulder. "You’re too good at lying. I’m afraid to trust you."
’I’m afraid to trust you...’
A tremor went through Xu Su’s heart. She buried her face in his chest and said miserably, "Then what are we supposed to do? Are we just going to spend the rest of our lives suspecting each other like this?"
"What are you trying to say?" His grip on her shoulder tightened, his voice frighteningly deep. "Xu Su, I advise you to think carefully before you say another word. Don’t cross my line again. I don’t know what I might do."
"..." Xu Su was completely baffled. "What could I possibly say? ...You think I’m about to break up with you?"
Zhou Mochen’s silence was his answer.
Xu Su laughed in exasperation. "I have never once thought about breaking up with you, Zhou Mochen! If you won’t believe , then fine. That’s your choice. But break up? Don’t you even think about it!"
She had never considered breaking up. Even if they were dood to be a miserable, resentful couple for the rest of their lives, the thought had never crossed her mind.
"Then why are you fighting with ?" Zhou Mochen gave a cold laugh. "Aren’t you just deliberately picking a fight so you can give the cold shoulder, and then, after this happens a few more tis, you’ll be the one to bring up a breakup?"
"No! Is that really what you think?" Xu Su’s eyes widened. "I’m getting legitimately angry here, and you think I’m just trying to pick a fight?"
Zhou Mochen looked down at her. "What are you so angry about?"
’He really doesn’t get it...’
Xu Su was speechless. "I treat you like my boyfriend, but you treat like a child! Of course I’m angry! You’re always acting like you have to unconditionally indulge and accommodate . Maybe from your perspective, that’s not a big deal. But sotis, when I’m clearly not the one in the wrong, you still give off that ’You’re being willful, but I’ll let you have your way’ vibe. How can I not be furious about that?!"
’It makes sound so unreasonable and bossy!’
’Always with the "Why are you making a scene with her?" The subtext is always "She’s just a child," isn’t it?’
’How is that any different from those parents who spoil their own little brats rotten? He’s really treating like I’m his child to raise!’
"Then what am I supposed to do? Not protect you? Not let you have your way? Should I be lecturing you with so grand philosophy every day instead?" Zhou Mochen frowned. "You’re throwing this big of a fit just because I unconditionally give in to you?"
"...That’s not it, either." Xu Su felt like she was coming off as ungrateful. She sighed. "Anyway, just... don’t treat like a child. I’m not a child."
"I don’t see you as a child, Xu Su. I’m not a pervert. I only like you. I’m not into... children," he said, his tone dead serious.
’He must have really been bothered by what I said at the dinner table...’
Xu Su started to feel a little embarrassed herself. ’What on earth did I say in front of Shen Chen!’
The atmosphere finally eased. Zhou Mochen pulled her hand down. "Go eat. In the future, if you’re going to throw a fit, do it after dinner."
"..." Xu Su looked up at him, but his expression was completely unreadable.
’I wonder if he actually took any of the angry things I just said to heart...’
She couldn’t resist asking, "Zhou Mochen, I love you. You know that, right?"
When he didn’t answer, Xu Su grew anxious. "What is it? The only reason I fight with you is because I love you enough to care! You didn’t actually believe all that angry stuff I said, did you? If you did, and you’re just going to bottle it up and sulk, then I..."
"You’ll what?"
"...What do you an, what?" Xu Su glared at him. "If you insist on making yourself miserable, what can I possibly do about it?"
"Am I the one making things difficult?" Zhou Mochen laughed. He took his hand off the doorknob, moved it down to the lock, and shot the double bolt. He then grabbed a stunned Xu Su by the arm and flung her onto the bed. "Am I?!"
"Well, aren’t you?" Having been suddenly thrown onto the bed, Xu Su scrambled up, grabbed him, and pulled him down onto the bed with her. She wrapped her hands around his neck, half-joking, half-furious. "You’re always talking about digging your heart out for . So what, do I have to dig my heart out for you to finally believe how much I love you?"
She looked as if she’d suffered the greatest injustice in the world. Zhou Mochen narrowed his eyes at her, then pulled her hands away. "You left the arcade with Xi Zirong at 3:20 PM. He brought you back to Imperial Central at 9:30 PM. Where were you for those six hours?"
"To the hospital. Chang City People’s Hospital. You can check the patient records," Xu Su said in a rush, not even daring to hesitate for fear his imagination would run wild again. "We left the hospital a little after six and went to a restaurant—I didn’t catch the na. After we ate, he brought back. That’s everything that happened. I’m not lying to you!"
Zhou Mochen asked, "What did the two of you do in that private room?"
"???" Xu Su stared at him, wide-eyed. "How did you... You investigated and found out we had dinner?"
’If he knew that, then why bother asking? He just wanted to see if I’d keep lying, didn’t he?’
Xu Su felt a mix of anger and helplessness. It seed her credibility had well and truly gone bankrupt with him.
"Didn’t you just say you love ?" A smirk played on Zhou Mochen’s lips. "Then answer my question. What did the two of you do for the two hours you were together in that room?"
"What could we have done? Besides eat, what do you think we could have possibly done?" ’What on earth is going through his head?’ Xu Su felt utterly drained.
"Is that so?" Zhou Mochen lifted her chin, his voice unnervingly calm. "No rekindling an old fla?"
"...Don’t be like this. You know my phone got smashed. I didn’t contact him. Running into him was just a coincidence. He saw I was hurt and was kind enough to take to the hospital. Then he realized I hadn’t eaten all day, so he bought dinner. That’s it."
Xu Su t his gaze without flinching. "It’s not what you’re thinking. Nothing happened besides dinner."
"Why did you go with him? Why were you alone in a room with him? Why get involved with him again?" Zhou Mochen finally unleashed his emotions, sneering as he grabbed the back of Xu Su’s neck and yanked her toward him. "You know perfectly well how much I despise your history with him. Is *this* how much you love ? Xu Su, do you even know what love ans?"
"When you got in his car, did you ever stop to consider how I would feel when I found out?"
