"Argh! Get away!"

Flaun watched Robson relentlessly firing the cannon, his heart burning with anxiety as he heard the endless screams from behind him.

Under normal circumstances, a few swings of his hamr would be enough to teach this old bastard a lesson, but he had more pressing matters to attend to right now.

"Fuman! I’m here to help!" Viscount Leo roared, charging straight into the fray with Emil right behind him.

A ti-honored tradition of Robson’s forces: a righteous group beatdown.

Flaun was shocked into realization. ’Right, this entire wall is swarming with enemies!’

’No! Where are the Extraordinaries of my Jackal Wolf Race?’

Flaun glanced back and saw his dozen or so Extraordinaries surrounded and overwheld by several dozen humans. They were in no position to help him.

’Retreat or not?’

Flaun didn’t have ti to ponder the question. Four Silver-ranks took advantage of his distraction, piercing him with several clean holes.

"Ugh!" Flaun tried to fight back, but now even Bronze-rank enemies were rushing in to get a piece of the action.

...

With the failure of the Gnoll Extraordinaries’ mission, it was only a matter of ti before the remaining Bloodthirsty Jackal Wolfn were wiped out.

Countless vials of Divine Water rained down, drenching the Gnolls below and making them scream in agony. Gradually, many of them regained their senses and understood the situation.

"Where’s the Chieftain? Where’s the general?"

"The general is dead! Look!"

"The general is dead!"

This shocking news struck the Gnolls to their very core. Many of them finally ca to their senses.

’Sothing’s wrong. Shouldn’t we be retreating?’

No one answered them. The only response was the constant volley of arrows from the city wall and the jabbing spears of the soldiers on the ramparts.

"Even the general is dead... We’ve lost..."

"Aargh! I’ve been hit by an arrow!"

"Huh? Why is there an arrow sticking out of my butt?"

"Retreat! Quickly, retreat!"

By the ti the Gnolls snapped out of it, only a few hundred of them were left.

"Retreat! Retreat!"

It was unclear who ran first, but soon the entire Gnoll army collapsed like a landslide...

...

The rout of the Gnolls triggered a chain reaction, and the first to react were the Snow Mountain Fox Clan.

They had been thoroughly blasted by the Magic Crystal Cannons all night. The bombardnt had been relentless, and by now, at least two thousand mbers of the Fox Race had died from the cannonballs.

Now, seeing the Kobolds from the front line falling back and the Gnolls running back in defeat, even the biggest fool would understand what was happening.

"General? Where is the general?"

"Where did the general go?"

At this mont, Marin was slumped on the ground. His soldiers might still be holding onto a sliver of hope, but he knew the truth all too well.

"Lost... We lost?" Marin’s eyes widened in disbelief. He couldn’t fathom where he had gone wrong.

"General! General, we have to retreat! General!"

Marin was in a daze, unsure of what to do.

A group of his trusted aides simply lifted him up...

...

anwhile, standing on the city wall, Robson finally breathed a sigh of relief. As he collected himself, he discovered that his Tier Five Soldiers were ready for an upgrade!

Frankish Elite Infantry, promoted to Tier Six: Frank Border Guard.

Frankish Elite Shooters, promoted to Tier Six: Frankish Border Watchers.

’Those nas...’ Robson paused. ’They’re fitting enough. It’s just hard to form a large contingent right now. I wonder how they’ll perform on the battlefield.’

"My lord, what do we do now?"

Bo Yang ca to ask after cleaning up the battlefield.

"What do we do?" Robson paused. He had been about to check on the soldiers of the second and third regints, but then it hit him—the enemy was getting away!

Looking at the crumbling Beastman army before him, Robson snapped out of his reverie as if waking from a dream.

’Don’t run!’

’My soldiers are Tier Six, and I, Lord Robson, am only a few dozen experience points away from Gold rank!’

Robson glanced at the Magic Crystal Cannon, wanting to fire one last shot, but the Magic Crystals were already depleted.

"All Cavalry Teams! Extraordinary Cavalry! Charge out of the city and kill the enemy! Avoid getting bogged down in a lee; rember to maintain formation!"

"First, Second, Third, and Fourth Regints! Disperse on the spot! Form ten-man squads, but maintain your hundred-man company structure! Charge out and kill the enemy!

You must return to the fortress before nightfall!

Tell them that after the battle, there will be at and ale, distributed according to their kill counts!!"

Robson was putting it all on the line to fire up his troops’ fighting spirit.

"Yes, my lord!" said Bo Yang.

After giving his orders, Robson imdiately descended from the city wall, accompanied by a host of Knight Orders and the nobles of Qimo Fortress.

"Everyone! Prepare to move out imdiately! Get to the city gate as fast as you can!" Robson commanded.

"As you command!"

The dozens of Extraordinaries, their hearts pounding with excitent, scattered like birds and beasts. The rest of the battle was clear as day! It was ti to scoop up achievents!

Who would turn down free rits? As expected, following the Viscount was sure to lead to good things!

"Get up! All of you, on your feet!"

Robson rushed to the cavalry barracks at top speed and barked orders at the resting cavalryn.

The soldiers were all lost in dreamland, ready to curse whoever was being so inconsiderate, but they opened their eyes to see their own lord.

And it wasn’t the Little Knight, either—it was the big boss himself!

"Ten minutes! Assemble at the city gate with your horses!" Robson commanded.

"Yes, my lord!"

"Yes, sir."

Soon, the cavalryn were rushing towards the stables.

Robson went to the central tent, found Claude sleeping soundly inside, and slapped him awake.

"Who is it! How dare... My lord, what brings you here?" Claude said with an embarrassed smile.

"Get everyone to the city gate to assemble, now! I’m leading the charge myself this ti! Imdiately! Right now! Understand?" Robson commanded.

Although Claude didn’t know what was happening, since his own boss was demanding it, he had no reason to refuse.

"As you command!"

...

"General! What do we do now? General? Should we retreat or not?"

A group of trusted aides crowded around Marin, pressing him for a decision.

"It’s over. It’s all over."

But right now, Marin’s mind was filled with thoughts of Prince Kase’s reprimand and his own father’s cold face.

He was just a naive youth who had never seen the world. It was his first ti handling a major affair, and he had botched it completely. One could only imagine how he felt.

Ultimately, the problem was that Marin wasn’t thick-skinned enough. If it had been Robson, he would have grabbed the remaining Magic Crystals and made a run for it.

’So what if we lost? If going back ans certain death, why go back at all? The Beastman Grassland is vast; surely there’s a place for to hide?’

"Forget it. Let’s just get the general out of here first."

"Right!"

"Oh, and those Magic Crystals over there—grab them. We’ll find a place to lay low for a while."

"Okay."

"This thing is heavy! Co give a hand."

...

The entire Beastman force was in disarray. The Kobolds had already been thrown into chaos by the retreating Gnolls, and their morale was fracturing.

Now, Marin’s retreat triggered a chain reaction, and the entire Beastman army began to fall back as one.

Until the gates of the human city swung open...

By then, Robson’s Cavalry Team was already assembled and ready to go. A cavalry force composed mainly of Tier Three and Four troops was convenient and fast, and they had gathered in no ti.

In contrast, it was the nobles who were dragging their feet.

Fortunately, everyone was eager to claim their share of the glory, so they were all highly motivated and finished equipping themselves before long.

Mounted on his horse, Robson looked at the troops behind him, then swung his Long Sword toward the Beastn.

"For the King! For the great Frank Kingdom! Charge!"

Robson roared, then took the lead and galloped out of the city gates.
