Joseph Kaladi, due to serious cris such as treason and aiding the enemy, was publicly executed, and his family was completely purged under the Emperor's command.
The downfall of a once-renowned family caused an earthquake in the Empire's noble circles.
However, the instigator of all this storm was currently nestled deep in his thick comforter, sleeping soundly.
It wasn't his fault; the high-intensity work during this period, coupled with days of parliantary preparation, the establishnt of the Auditing Departnt, and the investigation and wooing of various noble forces...
He was indeed too tired.
So Louis Calvin, the youngest County Governor in the North, the creator of the Parliant, the mastermind behind the auditing system, and the designer of the Revitalization Fund, was sound asleep in bed.
“Young Master Louis, it’s ti to get up,” Sif's voice rang in his ear.
The heavy curtains were pulled open, and a beam of sunlight slanted in, passing through the sheer curtains in the room and landing on the figure bundled up in the bed.
This was his explicit instruction: no matter how tired he was, he had to be woken up before 9 AM every day, to prevent himself from completely degenerating one day.
Louis felt the sunlight, grumbled sothing with a frown, and finally opened his eyes with difficulty.
He sat up, looking exactly like an ordinary person who had to get up in the morning, with ssy hair and empty eyes.
“It’s been over a year,” he murmured, looking at the dawn light outside the window, “Since I transmigrated, I’ve truly degenerated into a noble...”
But no matter how tired his body was, or how unclear his consciousness, habit was already deeply ingrained.
The first thing he did after getting up was instinctively raise his hand and lightly swipe the air.
Activating the Daily Intelligence System.
Sif happened to co in with a towel, handed him water, and glanced at him, seeing him staring blankly at the air again so early in the morning, she couldn't help but chuckle softly.
“You’re spacing out again,” she approached, and casually rubbed his face, like rubbing a kitten that hadn't fully woken up yet.
He, however, didn't care, still staring intently ahead.
He never worried about Sif or anyone else noticing anything unusual.
In fact, he had already verified it; this “Daily Intelligence System” was only visible to him.
Whether it was Sif or anyone else, even if they stood in front of him, they would only see him in a daze, and would not notice the light screen and text slowly appearing in the air.
The system's existence seed embedded deep within his consciousness.
The translucent light screen quietly unfolded before Louis's eyes, the text glowing with an icy blue light, slowly scrolling from top to bottom.
【Daily Intelligence Update Completed】
【1: The date for Louis and Emily’s marriage has been officially set by both families for July 12th.】
【2: Baron Courtney, dissatisfied with the Auditing Departnt's control, has sent gifts to his cousin Viscount Hamilton for help, attempting to use ~Nоvеl𝕚ght~ his connections to accuse Louis of being “autocratic and overbearing” before Governor Archduke Edmund.】
【3: Three days later, a three-person Silver Masked Mages squad encountered an unknown creature attack near Han Shan Territory, resulting in two dead and one injured. The survivor, Leixier, is hiding in a rock cave outside Han Shan Territory.】
After reading the first piece of intelligence, he blinked, his expression indifferent.
To him, this was not unexpected.
The marriage was only a matter of ti, and now that it was set for July 12th, just before the North truly entered sumr, everything was within his expectations.
“In a little over a month, huh?” he murmured softly.
He was actually quite satisfied with this marriage.
After all, he had already t Emily, that woman of undeniable beauty.
Unlike Sif, she had a more elegant, dignified style, as if she was born to wear a wedding dress and walk down the aisle.
“It’s quite sothing to look forward to.”
He unconsciously imagined the scene on the wedding day, and an almost imperceptible curve lifted at the corner of his mouth.
Of course, as a marriage between major families, he didn't need to personally arrange too much.
The procedures, ceremonies, dowry, and guest list would all be properly arranged by others.
“Hmm, I’ll just go directly when the ti cos,” he quietly mused in his mind.
With a casual wave, the light blue screen shifted, and he switched to the second piece of intelligence.
Upon seeing the words “Baron Courtney,” his eyebrow slightly arched.
“It's him again.”
This Baron had long been dissatisfied with his Auditing Departnt, and it wasn't the first ti he had appeared in the system's intelligence.
But this ti was even more amusing: he actually wanted his future father-in-law to deal with him?
“Complain about to my father-in-law?” Louis chuckled, a hint of sarcasm in his smile, “This Mr. Courtney truly has a unique imagination.”
Of course, he didn't plan to pursue it imdiately.
Courtney was rely a cornered beast, not worth his imdiate action.
But this matter had already been quietly noted in his ntal notebook.
“It won’t be too late to bring it up when it’s useful.”
The first two pieces of intelligence were insignificant, almost qualifying as useless information.
It seed today was another day for the useless system.
Louis pouted and casually switched to the third entry.
Then he froze.
Silver Masked Mages squad, two dead, one injured? The injured one—was actually hiding in a rock cave outside Han Shan Territory?!
He abruptly sat up straight, his eyes fixed on the icy blue text, confirming he hadn't misread it.
“...What?”
It was as if a “whoosh” sounded in his mind, and his sleepiness was instantly dispelled.
This was no ordinary squad; it was a—Silver Masked Mages!
He rembered clearly that the last intelligence ntioned they were ordered by the Supre Mage to investigate the Archmage who died in Red Tide Territory.
At that ti, he was thinking of finding an opportunity to contact them, perhaps opening the door to the world of magic through them.
Yet, before he even had a chance to make contact, two had died, and the remaining one was severely injured and hiding in a rock cave on the edge of his territory?!
“What a joke! Why do these Mages all love dying near my territory?” Louis muttered, his expression uncharacteristically grave.
This could no longer be explained by “coincidence.”
This indicated that so unknown, terrifying threat might be lurking around his territory.
This made his heart sink, and a serious expression appeared between his brows.
However, he quickly made a decision: the survivor must be saved.
Not only because the other party might be his breakthrough to magic, but also because he had to know what exactly attacked them.
If this matter wasn't investigated thoroughly, what if the target of the attack shifted to his own territory one day?
Moreover, there were also a few resource clues around Han Shan Territory that he could conveniently retrieve along the way.
“Tsk, truly a troubled ti.”
He got up and washed, his expression calm, but his mind was already ticulously planned.
After washing, he found Lambert and whispered, “Bring the Elite Knights and Formal Knights. Prepare to depart. We are going to Han Shan Territory for a ‘patrol.’”
Lambert didn't ask further, nodding sharply and going to prepare.
