Adelyn didn’t know what it was, but she couldn’t bring herself to look away.

There was sothing unexplainable about him —sothing that captivated her completely.

His flawless face seed so exquisitely carved —as though enough to bring calamity upon the entire nation and lead it towards destruction.

How could she look away?

Adelyn knew looks could easily attract anyone, but she had never experienced this before.

She knew n could look beautiful too —but this was the first ti she couldn’t deny it, not even with her wittiest remark.

Who was he?

And why had he kept his eyes closed? Did he even know that she was there?

She knew those questions didn’t concern her, yet she couldn’t help herself. She was just curious, or maybe ...

"He is my boss," Ford spoke softly, his voice just above a whisper, interrupting her thoughts.

"Huh?" For a second, Adelyn looked confused.

But when she t Ford’s gaze fixed on her, she realized she had been caught gawking at the man.

Embarrassed, she imdiately looked away.

Ford kept his expression polite, as though he had long trained himself to react in such situations. "Miss, are you comfortable enough?"

Adelyn nodded with a small smile and quickly moved to guide him through the directions. Her transition was hasty, but intentional.

But even so, her gaze would occasionally trail back to look at the man resting behind.

She couldn’t simply control herself there.

Could it be that she was tempted by his sharp yet exquisite look?

That seed novel —considering she had never been so chard by anyone in her entire life.

As the car finally drove out of the complicated alley and onto the main road, Ford finally turned to Adelyn and asked, "Miss, where should we drop you?"

Only then did Adelyn realize they were already out. She gazed at the road ahead, feeling a little guilty. After all, sneaking gazes at strangers like so creep wasn’t exactly appropriate.

"Ahh ..." Her hand moved toward the seatbelt as she continued, "I don’t think I should trouble you with that. Please pull over to the side of the road. I will get down here."

She didn’t notice it —but there was a clear hint of panic in Ford’s eyes.

"It’s not a trouble for us," he said quickly, as though fearing that if he delayed even a second longer, he would lose a once-in-a-lifeti opportunity.

Adelyn paused and turned to look at him.

He offered a small, polite smile and explained, "That was our agreent from the very beginning. You guide us out of that area, and we drop you at your destination. Please let us fulfil our promise."

Adelyn pressed her lips into a tight line. Her gaze unconsciously drifted toward the man in the back seat.

She didn’t know if that would be the right decision. After all, since the mont she sat in here, the man hadn’t even cared to open his eyes and glance at her.

Maybe he might even see her as a trouble.

"My boss values promises ... a lot," Ford spoke casually as though intending to just reassure her. Yet there was sothing concealed beneath his tone that made Adelyn look at him with slight confusion.

Noticing her expression, he quickly clarified, "He wouldn’t like it if he found out that we dropped you off halfway instead of taking you all the way."

"But —"

"Please, Miss," he interrupted before she could refuse him further. "I insist."

At last, Adelyn gave up. She nodded and adjusted the seatbelt she had almost undone earlier.

"Then I will trouble you to drop at ZX dia."

Ford looked montarily surprised but didn’t question. He rely nodded.

As the car continued down the road, silence filled the cabin. Adelyn wasn’t a talkative person, but she wasn’t quiet either. She simply preferred not to speak unless necessary.

After a long stretch of hushed silence, her phone rang. Though her ringtone wasn’t loud, in the stillness of the car, it sounded almost disruptive.

She stiffened and quickly silenced it. "I am sorry," she apologized before answering the car. Her eyes drifted to check on the man behind and, sighing in relief, finding him still in his sleep.

"Adelyn, where are you?" Alia’s voice ca through the other side. "Did you reach?"

"I am almost there, Alia. I will be there in another five minutes," she replied through the call.

After hearing Alia hum in response, she disconnected the call.

Her gaze shifted to the large banner of ZX dia on the building ahead.

Her hand moved to the seatbelt again, undoing it smoothly. "We have arrived. Please pull over."

Ford nodded and carefully brought the car to a stop.

Adelyn pushed the door open and stepped out, closing it behind her. Just as she was about to leave, she paused and turned back one last ti.

Her eyes instinctively sought the man, unable to ignore his allure.

But then she realized —this was nothing more than a devil’s trap, ant to ensnare her in desire.

A desire that likely had no aning at all.

"Is there anything else, Miss?" Ford asked, snapping her out of her reverie.

Adelyn blinked and quickly shook her head. "Oh —I just wanted to thank you." She paused before adding, "Thank you for dropping off, Sir."

Ford shook his head. "We simply helped each other."

With that, she didn’t linger any longer. Giving one last smile of politeness, she turned and walked toward the building.

Unbeknownst to her, just after she left, the man opened his eyes.

Dark blue-amber eyes —deep and eternal —stared in the direction she had gone as though he were struggling. Fighting against sothing far more ferocious inside.

"Boss, —"

"Drive."

Before Ford could say another word, Dylan cut him off, his fingers clenched into tight fists.

Ford’s expression turned complicated. Looking into the rear-view mirror, he asked carefully. "Are we not waiting for her?"

Dylan didn’t answer, but his silence was an answer enough.

Ford nodded and started the engine, driving away.

When Adelyn heard the sound of the car, she turned back —only to catch a fleeting glimpse of the Rolls-Royce disappearing into the distance.

Temptations are fleeting, she thought as she turned away.

But her steps faltered when her eyes landed on the massive screen mounted on a nearby building.

It was broadcasting a piece of explosive financial news.

But it wasn’t the news that made her stop —

It was the blurred image of the man on the screen.

He ...
