Xing Chen sensed sothing wrong in Ran Xiangsi’s tone. He released her hand and turned to look into her eyes.
Seeing her slightly lonely appearance, he thought she was still thinking about her childhood.
With a sigh, he let go.
"Who taught you to do all this?" he asked, discovering that he couldn’t help but look around at the arrangents.
These weren’t just small candles; what he saw was her incredibly sincere heart.
To do all this for him with her own hands, he could feel her emotions.
"Who else? I’m a genius! Of course, I taught myself!" Ran Xiangsi snapped back to reality and couldn’t help but boast.
She hugged his waist and buried her face in his chest.
In her ears, the strong and powerful heartbeat symbolized a tenacious vitality.
Ran Xiangsi realized she had started to beco addicted to his embrace...
"Xing Chen, I will protect you. So, don’t be afraid. There’s nothing by the river anymore, no one can hurt you again."
These were the words she had said in the beginning, repeated now to show how much this ant to her.
Xing Chen was amused by her seriousness, "Are you sure? With your petite fra... you can protect ?"
He only took her words as a joke, just listening without taking it to heart.
She was so small, without any power or influence behind her, could she really protect him?
Besides, isn’t it a man’s duty to protect a woman?
"Sure!" Ran Xiangsi nodded solemnly but secretly made a vow in her heart: she would stay by his side for the rest of her life to protect him!
By the swimming pool, they embraced quietly, belonging to each other completely.
After a thorough heart-to-heart, their souls grew even closer.
However, the wind began to pick up, and the candle flas flickered and began to go out.
Ran Xiangsi felt heartbroken watching this; she wanted these candles to illuminate Xing Chen’s heart.
"My candles..." she exclaid, releasing Xing Chen to save her candles.
She forgot she was by the pool; in a mont of carelessness, she stepped into the air and, with a splash, fell into the pool...
Fortunately, the water was warm, not too cold.
But she couldn’t swim!
Ran Xiangsi only felt a buzzing in her head and instinctively began to struggle and thrash around!
"Help... help..." she managed to shout for help, her body bobbing up and down.
This feeling of weightless floating was awful!
Everything happened so quickly, Xing Chen was too far away to catch her in ti!

She was still wondering why she fell in.

Xing Chen was also soaked, and when he looked back at Ran Xiangsi, he found her staring blankly at the pool.
