Daisy Grant looked back.
It was Sam’s phone.
Since she was a light sleeper, Sam’s phone was always on silent mode at night, just to avoid phone calls disturbing her sleep.
Daisy Grant picked up the phone, and seeing that the caller ID was an English na, Candy, she intended to put the phone back on the nightstand. Since it wasn’t Sam’s assistant, Sam Brown, calling, it wouldn’t be about company matters, so she didn’t need to worry.
But the phone stubbornly kept lighting up. Obviously, the person on the other side kept dialing. Fearing it might be sothing urgent, Daisy Grant picked up Dawn Sutherland’s phone and pressed the answer key.
As soon as the call was connected, a cheerful voice ca through, speaking passably standard Mandarin, but with a strong foreign accent.
"Hello, Dawn, I didn’t an to disturb you, I’m just too excited to sleep! I’ll be coming over to see you in a few days!"
The voice sounded in her ear, and Daisy Grant’s fingers stiffened a bit, feeling awkward. She hadn’t expected it to be a woman calling Sam in the middle of the night.
"Dawn, why aren’t you speaking?!" the person on the other side asked.
Daisy Grant pursed her lips, holding the phone with so hesitation.
The person obviously expected a reply from her, but she wasn’t Sam himself. Had she known, she wouldn’t have answered the phone for Sam.
"Dawn, are you dumbfounded? Have you forgotten who I am? I’m Candy! Say sothing!" The voice carried a hint of complaint and teasing.
Daisy Grant felt more awkward, her hand holding the phone stiffening further. She pursed her lips and replied in a calm voice, "Call back tomorrow, I’m not him."

The other side fell silent, not a sound to be heard.
Daisy Grant waited for more than ten seconds, hearing no response and thinking the other side had hung up upon realizing it wasn’t him. She checked the call status and saw it was still ongoing, Daisy Grant frowned slightly, about to speak, when an incredulous voice ca over.
"A woman? Oh my god! It’s late night there, right? It’s afternoon here! Why would a woman be answering Dawn’s phone in the middle of the night? Co-habiting—co-habiting—co-habiting?!" The woman on the other side was apparently shocked.
Daisy Grant didn’t respond, feeling sowhat embarrassed.
"Are you Dawn’s girlfriend?" the other side asked.
"No," Daisy Grant replied.
She and Sam weren’t considered boyfriend and girlfriend.
"How can you be living together if you’re not a couple?" the person persistently asked.
This girl was a chatterbox. Daisy Grant felt a bit of a headache, replied coolly, "We’re more like siblings, between us."
"Where is Dawn then?"
"Asleep."
"Next to you?"
"Yes..." Daisy Grant felt resigned and sowhat awkward.
"Hmm, darling, you’re deceiving , do you think I have a low IQ? You’re not being honest with at all!"
