Just as Ariel Morris finished speaking, with a ’slap’ sound, Damien Morris stood up and delivered a fierce slap. Pointing at Ariel, he scolded in a harsh tone, "If you dare to break up with Arlo Seys, then get out of the Morris Family! Don’t call yourself a Morris daughter! Being so careless about feelings, what a daughter I’ve raised!"
As Damien Morris’s slap landed, Laura Pinley quickly grabbed his enraged hand to stop him, fearing he’d lay another slap down. Laura looked at Ariel urgently and pleaded, "Ariel, look at how angry you’ve made your father! He’s right to educate you; how could you say you’re breaking up with Arlo Seys?!"
Compared to their furious and anxious expressions, Ariel Morris appeared unlike her usual self. Even though her face was slightly swollen from the slap, her eyes and face remained calm and indifferent, without a ripple of emotion.
She looked at her parents, speaking in a mild tone, "Why can’t I break up with him? I feel unsuited for him, so I want to break up."
"If you break up with Arlo Seys, then who will rescue the Morris Clan!" Damien Morris blurted out angrily.
Just as he finished speaking, Damien Morris regretted it. The words shouted in a mont of urgency were like water that had been spilled; he couldn’t take them back.
Laura Pinley’s fingertips, which were holding Damien Morris’s hand, stiffened slightly. She pinched him discreetly, then turned to Ariel and said gently, "Ariel, you know our current situation---if you break up with Arlo Seys now and anger him, as long as the Seys Family lends a finger, our already precarious Morris Clan might go bankrupt overnight! You can’t ruin the Morris Clan because of a mont of your own willfulness! After all, you are part of the Morris Family, and it has given you so much, don’t you think?"
Ariel Morris calmly looked at her mother, her voice flat like water, "Mom, do you think just because I’m with Arlo Seys, he will save the Morris Clan? Mom, the Seys Family would have no trouble finding an upper-class socialite who matches their status, wouldn’t they? Would they accept soone as ordinary as ?" Ariel paused, her voice turning a bit somber, "And as for Arlo Seys----I’m not as important to him as you all imagine."
On the surface, Ariel Morris’s expression remained indifferent, but inside she was so upset she wanted to cry.
Only she knew how much effort it took to say these words that negated her feelings for Arlo, and it made her so uneasy that even breathing beca sowhat difficult.
But as for Arlo----she could only use this ploy to make her parents give up their sches involving Arlo Seys and the Seys Family. This was all she could do now, sacrificing the relationship so that Arlo could live happily.
"Would the Seys Family oppose you being with Arlo Seys?" Damien Morris asked in a deep voice.
He had overlooked this problem—the Seys Family wielded influence over City C and if they looked down on Ariel’s identity and refused to accept her, it was understandable. After all, the Morris Family was only considered part of high society in City C, whereas the Seys Family was much more prestigious.
"You’re most aware of our gap with the Seys Family, aren’t you, Mom and Dad?" Ariel Morris replied flatly.

The al was tasteless, and Ariel Morris went upstairs.
Scarlett Morris finally couldn’t hold back and asked her parents, "Is Arlo Seys from that Seys Family?"
Laura Pinley sighed and nodded.
Scarlett Morris was surprised, "Didn’t you say the Seys Family heir would attend Virtue? Why did he go to Scenic Hill?"
Given that, why did their parents painstakingly send her to study at Virtue? Wasn’t the plan back then to allow her to approach the Seys Family heir at Virtue?
