On Christmas night, heavy snow was falling as Arlo Seys stood in the snow. His long, tailored coat made him look tall and elegant, with eyes as intricate as a painting and an outstanding deanor. He waited patiently for five minutes before a graceful silhouette hurriedly erged from the cinema.
The silhouette rushed towards Arlo Seys, wrapping her arms around his neck, and began complaining animatedly: "Arlo! I’m finally liberated! This movie just didn’t suit at all. Why can’t it be sothing tear-jerking like Titanic? It was a complete action film, and I can hardly criticize Third Young Master Haynes’ taste!"
The temperature difference outside was considerable, and snow was falling. Ariel shivered slightly as she spoke.
Noticing her subtle change, Arlo imdiately took off his scarf and wrapped it around her. "Be careful, it’s very cold outside, don’t catch a chill."
Ariel’s heart ward, and she smiled brightly at Arlo Seys, "Okay."
They walked together on the street. Since it was late and snowing heavily, there weren’t many pedestrians; occasionally, a few couples passed by, chatting and laughing.
"Ariel, it’s your birthday tomorrow. Where do you want to go? It happens to be the weekend. We don’t have any classes."
Ariel’s joyful heart sank upon hearing the word ’birthday.’ She gazed at the sky and the falling snow, speaking in a low, distracted voice: "It’s so fast, only one day left."
Only one day left until she planned to break up with Arlo.
But she felt so sad and reluctant—Arlo’s na had completely occupied her entire mind and body. How could she forget the warmth he had given her? How could she forget the sweet tis together?
Arlo took her hand, gently interlocking his fingers with hers as they strolled through the snow. His voice carried warmth, "I’ll accompany you on your birthday every year from now on."
Arlo’s touching words made Ariel’s eyes inexplicably well up with tears. Thinking of her decision, of how she was about to sever this relationship with her own hands, imagining these warm words might one day be directed at another girl, her vision started to blur.
She dared not look up, fearing her silent tears would fall, and even more afraid that Arlo would notice sothing was wrong. She struggled to suppress her emotions, putting on a pretense of light-heartedness before slowly speaking: "Arlo, my feet hurt, I don’t want to walk. Carry ."
Arlo heard her slightly coquettish tone, glanced at her, and seeing her lowering her eyes, assud she was shy. Smiling gently, he bent down without hesitation.
Ariel shalessly climbed onto Arlo’s back, her cool hands wrapping around his neck. With her face hidden behind his back, Arlo couldn’t see her face, and only then did her tears dare to freely slide down her cheeks.
Soundlessly, like a riverbank breaking.
The snow continued to fall as they walked slowly down the dim street, not caring about the icy chill of the snow.
Arlo carried Ariel silently, without any dissatisfaction or complaint, carefully watching his steps, slowing his pace to prevent slipping and injuring the person on his back.
It took Ariel a while to calm her thoughts and stop the silently falling tears. She leaned slightly forward, closer to Arlo’s shoulder, resting her head lightly against his shoulder, gazing at his indifferent yet artistically beautiful profile with deep affection in her eyes. Then she softly spoke: "Arlo Seys. Years from now, regardless of how our relationship turns out, whether we are still together, when you talk about , could you pat your chest with a smile and tell others you never regret knowing , and that you truly were happy with ?"
