Laura Pinley’s voice ca from the other end of the phone, and Ariel Morris instinctively shirked, "No need, Mom, Arlo and I-----"
"Your aunt is here too, saying we haven’t seen much of you since you were young, wanting to have a al and chat to strengthen our feelings." Before Ariel Morris could finish speaking, Laura Pinley directly interrupted her.
"But Arlo is very busy today, Mom, how about next ti Arlo and I co back together?" Ariel Morris continued to evade.
Arlo Seys doesn’t like the adoptive parents, and after knowing the truth about her suicide attempt eight years ago, he dislikes them even more. If Arlo accompanies her back, it will be difficult for him.
Laura Pinley paused, sighed, "I just miss you, hoping you co ho to eat and chat. If you marry into the Seys Family, with their big family business and your responsibilities with Young Master Seys at Era Enterprises, you’ll have even less ti to co back. Can’t you fulfill your mother’s wish now, Ariel? If Young Master Seys is busy, then co ho alone, okay?"
For the first ti, her adoptive mother spoke in such a lanting tone in front of her, with an aching anticipation, so Ariel Morris couldn’t bear to refuse any more and agreed with a nod.
Ariel Morris went to Arlo Seys’s office and left a note on his desk, telling him she was returning to the Morris Family for dinner tonight, then walked out of Era.
Arriving at the Morris Family ho, Ariel saw the family sitting inside, enjoying each other’s company.
Ariel Morris stood at the doorway, pressing her lips together. Sohow, she felt the picture of happiness and harmony inside was not sothing she could be a part of. She felt very out of place and awkward in front of this big Morris family.
"Miss." As the servant setting up the dishes caught sight of Ariel Morris, they called out respectfully.
The servant’s call drew everyone’s eyes in the living room towards Ariel Morris at the door. Standing there, Ariel Morris felt a bit flustered and at a loss.
She just knew she’d feel out of place with this family, and sure enough, when they saw her, the lively chat and smiles from before were gone.
"Ariel, you’ve co back, co in quickly." Laura Pinley waved with a smile to Ariel Morris.
"Dad, Mom, Aunt." Ariel Morris set aside her unnaturalness, addressed the few people, then walked in.
"Since Ariel’s back, let’s eat and chat." Kylie Morris stood up and said with a smile.
"Alright."
The whole family sat down to a table full of food.
Susan Saxton glanced at Ariel Morris sitting across from her and asked casually, "Isn’t Young Master Seys here?"
Ariel Morris knew well what Susan Saxton was implying, and replied calmly, "Arlo might have to work late tonight, he’s quite busy."
Laura Pinley chuckled, handed a bowl of soup to Ariel Morris, and looked at her gently, "Ariel, this soup was specially simred by your mom for three hours just for you, drink up!"
Ariel Morris, overwheld with surprise, accepted the soup, her eyes showing so astonishnt.
Recently, her adoptive parents’ attitude towards her had been improving. Was it because Arlo’s funds had saved Era? Was it for Arlo’s sake that they were treating her better?
Kylie Morris smiled warmly, "Drink up, don’t waste your mom’s heartfelt effort."
Ariel Morris nodded, smiled slightly, and scooped the soup into her mouth.
Sitting diagonally across, Scarlett Morris snorted coldly and spoke to her cousin Susan Saxton beside her, jealousy in her eyes, "We daughters and the niece are not as valued as an adopted orphan girl. I really don’t understand what Mom and Aunt are thinking!"
Susan Saxton smiled aningfully, watching Ariel Morris sip the ’specially prepared soup’, her gaze gleaming with a hint of delight.
