The car lights were bright, dazzling her eyes—
Ariel Morris raised her hand to shield her eyes from the glaring headlights, her gaze cold and without warmth.
When the white sports car appeared in her line of sight, Ariel’s eyes suddenly widened with joy and excitent.
Arlo! It’s Arlo!
Ariel lifted her leg and ran towards the vehicle in front, while not far behind her, Howard Saxton drove with a sinister look in his eyes, heading straight for Ariel.
Arlo Seys was driving at full speed towards Clearflower Estate when he spotted a running figure in his line of sight, his eyes flickering. He was about to slow down to greet Ariel Morris when the headlights behind her caught his attention.
The car was moving too fast, with a clear purpose, heading straight for Ariel.
Arlo’s fingers moved, his gaze cold and decisive; he floored the accelerator, and the car sped forward, shooting straight ahead.
Ariel saw Arlo arriving, ecstatic, thinking Arlo would stop to et her, but instead, Arlo’s car brushed past her, racing toward whatever was behind her!
As the car passed, a tense and urgent voice drifted from the sports car, "Go!"
Ariel instinctively sprinted forward, when suddenly, there was a loud bang, shockingly loud, causing Ariel’s body to tremble fiercely.
Screech—!
The cars in front all braked suddenly and stopped, with people quickly getting out of them.
Nicole Seys got out of the military off-road vehicle, her gaze falling not far behind Ariel, anxiously shouting, "Brother!!"
Ariel shuddered instantly, slowly turning to look behind her—
The two collided cars were severely deford, with considerable exterior damage.
"Arlo—Arlo—!!"
Ariel’s voice was hoarse as she dashed back towards the wrecked cars!
Ariel ran to Arlo’s car, her fingertips trembling.
"Arlo—Arlo!"
Ariel pulled open the passenger door, her eyes reddened with fear.
Inside, Arlo shook his dizzy head, eting Ariel’s reddened eyes and frightened gaze, he gave Ariel a faint smile, "I’m fine, why are you crying? You look terrible when you cry, don’t cry."
Ariel helped Arlo out of the car, noticing the blood dripping from his forehead, her voice choked, "You scared to death! Do you even know?!"
Ariel clung to Arlo, her body weak with fear, leaning against Arlo’s chest, eyes reddened.
"Arlo, you scared to death! What are you doing Arlo, do you know you could lose your life doing this?!"
Arlo hugged Ariel’s trembling body, warmth filling his heart, his voice soft as he spoke, "You are my wife; if I don’t risk my life to protect you, then who will I protect? See, I’m perfectly fine. Don’t be afraid; I’ll never be hurt."
"Okay." Ariel’s nose tingled with the urge to cry.
Suddenly, Arlo swiftly pulled her to switch positions, and then—
Bang—!
A gunshot rang by Ariel’s ear, and she felt the slender arms holding her body tremble fiercely.
Ariel’s fingers trembled against Arlo’s back, a warm flow trickling at her fingertips.....
"Arlo!!"
"Brother!!" Nicole Seys was also shocked by the sudden turn of events.
Her brother held Ariel, both of their eyes filled with worry for each other, a scene that was enviable, yet shattered by the sudden sound of gunfire!
"Arlo!!" Ariel hugged Arlo’s body tightly, her entire being trembling.
With one hand holding Arlo’s back, she quickly stepped around, her gaze landing on Howard Saxton’s face, and without hesitation, using the small handgun Jose Floyd had given her, she aid at Howard with a gaze colder and more hateful than ever...
