But recently, things have been sowhat unstable; there’s an individual nad Hong Ye who is always causing trouble.
He once followed Grandfather Nangong Jin, so he’s considered a senior. Half of the capital’s gambling dens were divided and given to him to manage, and that has continued to this day.
But lately, he seems to be getting restless.
Hence, Nangong Jin decided to check things out, to see if his subordinates had handled the situation properly.
Upon arriving at Qingbei Hall, he found Feng Rao there and called her to his office.
When Feng Rao entered, he was sitting in the office chair, reading sothing.
Feng Rao brought a cup of coffee, his favorite, pure black coffee.
"Master." Feng Rao walked over and gently placed the coffee in front of Nangong Jin.
"Mhm." Nangong Jin nodded but didn’t drink the coffee; instead, he asked, "How’s the situation with Hong Ye been dealt with?"
"Yes." Feng Rao looked down, "Recently, Hong Ye has been constantly causing disturbances. He brought in a professional cheater who ca to our gambling den and won a lot of money. Moreover, we haven’t been able to catch them. People from our side have approached Hong Ye, asking him not to gamble here anymore, but Hong Ye won’t listen, arguing that it doesn’t make sense to do business and forbid people from gambling. Just last night, he won ten billion."
Nangong Jin smiled coldly, then turned his gaze towards Feng Rao, "Are you all just freeloading? You can’t even handle such a trifling matter?"
"But you’ve said that our gambling dens shouldn’t allow cheating." Feng Rao respectfully replied, "So we didn’t dare to invite a cheater to counter them."
"If you dare not invite a cheater, can’t you use money to dissuade them from coming? Can’t ten billion buy off a few cheaters?"
"This..." Feng Rao lowered her head, "Without your order, who would dare to touch those ten billion."
"So, it’s my fault, is it?" Nangong Jin crossed his legs.
"No." Feng Rao shook her head, "This subordinate wouldn’t dare to say that. This subordinate..."
"Enough." Nangong Jin cut her off, "First, find soone from the streets to get the specifics on these cheaters. Negotiate with them privately; if money can make them leave, then use money. If not, then find their family mbers, and have a good talk with them.
If that still doesn’t work, then challenge them to a private ga, capture evidence of their cheating, and then follow the rules of the underworld."
"Yes." Feng Rao nodded.
"Anything else?" Nangong Jin asked.
"No, that’s all." Feng Rao shook her head, "Other than the matter with Hong Ye, everything else is peaceful and operating normally."
"Good." Nangong Jin nodded, "Then you may leave."
"Yes." Feng Rao bowed her head.
But she didn’t leave and instead looked up to ask, "Master, is your stomach feeling better?"
Nangong Jin lifted the corners of his mouth slightly, "It’s already better, thank you for your concern, and thank you for the coffee."
After saying that, Nangong Jin took a sip, but the smile on his face was extrely rakish.
Feng Rao was startled and suddenly rembered that soone with a stomachache shouldn’t drink coffee.
But Nangong Jin indeed loved black coffee, so she genuinely forgot for a mont.
However, she could see that Nangong Jin was very displeased with her.
"I’m sorry, Master." Feng Rao quickly said, "This subordinate was careless and forgot. Please don’t drink it, I’ll make you another cup right away."
"No need." Nangong Jin shook his head, "After all, it’s not hurting anymore."
Feng Rao bit her lower lip, looking aggrieved, "I’m sorry."
"You may leave." Nangong Jin didn’t pay her any further attention.
Feng Rao still didn’t want to leave and continued to ask, "Are you going to the hospital today? Do you want to accompany you?"
It was then that Nangong Jin looked up at her, truly noticing for the first ti that Feng Rao had grown up, and she was also a woman.
