"Big brother," Di Jinxuan cupped her chin in her hands and blurted out, "do you like Fourth Sister?"
Caught off guard, Di Mingzhe blinked, frowning slightly. "What nonsense are you talking about? Why would you think I like her?"
Di Jinxuan fluttered her eyelashes. "No need to be so defensive. I was just asking," she said.
Di Mingzhe didn’t respond, but the furrow in his brow deepened. Di Jinxuan pouted. "I’ll go see if dinner is ready yet."
With Di Jinxuan gone, Di Mingzhe sipped from a cup of freshly brewed tea without saying a word.
"Third Brother will be ho for dinner too," Di Mingchen walked in, fiddling with his phone. "He should be here soon."
After surveying the living room, he joined Di Xiaxia, casually asking, "So who have you fallen for?" as he twirled his phone in his hand.
"Um..." Di Xiaxia stamred awkwardly.
"Still hung up on Third Bro?" Di Mingchen teased, tapping her on the head.
Di Xiaxia touched her head cautiously, looking nonplussed. "Not at all! I’ve long since gotten over my crush on Third Brother."
"Really?" Di Mingchen raised an eyebrow. "Good then, I’ll introduce you to so guys soon."
Di Xiaxia’s eyes sparkled at the suggestion. "Will they be tough guys?"
After all, if her brother was introducing them, they must be military n, and military n were bound to be tough!
Di Mingchen rolled his eyes and stretched his long legs. "Whether you like them big-sized or slim, I’ve got you covered," he said matter-of-factly.
Di Xiaxia blushed at the ntion of her love life. Could it be...?
Deciding to play along, she nodded swiftly. "Okay, okay, you’ve got a deal, Second Brother. I want a tough guy."
Unable to hold back laughter, Di Mingchen playfully tapped her on the head. "Speaking of tough guys, aren’t you a little embarrassed?"
Di Xiaxia responds confidently, "There’s no sha in wanting a fulfilling life. That’s what being young is all about!"
Over on the side, Di Mingzhe, who had been drinking tea, looked as though a cloud had darkened his handso face. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, Di Mingjue walked in.
Apparently, he’d overheard Di Xiaxia’s declaration.
His face wore a cold smirk. "You? Planning on living life on the wild side? Are you trying to reach the stars?" he scoffed.
Di Xiaxia pouted, "Why not? You’re allowed to live your life, but I’m not? Not only do I want to reach for the stars, I want to outshine the sun!"
Di Mingjue couldn’t help laughing. He settled himself into a chair and responded, "Funny that you should ntion the sun. There’s actually soone in our family who thinks he is one."
He glanced pointedly at the glare of the ’sun’ emanating from the tea-drinking rest area, whose face had darkened noticeably.
Di Mingchen furrowed his brow, not quite catching the insinuation, and blinked in confusion. "What do you an by that, Third Brother?"
Was he referring to their father being their ’sun’?
The ntion of their dad made Di Mingchen uneasy. He slapped his thigh and exclaid, "Third Brother, that’s a bit much! Our father...?"
Even though Di Xiaxia and Di Yan aren’t blood-related, still...He found himself at a loss for words. Di Mingjue’s sense of humor really was too much for him.
Di Mingjue almost choked at Di Mingchen’s question. He shot him a cool glance, "I don’t waste ti talking to the unintelligent."
Di Mingchen looked bewildered. Di Xiaxia had no words either. Her second brother really was sothing. She began to suspect he had a knack for causing trouble.
"What nonsense are you all discussing anyway?" Di Mingzhe finally interrupted, growing increasingly frustrated with his siblings’ antics.
Di Mingchen scratched his head, innocently replying, "Oh, we’re just talking about introducing a boyfriend to Xiaxia."
"A tough guy," Di Xiaxia quickly added.
At critical monts like this, it was essential to assert her preferences and distance herself from the ’scapegoat’ narrative! Ah, what an ingenious move that was!
But why did the big brother’s face look even more disturbed?
"Stop ssing around," Di Mingzhe uttered sternly, his face grave.
