Dan Lingling forced a smile, "Yes, I know, I was just making small talk, Secretary Gu, don’t be so nervous."

After school, Di Xiaxia couldn’t help feeling anxious. She wanted to call Di Mingzhe, but guessed that he wouldn’t be by his phone at this mont.

Picking up the phone, Di Mingzhe’s pleasant voice ca through gently, "I have a social engagent tonight, and will co ho late. Can you eat alone?"

"Good girl," A hint of amusent colored Di Mingzhe’s voice.
Nevertheless, Di Xiaxia suddenly beca flustered, "Brother, I called you this afternoon and your junior sister answered."
There was a two second silence on the other end of the phone before Di Mingzhe replied, "I know. It’s not a problem."
Di Xiaxia finally let out a sigh of relief, nodding, "Then carry on with your work, I’ll wait for you."
"Alright." Di Mingzhe hung up the phone, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Sir," Gu Mian entered, formally reporting, "The reception banquet will start at 7 o’clock."
"Mm, understood." Di Mingzhe nodded, then instructed, "Have Dan Lingling co to my office."
Gu Mian was montarily stunned, then bowed his head in acknowledgent, "Yes."
When Dan Lingling arrived at Di Mingzhe’s office, he was reviewing so docunts, not even bothering to lift his eyes.
Just as Dan Lingling was about to speak, Di Mingzhe abruptly said, "You answered my phone."
Dan Lingling was startled, but quickly adopted a professional smile, "Yes, I happened to be picking up so docunts for you when your phone rang, so I answered it."
"As I recall, I left it in the drawer." Di Mingzhe raised his eyes to look at her. His placid expression resembled casual small talk, yet his deep-set eyes hinted at a sharp discernnt.
Just his gaze alone was enough to unsettle Dan Lingling.
"Yes." She hurriedly lowered her eyes, not daring to et his stare, and continued with her excuses, "I was afraid there might be sothing urgent."
Di Mingzhe’s lips curled up in a cold smirk, he lowered his eyes back to the docunts on the desk, and said calmly, "Rember, only Gu Mian can touch my phone. Miss Dan, you are rely a translation officer. Your duties do not include answering my calls. Don’t overstep your boundaries."
"Yes. I’m sorry, Sir." Dan Lingling bit her lower lip, clearly feeling wronged.
"Let it not happen again." Di Mingzhe’s voice was mild as he lifted his gaze again, casting a sowhat aloof and penetrating stare at her.
Dan Lingling shivered, as if frightened, and quickly nodded, "Yes, I understand."
"You can leave." Di Mingzhe lowered his gaze again, his expression unreadable, as if he was already disregarding her presence.
Dan Lingling opened her mouth as if intending to say sothing else, but seeing his face back to its expressionless state, she fell silent again.
After so thought, Dan Lingling didn’t say anything else, and she simply nodded, turned around and left the room.
Naturally, Dan Lingling wasn’t content with the situation, but deep down, she was still scared of Di Mingzhe.
She was considered his junior sister, and her father was a highly-ranking official, as well as Di Mingzhe’s ntor.
You could say that her father was the one who had nurtured Di Mingzhe’s path into politics.
