Shen Yilan subtly withdrew her foot, feigned shock on her face, but inside she sneered coldly, looking forward to seeing Qibao fall on her face.
Gu Qibao was terrified; she scread shrilly and intuitively clutched at her lower abdon.
But everything happened too fast; she had no ti for any other reaction.
Just when she thought she would definitely fall, fortunately Di Mingchen was there looking for her and reached out in ti, pulling her into his arms.
Di Mingchen’s face turned white with fright as he held her hand, anxiously asking, "Are you alright?"
Qibao, too, was scared out of her wits and almost burst into tears. However, she nodded, patting her chest nervously, "I’m fine, I’m fine."
Di Mingjue heard Qibao’s scream and imdiately looked over. Seeing that Qibao was about to fall, he started running towards her.
He was too far away to arrive in ti, but thankfully Di Mingchen appeared just in ti, which was a relief.
Di Mingjue ran over in three large strides, his face awash with extre concern, and very unsettled.
Seeing Di Mingjue running over, Shen Yilan imdiately regretted her actions but quickly regained her composure.
"Mingjue!" Qibao called out as she ran to him, pulling her hand into his and asking anxiously, "Are you alright?"
"I’m fine," Qibao shook her head.
"How could you be so careless?" Di Mingjue frowned, wondering what would have happened if Mingchen hadn’t caught her and she had been injured.
Qibao frowned and involuntarily glanced at Shen Yilan.
Shen Yilan stood there, still fearful at heart, but feigned panic, "Mrs. Di, are you alright? I ant to grab you, but I didn’t react in ti. I’m sorry."
Disgust surged within Qibao. She turned away and said indifferently, "Husband, let’s go back."
She didn’t want to make a scene at the event, especially with so many officials around, including Dan Youguo.
For two won to quarrel over such matters would be embarrassing, truly humiliating for Mingjue. At this mont, she didn’t want to argue or say too much.
"Alright," Di Mingjue nodded, without another word led Qibao away.
Di Mingzhe was explaining to Dan Youguo on the side, "My sister-in-law is pregnant."
Dan Youguo looked enlightened and nodded, "You should have said sothing earlier. It’s a relief she’s fine; let’s wait for them to return."
"En," Di Mingzhe grunted in agreent.
Di Mingchen watched the two leave with a furrowed brow and was about to turn and leave when Shen Yilan approached him.
After glancing at the departing couple, she asked, "Do you know she is Di Mingjue’s wife?"
Di Mingchen felt it was strange and couldn’t help but look at Shen Yilan with a mocking smile, "Do you think I wouldn’t know?"
"Then why are you so close to her?" Shen Yilan raised her eyes towards Di Mingchen.
Di Mingchen was taken aback. Close? When had he been close to Gu Qibao? He wasn’t aware of it.
Before he could speak, Shen Yilan declared, "You like her."
Di Mingchen found it amusing and couldn’t help but retort, "You know I like her?"
Shen Yilan’s eyes brightened, her heart leaping at the thought. This man wasn’t of low military rank, and he could potentially be a valuable ally.
"If you like her, I can help you," Shen Yilan offered brazenly.
Di Mingchen sneered and continued, "And how would you help ?"
"Let’s work together," Shen Yilan whispered. "How about splitting them up?"
As she spoke, she looked up to gauge Di Mingchen’s reaction, only to see his face filled with scorn.
