The air in Penelope’s bedroom hung thick with tension as Cassandra stood frozen in the doorway, her fists clenched at her sides. Her usually bright eyes darkened with a storm of emotions - betrayal, anger, and sothing painfully vulnerable.

Penelope took a graceful step forward, her designer heels clicking softly against the marble floor. "Cassie, baby, I didn’t see you there," she said smoothly, her voice dripping with practiced innocence.

Cassandra’s jaw tightened as she marched forward, inserting herself between Jayden and her mother with surprising protectiveness. "Well, I did," she snapped. "I saw everything you were doing to Jayden."

A slow, amused smile curled Penelope’s lips at her daughter’s defensive stance, while Jayden’s eyebrows shot up in genuine surprise at Cassandra’s unexpected protectiveness.

"Cassandra, I—" Penelope began.

"You were assaulting him, Mom... sexually," Cassandra cut in sharply, her voice trembling with barely contained emotion.

Penelope’s laughter tinkled like wind chis, perfectly calculated. "That’s not what happened, sweetie," she purred, fluttering her lashes. "Jayden was simply helping zip up my dress." She gestured to the perfectly fastened back of her gown as evidence.

Cassandra scoffed loudly, rolling her eyes so hard it looked painful. "Yeah, sure. Is that why you had his hands on your..." She trailed off, flushing pink before shaking her head. "You know what? Just forget it. We’ll talk about this when I get back."

Penelope exhaled dramatically, placing a delicate hand over her heart. "Cassie, I didn’t an to upset you. I’m sorry." she said with a genuine feeling of remorse.

Cassandra’s shoulders slumped slightly, so of the fight leaving her posture. "I’m not mad, Mom... well, maybe I am," she admitted, crossing her arms. "But it’s just... you can’t keep doing this. You’re making Jayden uncomfortable."

[More like she’s making him excited] Luna chid in Jayden’s mind, her tone dripping with amusent.

Jayden’s cheeks burned. "Shut up, Luna," he muttered under his breath.

"My point is..." Cassandra continued, straightening to her full height, "...Jayden is my friend. Mine."

Penelope’s chuckled. "I know, sweetie. I’m not trying to steal him from you or anything." She peeked up through her lashes, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "He’s all yours. Fufu."

Cassandra groaned in frustration, grabbing Jayden’s arm in a surprisingly strong grip. "Ugh... I can’t do this right now. Co on, Jayden, let’s go," she commanded, dragging him toward the door.

"Bye, sweetheart! Have a nice day!" Penelope called after them, her musical voice laced with amusent.

Cassandra responded with nothing but an irritated eye roll, her grip on Jayden’s arm unrelenting as she marched them through the mansion’s opulent halls. The heavy front door slamd behind them with satisfying finality as they stepped into the afternoon sun.

Only when they reached the estate’s wrought iron gates did Cassandra finally release him, spinning to face Jayden with her hands on her hips. "I’m so sorry about my mom, Jayden," she said, her voice thick with apology.

Jayden rubbed his arm absently, offering a small, reassuring smile. "It’s fine, Cassie. Your mom was just having fun."

Cassandra scoffed, kicking a pebble across the pavent. "Yeah, no kidding," she muttered, turning back as stepped out of the mansion, rging into the city’s bustling foot traffic. The sounds of honking hovercars and chattering pedestrians slowly eased the lingering tension between them as they walked side by side into the neon-lit afternoon.

The buzz of the premier shopping district pulsed around them as Jayden and Cassandra stepped into the sprawling ga-mall. The air humd with the chatter of shoppers, the occasional blare of promotional holograms, and the ever-present bassline of pop music filtering through hidden speakers.

Cassandra imdiately lit up, her earlier tension lting away as she grabbed Jayden’s hand. "First stop - couture!" she declared, dragging him toward the luxury boutiques.

At the Clothing Section;

Jayden found himself playing the unlikely role of fashion consultant as Cassandra disappeared into dressing rooms, erging in increasingly elaborate outfits.

"How about this one?" She twirled in a midnight blue cocktail dress that shimred like liquid under the boutique lights.

Jayden’s throat went dry. "It’s... You look stunning."

Cassandra smirked, catching his reaction. "I know." she muttered and went back into the changing booth, to try on another dress. Then after a few minutes, she ca out again.. this ti in a beautiful, erald green dress.

The curtain slid aside and Jayden’s breath caught. The dress hugged Cassandra’s curves like it was painted on, the low back revealing smooth skin that glowed under the boutique’s warm lighting. Tiny crystals sewn into the bodice caught the light with every slight movent, scattering prismatic dots across the walls.

Jayden’s mouth opened, then closed.

Cassandra twirled, the skirt flaring slightly. "Well?"

"You look..." He swallowed hard. "The dress is nice."

Cassandra’s eyes narrowed playfully. "Nice? That’s all I get after standing half-naked in a drafty changing room for twenty minutes?"

Jayden stepped closer, lowering his voice. "What i an to say was... You look like soone I’d fight a dragon for."

The blush that spread across Cassandra’s cheeks matched the ruby tones dancing in her necklace gems.

Few minutes later,

The afternoon sun cast long shadows across the polished marble plaza of Erald Central Mall, its glass facades reflecting golden light onto the bustling crowd below. Jayden adjusted the weight of Cassandra’s growing collection of shopping bags between his fingers as they navigated through the throng of shoppers. The scent of freshly brewed coffee from a nearby kiosk mingled with the floral perfus wafting from the costics departnt.

"Are you sure you needed this many dresses?" Jayden asked, shifting the bags in his grip.

Cassandra turned, her eyes sparkling with amusent as a stray lock of hair escaped from behind her ear. "For soone who moves like a shadow, you complain like an old man carrying groceries," she teased, reaching up to tuck the strand back into place. Then she turned back toward the jewelry section.

The jewelry boutique slled of polished tal and lemon-scented cleaner. Cassandra’s heels clicked against the tile floor as she made a beeline for a display of woven tal bracelets. Jayden watched as she examined each piece with careful consideration, her brow furrowing slightly in concentration.

"This one," she declared suddenly, holding up two matching bracelets - one with delicate silver strands woven around dark blue sapphires, the other with blackened tal cradling deep red rubies.

The elderly shopkeeper smiled as he removed them from the case. "An excellent choice, miss. These are designed to..."

"Change color with body heat, I know," Cassandra finished, rolling the silver bracelet between her fingers. She turned to Jayden with an uncharacteristically shy smile. "Give your wrist."

Jayden extended his arm, watching as her slender fingers fastened the black bracelet just above his wrist bone. The rubies shimred as they made contact with his skin, glowing faintly as if responding to his pulse.

"Now you," he said quietly, taking the silver bracelet from her. Cassandra’s breath hitched slightly as his calloused fingers brushed against the inside of her wrist while fastening the clasp. The sapphires imdiately brightened, casting tiny blue reflections across their skin.

"They’re beautiful," Jayden murmured, his thumb unconsciously tracing the edge of the bracelet where it t her skin.

Cassandra’s lips parted slightly before she seed to catch herself. "Just don’t lose it," she said lightly, though her voice lacked its usual teasing edge.

After a few more detours to the costics section, shoe shop, and chocolate stall, they finally left the mall.
