The office was quiet. Too quiet.

The blinds were half drawn, letting thin strips of afternoon light cut across the room in golden slashes. Jayden sat in the chair opposite Principal Thompson, his posture stiff, his expression unreadable. The principal leaned back in his seat, hands folded on the desk between them, his eyes locked onto Jayden with a piercing calm.

Neither spoke at first, just the sound of the wall clock ticking, each second dragging heavier than the last.

Finally, Principal Thompson broke the silence.

"So... I want to believe you’re already aware of your true nature?"

Jayden’s brows furrowed. "I am." His hand curled into a fist against his knee.

A small chuckle escaped Thompson. "But you don’t seem happy about it, kid. I expected you to be... elated—euphoric, even. After all, who wouldn’t be if they discovered they were a powerful, mythical creature from fairytales and urban legends?"

Jayden scoffed. "Like you just said... I’m a creature. I’m not human... not normal. What’s so fun about that?"

Thompson laughed, the sound echoing off the walls. "Hahaha! Everything, kid. Everything is fun about it. You’re faster, stronger, and more durable than the rest of us humans. Heck, it’s only been weeks since you woke up from that coma, and you’re already as strong as the most powerful student in the school—if not stronger."

"Yeah, you’re right," Jayden muttered, leaning back in his chair. "I’m stronger, faster, more durable... but I’m still a monster."

Thompson sighed, his voice softening. "Don’t say that, kid. I know how you feel—"

"No." Jayden’s eyes sharpened. "You weren’t there that night. I almost killed soone I care about... and I did kill sothing I wasn’t supposed to. And it ca back to haunt ."

Thompson let out a long exhale. "Like I said... I understand what you’re going through. Well... I didn’t go through it myself, but I know soone who did. And she was family."

Jayden tilted his head slightly. "...Miss Kate?"

Thompson chuckled. "Yeah. Kate’s family. And she is a werewolf as well. But... she had it easy."

Jayden’s brows drew tighter.

"I’m talking about my sister," Thompson said, voice tinged with sothing heavier now. "Kate’s mum."

Jayden raised a brow. "I thought she was human."

A darker chuckle rolled out of Thompson. "She was. But... the universe decided otherwise."

Jayden’s gaze narrowed. "...She beca a werewolf?"

Thompson nodded. "Yes."

Jayden’s breath left him in a slow hiss. "So the fictions were true," he thought. "A human can beco a werewolf."

"But how?" he asked aloud.

Thompson smiled faintly. "Exactly like the stories you’ve heard, kid. A bite from the Alpha."

Jayden’s eyes widened slightly. His theory—confird. A werewolf can turn a human through a bite. But there was a catch.

"It has to be an Alpha," he thought.

Then another mory clicked in his mind—the system title. His eyes lit up. "Wait... does that an—"

"Don’t get wrong, kid." Thompson’s voice cut into his thoughts suddenly.

Jayden looked up, brow arched.

"She wasn’t turned by an Alpha," Thompson continued. "She was turned by ’the’ Alpha."

Jayden frowned in confusion. "The Alpha?"

Thompson nodded slowly. "I don’t know how much Kate told you before she left, but in the lycan culture... There is only one Alpha. One ruler. And only they have the power to turn a human into a werewolf."

Jayden inhaled. "...So, who is this werewolf ruler? Is it the mysterious guardian you’ve been talking about all this ti?"

Thompson gave a low chuckle. "No. This is soone else. Soone more powerful... and ancient. Soone we refer to as—The Alpha Supre."

Jayden’s brows rose. "The Alpha Supre?"

"Yes," Thompson said, his tone carrying weight. "I wasn’t told much, but all I know is... they have the power to turn humans into werewolves. And sohow... they turned Cara, my sister."

His voice dropped, softer now—carrying pain. "She was out on an expedition to another planet. EVA mission. It was supposed to be a simple extraction. But... it wasn’t."

Jayden leaned forward, listening intently.

"Their team encountered a horde of powerful beasts," Thompson continued. "Beasts far stronger than the ones on this planet."

Jayden already knew this from the countless stories of pioneers and explorers—how the wildlife on other worlds was far more savage and lethal than anything Alpha had.

"The horde was comprised of B and A-Rank beasts... mostly A-Rank," Thompson said grimly. "Cara’s team didn’t stand a chance. They were wiped out—eighty per cent gone in the first wave."

His jaw tightened. "Cara was the only survivor... but she was badly wounded and unconscious when reinforcents found her. Most of her organs were damaged. She was bleeding internally. Honestly... it was a miracle she was still alive when they got her back here."

Jayden said nothing, his eyes fixed on the man.

"They tried everything," Thompson went on. "Intensive treatnt. High-grade serums. Nothing worked. Her body was too far gone. She was going to die."

A shadow passed over his face. "And then ’he’ ca. He told there was a way to save her... but it would an changing her. Turning her into a lycan. At first, I thought it was insane. But then... he ntioned the Alpha Supre."

Jayden’s gaze deepened.

"I didn’t want to turn my sister into a werewolf," Thompson admitted. "But I had no choice. She was in pain. Dying. Leaving us. So I consented to the transformation."

He leaned back, staring at the ceiling for a mont. "The next morning... my sister woke up. All her wounds, all her injuries—gone. Completely healed. She was better than she’d ever been. Stronger. Faster. Healthier. It felt like magic. And thankfully, EVA just saw it as a miracle."

Jayden finally spoke, voice low. "...Is that why you’re working for him? Because he healed your sister? Because you owe him?"

Thompson gave a dry laugh. "Maybe. Or maybe not. After all, the happiness... was short-lived."

Jayden’s brow furrowed. "...What do you an?"

Thompson’s eyes darkened. "After her transformation... Cara seed like herself again. At first."

Jayden tilted his head, waiting.

"But then she began displaying... abnormal traits," Thompson said. "Strength far beyond her peers. Heightened senses. Irrational bursts of anger. And an insatiable hunger for battle... and blood."

Jayden’s jaw tightened.

"At first, we thought we could control it. We were wrong. It only got worse. She picked fights with both humans and beasts—seeking the thrill of the kill. And then it happened ..." His voice dropped lower. "...Her first full moon."

Jayden’s eyes sharpened. "...What happened?"

Thompson was silent for several seconds before answering. "She lost control after her full transformation into a lycan and broke free from the containnt we’d put her in. By the ti we found her... she’d killed soone. An innocent teenager."

His voice was heavy now. "She was so consud by guilt, she begged us to... end her life. She knew it was only a matter of ti before EVA found out what she was. And we both knew... that would be a fate worse than death."

Jayden’s expression was unreadable.

"But I couldn’t do it," Thompson continued. "I couldn’t kill my sister. So he took her... and left her on a planet ruled by beasts. Left her fate to be decided by how long she could survive."

He stared at his desk, voice quieter. "For the first six months, I visited her often. Watched from a distance. Gave her supplies. Hoped she’d learn to control it and co back to us."

Thompson’s face darkened. "But one day, I went like I always did... and she was gone. No trace. We searched the planet, but all we found were... ripped clothes, and traces of her blood."

A long pause.

"Whether she was lost sowhere on that planet... or dead... one thing was certain." His voice was steady now, but cold.

"My sister was gone forever. Never to be seen again."
