The captain had received information on the twins, what they looked like and how they were heading in the direction where he was, so he just had both himself and the other n in the area go into stealth mode, thus luring Jayden and Jasmine out and giving their current predicant.
"What are you going to do to us!" Jayden voiced out, his eyes full of hate for this people. Little did he know, they hadn't even done the worst yet.
The captain smiled "Nothing if you cooperate. You both look like normal humans, but we have to test that." he stated
Jayden frowned "What does he an by test? Are they going to take our blood or sothing?" he pondered in his mind, his heart racing
"Don't worry, your mother is safe, we won't harm her as well, at least if she isn't later identified as a variant," he added, as he looked at Jasmine who was clutching unto Jayden's arm tightly.
Jayden was stunned, this man already knew about his mother. But he was not happy about that, it ant she was already a target.
Before he could say anything, the captain signaled to one of his n. The man nodded and walked towards him and his sister, taking out a small rod-like device.
"What's that?" Jayden asked with wary
"That is a primal sonic tester. Through sound waves the device can induce the aggressive instinct of a beast or soone with beast like physiology. This will not only detect, but all bring out the inner beast in a person who has beast features, like the oneiri." the captain explained, as the man arrived in front of the twins
"I miss mummy," Jasmine whispered
"It's going to be fine, we'll see her again. Let's just survive this first," Jayden assured her
The man stretched the device towards them and pushed a button on it's top. But nothing happened, Jayden didn't even hear anything.
"Huh? Perhaps it's broken." he thought, but both the captain and the man's expression didn't change, it was as if they knew this would happen
"Or perhaps it's supposed to take so ti before..."
"Ah!"
Jayden heard a slight grunt from his side, it was Jasmine. She released her grip from his arm and clutched unto her head, gritting her teeth as well. It was clear that she was in pain.
Jayden's felt his blood boil seeing his sister like that, he clenched his fist and stared at the captain.
"Stop this! You're hurting her!" he yelled, but the captain didn't reply
"It hurts Jayden... The sound, it hurts..." Jasmine cried softly, trying to cover her ear
Jayden quickly placed his hands on her ear as well, trying to block whatever sound was hurting his sister. A sound he could not hear.
The captain raised an eyebrow "This girl... but why can't the boy hear the sound? Aren't they twins?" he thought
"Please make it stop!" Jayden pleaded, staring at Jasmine who was now quiet but still making sob sounds
"You're sister can hear the sound, it is a type of frequency that can only be heard by beasts or... variants." the captain stated and walked forward
"What does he an by that? Is he saying that Jasmine is an oneiri? But she... i don't hear the sound, how is that possible?" Jayden thought
Wait! What are they going to do with her!" he exclaid in his head, rembering that these people were here to eliminate all beastn.
Suddenly Jasmine was now completely silent, she wasn't even whining or shaking anymore. She just remained on the spot, motionless.
Jayden along with the captain and the man holding the device were surprised, the device was still active, but it didn't seem to be affecting her anymore.
"Jasmine, are you okay?" Jayden asked with a worried look, and she responded.
But it wasn't a normal response of words, Jasmine answered with a growl and raised her head, which was originally facing the ground.
Jayden had a look of horror when he saw his sister's face, he moved away from her out of instinct. He didn't want to, but he had to.
"What... How? Uh... Jas..." he stamred as he took in her new facial features
She had grown fangs, along with other sharp teeths, her face was now completely yellow, her eyes glowing red, and she looked really mad.
Jayden's gaze shifted to her body, her fingers had developed claws, and the parts of her skin that were exposed were now yellow and covered with black spots as well, making her look like a human cheetah hybrid.
She looked at Jayden nacingly snarling and baring her fangs, this struck his heart. The sweet loving sister of his, one who would never even hurt a fly, had now beco a beast that looked like she could rip soone's throat at any mont... And she did.
Jasmine's gaze shifted to the man holding the device "You..." she growled, her voice thick and filled with rage.
And within the blink of an eye, she arrived directly at his front and swiped her claws violently at his thighs, causing him to fall on his knees, and without wasting a single second, jabbed the claws into his throat, killing him on the spot.
This shock the other n as her claws had pierced through strong tal, twice and to top it all, she was just a kid. They imdiately tried to engage her, taking out their weapons and activating their abilities, but the captain stooped them.
"Wait!" he declared, raising his hands in the air.
This confused all of them, including Jayden who kept staring at Jasmine, not with a look of fear, but of sorrow and pity. He wasn't terrified of her, Infact he was more angry with the n, they made her like that. It was their fault.
What happened next shocked everybody, Jasmine suddenly beca unconscious and fell to the ground, but before her body could hit the floor she was grabbed by sothing, one that nobody could see. It looked like her body was floating.
The thing raised her up and revealed itself, it was one of them, another mber of their team. It was a woman, the sa one that the captain had spoke to first through his watch. She had entered stealth mode and injected Jasmine with sothing.
After the leader of delta team had reported everything, the captain contacted her again and told her to co over to their location, but remain out of sight until he gave the order. And when Jasmine had just transford completely, he gave the command.
Jayden's eye widened, his heart skipped a beat as he saw Jasmine's unconscious body in the woman's arms. She had completely reverted back to her human self, with all the cheetah features gone. His mind had only one conclusion "No! She can't be... No," he thought
"Noo! What did you do to her?" he yelled as he ran towards the woman, but was quickly grabbed by the captain.
"Relax boy, she's not dead. We've only rendered her unconscious," he stated
Jayden didn't believe him, afterall these were the sa people that massacred a bunch of beastn children just minutes ago, so why would they leave Jasmine alive.
"Don't worry, we won't kill her, just like we won't kill your mother. Sohow they are able to switch between human and oneiri which is a unique... Infact it's practically impossible. But you seem to completely human." the captain continued to explain
Jayden didn't even care about what he said, he had also witnessed his mother develop fangs and claws, which made him wonder if they were all truly oneiri in the first instance, but it also begged the question, why didn't he hear the sound or even transform.
The captain pondered this as well, as he stared at Jayden curiously
"What are you going to do to her?... and my mum?" Jayden asked, still staring at his sister
"Well, i can't say, we definitely have to take them into custody, including giving you a test to confirm if you're fully human... or like them."
"But my hypothesis is that you and your sister are actually hybrids, maybe even your mother as well, which makes you special. Did you know your father?" the captain asked
Jayden didn't understand all he was saying, he didn't even know what the word 'hybrid' ant. But he didn't feel obligated to answer the man either, he hated them for what they did to his ho, how they killed everyone he had known.
But he didn't care anymore, he shook his head in response. Their mother always told them that their father was an explorer, who traveled the galaxies and had gone missing during a mission on a distant planet. Jayden and his sister never always bothered to ask about it much, they could always see the pain on their mother's face each ti she ntioned their father. Besides they both felt that she was enough for a parent.
It was one of the reasons Jayden also wanted to beco an explorer, he had just little hope, that he could still find his father and make his mother happy again. But now... it had been destroyed and he knew that sohow even if he managed to escape this situation, his life won't be normal again.
"Alright ruby, take her to the second ship, we'll ride in the main shuttle," the captain ordered, and the woman nodded. She began walking away with Jasmine in her hands.
Jayden grew wild "What are you doing! You can't take her away! No, I'm supposed to be with her, I'm supposed to protect her!" he yelled and tried to go after the woman but the captain's grip on his arm was inhumanly strong. He couldn't break free.
"I'm sorry kid, but this is protocol. You'll see her again if you turn out to be like her, but if not..." he sighed, as the woman completely disappeared from the area with Jasmine.
"What is he trying to say? Does this an if I'm not able to transform into an oneiri, i won't see her or mother again?" Jayden thought, but a sound from the captain's walkie talkie snapped him from his thoughts.
"Captain,"
"Yes, has the situation been resolved?" the captain asked
"Uhm... well, kind of," a voice replied from the other end of the transmission. It was the leader of delta team, the man who had given him a report on the twins and their mother.
"What do you an by that? Speak to straight cadet!" the captain replied impatiently
The voice sighed "Sir it's the woman, she's been... compromised."
