Ruth said with particular seriousness, "You must have kept this from Lily, right? Otherwise she would have definitely discussed it with . You’re sisters, that’s true, but accounts must be settled clearly. You both have your own families now."
Luis was stunned hearing this, and thought to himself that his Mother-in-law had been trained quite well by him now.
She used to be an unreasonable shrew, but now she spoke so sensibly and reasonably, it was almost as if she had beco a completely different person.
Seeing Nancy’s nervous expression, he knew she definitely hadn’t admitted to anything. She would even likely argue stubbornly, saying sothing like, ’Wait until your brother-in-law cos back and ask him, then you’ll know.’
However, no one knows a daughter better than her mother. Ruth did not believe her excuses and had asked so directly because she was afraid of turmoil within the family.
Luis smiled nonchalantly and said, "Mom, so that’s what you were talking about. It seems Big Sister trusts a great deal."

Ruth pressed for an explanation.
"Big Sister said her husband was unreliable, and after what happened last ti, she asked if I could help her with so investnts. I thought, since we’re all family, I agreed. Big Sister transferred 20,000 dollars to . After this recent issue ca up, she asked to return the money to her first."
"I originally thought Big Sister had quite a sizable private fund, but it turns out it was borrowed money."
Luis laughed heartily and said in a joking tone, "Thanks for Big Sister’s trust. Good thing I didn’t abscond with the funds."
This explanation was flawless. Ruth believed it as soon as she heard it, primarily because she was now completely obedient to her most considerate second son-in-law.
"So that’s how it is. Tsk, causing such a big stir, and you two still kept it from ."
Ruth chided them, and then, showing her practical nature, imdiately asked, "If you withdraw the money right after investing, doesn’t that an you get no returns?"
Nancy looked at Luis with gratitude in her eyes. Now feeling confident, she imdiately stepped forward and embellished the story, "Mom, if they hadn’t pressured so much and I wasn’t worried about putting you in a difficult position, I definitely wouldn’t have taken it out early."
"Brother-in-law said that terminating the contract early ans forfeiting all profits, so I actually lost so interest too."
Nancy added, sounding genuinely wronged, "I was so happy for the longest ti that Brother-in-law was willing to help earn so money, and I was planning to surprise you all. But then this whole ss happened, and I ended up losing both my investnt and facing marital strife."

Ruth’s personality was such that she couldn’t stand losing out, especially upon hearing that money was lost. She flew into a rage instantly, "What the hell does that dog catching mice have to do with him? He has no talent for making money himself, but he’s absolutely top-notch at holding others back."
The ability of won to fabricate stories and distort the truth so smoothly was astonishing. Luis was utterly stunned listening to this. Then, catching his sister-in-law secretly batting her seductive eyes at him, he could only cough lightly and play along,
"Mom, it’s fine. Those investnt contracts are still active."
"I advanced Big Sister the 20,000 dollars from my own funds, so the future returns from those investnts will still be secured."
Luis quickly tried to soothe her, knowing that if he didn’t, given his Mother-in-law’s temperant, being cut off from potential wealth would probably make her homicidal.
Sure enough, Ruth was too incensed to let it go, slapping the table angrily, "Son-in-law, I know you’re doing this for the family’s good, but that bastard Daniel has gone too far."
"Mom, at least her mother-in-law made her position clear. She’s tight on funds now but can still co up with two or three thousand dollars, right?"
"Bullshit. Her family scraping together two or three thousand is nothing. Daniel’s monthly spending is always over a thousand dollars, and if he drinks heavily, it’s easily more than a thousand."

Ruth finally smiled, pinching Nancy’s cheek affectionately. Just then, her phone rang.
Even though Yana was at work, there was never a shortage of idle card partners during the day, and a card ga was arranged in just a few words.
Ruth hung up the phone and said, "I’m all sweaty. I’ll go take a shower first. You two handle lunch yourselves. That bitch Aunt Kiara has lost her mind today, actually saying she wants to treat everyone."

Once the Mother-in-law left, they were alone, a man and a woman by themselves. The sister-in-law, Nancy, unusually a bit shy, ran upstairs.
Luis didn’t stop her, humming a little tune as he lay back on the sofa and fiddled with his phone. Logging into his account, there were still many ssages on Whatsapp. Replying to them one by one helped maintain the warmth and connection with all the won.

So the Mother-in-law ca over and sat beside Luis’s legs, saying, "Son-in-law, I won’t bring up what you said today again.

It was clear she still had so doubts. A mother knows her daughter best, after all. Her thinking was, given her mother-in-law’s family’s attitude, even if Nancy did so part-ti job with her spendthrift habits, she couldn’t possibly earn that much money unless she was selling her body.
But seeing her these past few days staying at her mother’s house, that didn’t seem to be the case. That 20,000 dollar investnt definitely wasn’t as much as she claid; probably her son-in-law had subsidized a portion.
