Jax continued to look at Alexi for a mont after she finished speaking, and then he smiled. It wasn’t a mocking smile or a cold smile of a ruler with a calculating advantage.

Instead he was very calm and relaxed, not at all bothered by anything Alexi or Natasha said.

"Well," he said lightly, setting his cup of demon tea back onto the table, "You all being much weaker than is only natural."

Alexi tilted her head as she heard that, staring at him with her curious eyes and questioning, "Natural?"

Jax leaned back in his chair, stretching one arm across the backrest with effortless ease, "Well I’m was summoned here and blessed by the Three Demon Goddesses," he said casually, staring back at her.

"Expecting you guys to be able to handle with your Split blessings from your Goddess would be optimistic. I was already better than all of you anyway," He finished with a chuckle.

Alexi stared at him for a mont and then burst out laughing, "That’s definitely right. After that first battle where you kidnapped Natasha, we’d pretty much lost all hope,"

Alexi said, looking at Natasha who raised an eyebrow an curved her lips slightly, though her amusent was quieter.

"We thought we’d get stronger after training specifically to defeat you, but seeing what happened, we really never stood a chance, you’re way too strong,"

Alexi leaned across the table suddenly, planting her elbow beside his plate as she studied his face.

"You speak about defeating all of us so casually," she said, "But it’s actually insane when you think about it."

Jax raised an eyebrow as he heard that, "Is it?"

"Yes," she said imdiately. "Three divine blessings. Demon clans bowing to you. A kingdom growing stronger every week. And you’re still wandering around the capital disguised just to see how people live."

She shook her head with a grin.

"You really are ridiculous."

Jax chuckled softly.

"Perhaps."

Alexi’s violet eyes glead with sothing warr now.

"You know what the funniest part is?"

"What?"

She leaned closer.

"You deserve it."

Natasha watched quietly as Alexi continued.

"You didn’t just show up here and take power," Alexi said. "You built it. Organized it. Stabilized the Demon Kingdom. You’ve done more for this world in months than most kings do in decades."

Jax regarded her calmly.

"And yet I am still the villain of their story."

Alexi shrugged and continued, "Heroes need a villain, plus I guess both and Natasha are now Heroes turned Villains by you,"

Natasha added quietly,

"And the Church needs a symbol."

Silence settled across the table for a mont.

Then Alexi’s playful energy returned as she nudged Jax’s shoulder.

"But honestly?" she said. "I’m glad you’re stronger than them."

"Oh?"

She grinned, "Because if you weren’t... then I wouldn’t of been able to get with you," She said.

Jax studied her for a mont.

Then he reached out, pulling her gently closer by the waist.

Alexi blinked in surprise.

"What,"

Her sentence never finished.

Jax leaned in and kissed her.

It wasn’t rushed.

Just confident and warm.

Alexi froze for half a second before imdiately kissing him back, one hand grabbing the front of his shirt as if she’d been waiting for that mont.

Across the table Natasha sighed softly.

"Predictable."

Jax broke the kiss a mont later and turned his head slightly toward her.

"You sound disappointed."

Natasha stood from her chair and walked around the table.

"Not at all."

She stopped beside him, placing one hand lightly against his shoulder.

"You simply started without including ."

Jax chuckled.

"An oversight."

He pulled her closer as well, kissing her with the sa calm confidence.

Natasha’s normally composed deanor softened slightly as she returned the gesture.

When the mont ended, Alexi leaned back in her chair with an exaggerated sigh.

"Well," she said dramatically, "that certainly improved lunch."

Jax stood from the table.

"I’m glad to hear it."

Alexi looked up.

"You’re leaving already?"

"For now."

Natasha tilted her head.

"Business?"

Jax nodded.

"Yes."

Alexi crossed her arms.

"Let guess. Sothing mysterious and dangerous?"

"Sothing informative."

He stepped toward the doorway leading back into the courtyard.

Alexi followed him halfway there.

"So where are you going?"

Jax glanced back over his shoulder.

"To Luria."

Both won paused.

"The human kingdom?" Alexi said.

"Yes."

Natasha’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully.

"You’re going alone."

"Yes."

Alexi frowned slightly.

"That sounds risky."

Jax smiled faintly.

"I’ll be undercover."

Her ears perked.

"Oh."

Now that sounded more interesting.

"You’re going to spy on them?"

"Observe," Jax corrected. "Listen. Understand."

Natasha nodded slowly.

"The heroes are still operating out of the Kingdom of Luria."

"Exactly."

Jax stepped into the courtyard, the soft sound of the fountain filling the air again.

Alexi leaned against the doorway watching him.

"You’re going to see how humans actually feel about everything."

"Yes."

"The war."

"Yes."

"The Church."

"Yes."

"And the heroes."

Jax gave a small nod.

Alexi smirked.

"Tell Killian I said hi."

Jax laughed quietly.

"I’ll consider it."

Natasha crossed her arms lightly.

"Try not to destroy an entire kingdom while you’re there."

"No promises."

Alexi grinned.

"When you get back," she said, "we’re definitely continuing this conversation."

Jax paused near the gate.

"Oh?"

She folded her hands behind her back.

"You said we’d have more fun soti soon."

Jax’s eyes glinted with amusent.

"Yes," he said. "I did."

He opened the gate.

"And I keep my promises."

With that, he stepped out onto the quiet street.

His illusion magic shifted again instantly, altering his presence, his aura, even the subtle weight of his mana signature.

Within seconds he was just another traveler walking through the capital.

But his destination was already clear in his mind.

The Kingdom of Luria.

The human capital where the Church held enormous influence.

Where the remaining heroes trained.

Where rumors of the Demon King were whispered with fear.

Jax casted a spell and vanished, intending to learn exactly what his enemies are planning.
