“Itchy?” I asked, not moving closer.

“Welts the size of my paw, all over your body.” He touched it again and it vanished. “Given their magical nature, I don’t know if I could cure that, so we don’t want to tempt it.”

Being able to fly sat high on my list of things to do, but magical itchy welts did not. I grudgingly agreed that this ti it wasn’t worth it, and I appreciated the Cat looking out for . At so point I’d be able to fly. I knew one of the dragons wouldn’t mind giving a ride if I asked, as long as it wasn’t a rude thing to ask.

Either way, it was ti to think about lunch.

“What do you want for lunch today?” I asked the Cat. Usually I just made sothing, but he had just saved from magical welts.

The Cat glanced at as his tail flickered in the air. “Whatever is easy; we have a custor this afternoon.”

The image of that massive hunk of gold kept popping up in my head. “Sothing simple sounds perfect.”

While I appreciated that Indigo could pay for the purchases, I now needed to open a savings account for her, sohow, since she technically didn’t exist on my world. Then again, I bet Betty could co up with a smaller hunk of gold to give back to Indigo.

Easy ant sandwiches, and I pulled out bread, butter and cheese.

The flat griddle appeared on the top of the stove, making smile. I quickly got to work buttering the bread to make the grilled cheese. All of us loved grilled cheese.

The Cat landed on the island and purred seeing the ingredients.

“You have introduced to such tasty food, I appreciate it,” he said with a little purr.

I’d pet his head, but I didn’t want to get cat hair near our food. “Just the basics from my world. Bacon, grilled cheese…”

“Chinese food, pasta, and all the sweets,” he added.

“Oh, a bacon and tomato grilled cheese is even better than a regular,” I said, my mind going to sothing a little less simple.

A ripe tomato and cooked bacon appeared on the island next to the Cat.

“Thank you, Betty!”

I added it to the sandwiches before putting them in a line on the griddle. The sizzle as the butter and bread hit the pan slled amazing. A latte didn’t sound great for my sandwich, so after lunch I’d need to make so tea.

Maybe sothing sweet, or creamy.

My mind checked out on the sandwiches as I went through so different combinations of tea that I could make this afternoon for a treat.

I flipped the sandwiches on autopilot, and thankfully they stuck together enough to not go all over the place. The trick with grilled cheese was getting the cheese gooey while the bread was not too crispy.

My stomach growled as the sandwiches continued to grill. I turned around to clean up the ss and Betty had already taken care of it.

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

“Oh, that was fast, Betty,” I whispered.

Warmth pulsed under my feet, and a sudden impression rippled through of contentness.

I patted the island with a smile.

“So, what’s the plan for this afternoon?” I asked the Cat, who stared at the sandwiches on the stove.

He blinked and turned to , his tail swishing back and forth on the island. “Another easy one, we are buying ingredients for a different custor.”

“Anything magical?”

He nodded his head and his whiskers twitched. “Yes, and I only need to do a touch of extra magic to combine them before we resell them.”

“That should be an easy afternoon. Do you think we could do the follow up today as well? Or, do you need to recover after the magic?” I flipped the sandwiches again, checking the bottom of the bread. So far so good, but I wanted them to be just a little more crispy.

“We could push and do both this afternoon,” he said quietly.

“As long as it’s not too much for you,” I said, turning to look at him. “I don’t want to rush you or anything.”

“No, it's fine.” He turned to look away, as I focused on the stove.

Not burning the sandwiches was key at this point.

Three plates appeared on the counter next to the stove, and I plated all of them up once I thought they were perfect.

Indigo’s I cut diagonally twice into little triangle pieces, to make it easy for her to pick up. The Cat’s and mine I cut in half.

“Hey Betty, can you send that up to Indigo?” I asked.

The plate sank into the counter.

A loud chirp echoed through the hallway and the plate appeared on the island just as I turned with the other two.

“I’m here!” Indigo flew into the kitchen as I sat down. “Just finished my class. Classes are hard!”

I took a big bite of my sandwich and ntally gave myself a hive five. Crunchy bacon, lty cheese, and the sharp acidic bite of the tomato went perfectly with the grilled bread.

Even the Cat looked impressed as a quarter of his sandwich vanished at once.

After I chewed and swallowed, I nodded at Indigo. “But fun, right?”

“Oh, yes, fun,” she said between tiny bites. “Hard to use voice-to-text, but lots of fun. Learning about colors and mixing them. Oh, and light theory.”

Art class ant I was safe from trying to figure out any math.

Indigo glanced at the Cat. “Is glamor just ssing with light, and how it hits surfaces?”

The Cat snorted and stopped eating. “Glamor deals with modifying your physical form to match your internal soul shape. That then changes how light hits you. Illusion, which is used by plenty of fey, though I tend to avoid it, is only modifying the light distribution. Glamor is the harder magic to use.”

“That’s what the bookseller used, illusion…” I said, thinking of how his form shifted.

“Yes, that is a great example of illusion.” The Cat took another bite of his sandwich before responding. “He changes his form, but none of it is real. It’s all light and shadow.”

“Glamore is real though; you can touch it,” added Indigo with her eyes narrowed, before nodding. “Art is like sharing a vision or dream.”

A shiver went up my spine at the word dream. While I still didn’t have a handle on asking questions then dreaming about them, I could do it. Though I didn’t want to share those.

“Soday, you might get the chance to go to an art museum and see great works from famous artists,” I said with a grin. I loved going to the art museum. I hadn’t taken a ton of art classes, but sothing inside practically beca a kid in a candy shop at a good museum. Let alone the gift shops that museums usually had. They had the best gifts, toys, and books.

“The dragon clans have a massive museum that is open to everyone,” said the Cat, while staring forlornly at his plate, which was now empty. “I bet that stone could tell you all about it.”

“Lorestone could.” The magic rock was from the art clan, after all.

“Ohhh, maybe we could go!” Indigo’s eyes went big and she suddenly ate faster, taking bite after bite, much bigger than before. “Or the one the class talks about.”

This didn’t sound like the basic art classes I thought she had selected.

“What class is this for?” I asked.

“Oh, I have basic color arts, but also art history.” Indigo nodded. “The colors class ntioned a person I didn’t know, and this class explains how art developed in your world.”

I chuckled. “I thought you weren’t going to add any more classes?”
