Location: Shizuoka Prefecture – Grandma Saki's House

Ti: The Next Morning

The morning sun shined brightly through the living room windows.

CLINK. CLATTER.

The dining table was completely packed.

Plates of eggs, rice, grilled fish, and miso soup covered every inch of the wood. The house was loud, warm, and full of life.

"Can you pass the soy sauce, Kazuho?" Koichi's mother asked, reaching her hand out across the table.

"Here you go," Kazuho smiled, handing the small bottle over.

Sitting on the floor mat, Kenji used a napkin to wipe mashed rice off baby Emi's face. Kimiko laughed, pouring him a fresh cup of green tea.

The television in the corner was playing the morning news. A reporter was talking about the massive highway repairs going on across the country after the global disasters.

BEEP.

Kaito aid the remote at the TV and turned the volu all the way down. He didn't want to hear about the end of the world while eating breakfast. He set the remote down and took a sip of his coffee.

"I still can't believe it," Kazuho's mother said. She looked around the living room walls, shaking her head. "The news said the earthquake yesterday was a magnitude nine. But this house didn't even shake. There isn't a single crack in the ceiling."

Koichi's mother nodded in agreent, picking up a piece of fish with her chopsticks. "We are so lucky. It felt like the ground outside was going to split open, but it felt totally safe in here."

Kaito set his coffee mug down. He gave them a polite, friendly smile.

"It wasn't just luck," Kaito said casually.

Makoto stopped chewing her food. She looked over at Kaito.

"When Grandma Saki decided to move here a while ago, I pulled so strings," Kaito lied smoothly. He didn't even blink. "Because I secured the managent contract with Detnerar Company and I-Island back then, David Shield owed a favor. I had the Detnerat-Shield Company send so private contractors over in secret. They installed military-grade seismic dampeners deep under the foundation of the house."

"Oh my goodness!" Koichi's mom gasped. "You can do that?!"

"Detnerat-Shield is the top support company right now," Kaito explained simply. "They have amazing building materials. I just asked them to prioritize this address."

COUGH.

Kazuho coughed violently into her fist. Koichi quickly shoved a huge bite of rice into his mouth so he wouldn't laugh out loud.

Makoto just stared at her plate, biting her lower lip hard. The "secret squad" knew exactly why the house didn't shake.

Hero X literally enhanced this house and even reality-warped the tectonic plates to lock them in place.

But Kaito's cover story was so good and grounded in real-world business that the parents bought it completely.

"You really take care of your grandma, Kaito," Kazuho's mom smiled warmly. "Speaking of your job... what is All Might really like? We only see him on television."

Kaito laughed a little. He leaned his elbows on the table.

"Haha... He is very loud," Kaito said truthfully. "Even when he is just asking for a glass of water, he projects his voice across the whole room. And he is terrible with modern technology. He types on his smartphone using just his index finger, and he always forgets to turn his ringtone down."

The parents laughed. It was a nice relief to hear that the Symbol of Peace was just a normal, slightly clumsy older guy behind the scenes.

After a few more minutes of eating, Grandma Saki stood up.

"Alright, let's get these plates cleared," Saki said. "Co help in the kitchen, ladies."

The parents and Saki gathered the empty plates and walked into the kitchen.

The mont they were completely out of earshot, the relaxed atmosphere shifted instantly.

Thump. Thump.

Skrrt.

Koichi leaned across the table, his eyes wide.

"Dude," Koichi whispered excitedly. "I saw the live feed on a giant screen in Tokyo. You folded him! You literally folded the Demon King like a piece of laundry!"

Kazuho grabbed Kaito's arm and shook it. "And you slapped the earth! You slapped the earth and stopped an earthquake! How does that even work?!"

"This guy even made a ga tsunami look like an origami." Iwao added on the side.

Kaito just laughed softly, waving his hand to calm them down.

"It's over now," Kaito smiled. "How did things go on your end? You guys were up against Number Six, right?"

Iwao rubbed his bandaged arm and grinned.

"We took him down," Iwao said proudly. "He was incredibly fast, but we managed to box him in. We used the motorcycle gift you gave Koichi last ti. The AI on that thing is no joke. It drove itself and fed us tactical routes while deploying heavy support gears."

"Yeah, being a licensed pro hero and your friend really has its perks," Koichi grinned, pointing a thumb at his chest.

"Hey, it helps when your ntor is the Number Four pro hero in Japan," Kaito joked, nodding at Iwao.

"I didn't get to fight much," Kazuho chid in, leaning back on the couch. "But Soga, Rapt, Moyoru and I basically ran the entire evacuation route for our sector. We got thousands of civilians into the shelters before the tremors even hit."

"You all did great," Makoto smiled.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

Suddenly, three phones went off at the exact sa ti.

Iwao pulled his phone out of his pocket. Koichi and Kazuho checked theirs.

Their excited smiles instantly vanished.

Sigh.

"It's a mandatory summons," Iwao sighed, standing up from the table. "The HPSC wants every active pro hero in Japan to report to the Tokyo assembly hall right now."

"Duty calls," Koichi groaned, pushing his chair back. "I was really looking forward to a nap."

"Be careful out there!" Koichi's mom called out from the kitchen as the three pro heroes grabbed their jackets.

After they rushed out the front door, the house got a lot quieter.

*-*-*-*

Ti: A few hours later

Makoto walked back into the living room holding a fresh cup of coffee.

She walked over to the couch and sat down next to Kaito. He had his laptop open on his lap.

CLICK. CLACK. CLICK.

He was typing fast, completely focused on the screen.

"What are you doing?" Makoto asked, looking over his shoulder to look at the screen.

She blinked. Her eyes went wide.

The screen was filled with property listings in the Naruhata ward.

But they weren't normal listings. They were comrcial buildings, warehouses, and empty lots.

"I'm buying real estate," Kaito said casually. He clicked a button, sending a massive wire transfer to close a deal right in front of her.

"Kaito... did you just buy a shopping center?" Makoto asked, completely dumbfounded.

"Yep. And that makes it twenty-two," Kaito answered, taking a sip of his coffee. "The earthquake damaged a lot of comrcial properties in Naruhata. The current owners are terrified of aftershocks, so they are panicking and selling them off at a massive discount just to cut their losses."

Makoto pointed out, her business background kicking in. "Why do you want distressed assets?"

"Because I already own twenty-one other buildings in Naruhata," Kaito said, looking at her. "I'm going to rebuild all of them. I'm going to hire Detnerat-Shield contractors to supply high-end, quirk-resistant materials. We will upgrade the buildings, fix the roads, and turn Naruhata into a highly modernized, premier hero ward."

"..."

Makoto just stared at him. She was speechless. It was an incredibly brilliant, ruthless business strategy.

He was basically buying half the ward to rebuild it better than before.

"Wait," Makoto said, her eyes catching a familiar address on his screen.

She pointed at it. "Is that our apartnt building? The one Iwao, Koichi, and I live in?"

"Yeah," Kaito nodded. "I'm scheduling an upgrade for it next month. We are adding a third floor and reinforcing the walls."

Makoto's jaw dropped open. "You own our apartnt building?!"

"I bought it a month after I moved in," Kaito shrugged, looking back at the screen.

"Ugh." Makoto covered her face with her hands, letting out a loud groan.

She couldn't believe it.

The entire ti she was living there, and the entire ti Koichi and Kazuho were running around, their quiet neighbor was secretly their landlord.

"Why didn't you ever tell us?!" Makoto asked in disbelief.

Kaito just looked at her with a completely straight face.

"You guys never bothered to ask," Kaito replied.

Location: Tokyo – HPSC Assembly Hall

Ti: Afternoon

The massive hall was packed shoulder to shoulder.

Every active pro hero in Japan was there.

From the top ten all the way down to the local rookies, they filled the seats and the aisles.

The noise level was absolutely deafening.

Thousands of people were talking over each other, trying to figure out what was going on.

TAP. TAP.

Yokumiru ra tapped the microphone on the main stage.

"Quiet down!" ra barked, rubbing his tired eyes.

The heroes stopped talking. They looked up at the stage. The HPSC Madam President stood right next to ra, her face cold and completely serious.

"Let's get straight to the numbers," ra announced into the mic. "Out of the three hundred high-profile villains that broke out of Tartarus, we recovered exactly half. One hundred and fifty were captured alive using the shoulder-slice thod to bypass their suicide actions."

A wave of relieved mutters went through the crowd.

"What about the other half?!" a hero yelled from the middle row.

"They turned to ash of course," ra answered bluntly. "One hundred and fifty turned to ash on the yesterday or the past weeks when so of the pro heroes managed to corner and capture them. As for our side, we have over four thousand heroes currently treating injuries in hospitals nationwide. But thanks to the evacuation efforts... there are zero civilian casualties."

"Nice!"

"Thank god!"

Loud cheers and sighs of relief echoed through the massive room.

"However, the infrastructure damage is massive," Madam President spoke up, taking the microphone. "Cities and highways are torn apart. But we caught a major break. The Detnerat Company just contacted us an hour ago."

The heroes quieted down and listened closely.

"Their CEO, Rikiya Yotsubashi, has officially offered to sponsor the entire national reconstruction effort," the President explained. "Detnerat is supplying all heavy construction gear, support items, and building materials completely for free. For the next month, all mid-tier and lower-ranked heroes are reassigned to disaster relief. You will work directly alongside Detnerat crews to rebuild the wards."

"That's a massive PR move for them," soone muttered near the front.

"What about the captured villains?" another hero shouted. "When are they going back to Tartarus?"

"They aren't," ra shook his head. "Tartarus is permanently decommissioned. The breach was too severe, and the villains already morized the layout. It's useless now. The prisoners are currently sitting in temporary HPSC vaults until we finish building a new, undisclosed black-site facility."

Endeavor pushed his way to the very front of the crowd. He crossed his massive arms, his beard flaring with fire.

"Forget the foot soldiers," Endeavor demanded loudly, "Where is the boss? Did All For One die or what?"

Footsteps echoed from the side of the stage.

Step. Step.

All Might walked out. He wasn't wearing his hero costu.

He was just wearing a loose yellow suit. In his right hand, he carried a small, thick glass box secured with a heavy titanium lock.

THUD.

He set the glass box down on the podium.

Inside the box was a crumpled ball of white paper.

"He is not dead," All Might said, his deep voice carrying across the entire hall. "He is trapped inside this paper. Hero X sealed him."

The heroes in the front row leaned in, squinting.

Through the thick glass, they could actually see tiny, flat 2D figures sitting.

"Are you kidding ?" a mid-tier hero yelled in disbelief. "Just burn it! Throw it in an incinerator right now and end him!"

"No!"

All Might's voice shut the room down instantly. He looked out at the angry heroes with completely serious eyes.

"If I burn this paper, I might just break the quirk effect," All Might explained. "I do not know how Hero X's power actually works. If the paper tears or burns, it might release the villain right into this room, fully healed and at maximum power. I will not take that risk."

All Might picked the glass box back up, holding it tightly against his side.

"Because Tartarus is gone, I will guard this myself," All Might declared loudly. "I will keep it on day and night until the new facility is ready. If he sohow breaks out of this paper, I am the only one here who can physically fight him."

Madam President nodded sharply. "The HPSC officially approves this. The Symbol of Peace has sole custody of the leader."

*-*-*-*

Ti: Twenty Minutes Later

The main assembly was dismissed. The thousands of heroes started leaving the hall to get to their patrol routes.

Behind the heavy stage curtains, a much smaller group gathered. Endeavor, Best Jeanist, O'Clock, and All Might stood in a circle to coordinate the top-tier shifts.

Endeavor was in a terrible mood. He crossed his arms and scowled at the floor.

"This entire situation is a ss," Endeavor grumbled. "Babysitting a piece of paper. Rebuilding highways. It's ridiculous."

"The threads of society are tangled right now, Endeavor," Best Jeanist said smoothly, fixing his high denim collar. "We just have to iron them out. It takes patience."

All Might stood there holding the glass box. On stage, he was the commanding Symbol of Peace.

But back here, surrounded by his peers, he was incredibly awkward.

He rubbed the back of his neck, trying to make casual conversation to lighten Endeavor's mood.

"Well, you know, Enji," All Might chuckled nervously. "I think I'm getting a bit too old for all this running around anyway. I was actually thinking... maybe I'll beco a high school teacher. UA High sounds nice."

"..."

Endeavor slowly turned his head. He stared at All Might like the man had just grown a second head.

O'Clock just pulled his hat down, trying to hide his smile.

"A teacher?" Endeavor asked, his voice loud and completely full of disbelief. "You just punched a cloud across the entire Asian continent yesterday! And you want to spend your ti grading high school math papers?!"

"I'm sure I could learn the curriculum if I study hard enough and I'm not saying I stopped being an active hero on duty," All Might replied defensively.

"You don't even know how to silence your own cell phone!" Endeavor yelled. "I wanted to surpass you All Might. I don't want to beco the number one just because you retired."

Location: Northern Italy – Hidden Mafia Base

Ti: Afternoon

BAM.

A heavy wooden door exploded outward, shattering into splinters.

Giulio Gandini stepped through the doorway. The butler adjusted his black gloves. His remaining eye was locked dead ahead.

"Kill him!" a mafia guard scread from down the hall.

Four guards raised their rifles and fired.

BANG. BANG. BANG.

Giulio didn't even flinch. He used the raw chanical power of his cybernetic legs to slide fast across the marble floor, ducking right under the bullets.

Thump.

He grabbed the first guard by the ankle and yanked hard.

Thud.

"AGHH!" The man hit the ground heavily. Giulio imdiately spun around, driving his heavy cybernetic heel right into the second guard's chest.

CRACK.

The guard folded in half and passed out on the spot.

"THIS BASTARD!" The third guard's hands suddenly glowed bright red.

"DIE!!"

He activated a heat quirk and swung a burning fist right at Giulio's head.

Swish.

Giulio calmly stepped into the punch and caught the fiery fist with his bare hand.

His Neutralization quirk flared.

The fire instantly died out, turning the guard's hand back to normal flesh.

"What's going on?!"

Giulio twisted the man's arm hard and slamd him face-first into the concrete wall.

Thud.

The hallway went completely quiet.

Step. Step.

Giulio stepped over the unconscious bodies, breathing heavily. He had been fighting his way through this compound for hours.

He turned the corner and walked toward the master office at the end of the hall.

CREACK.

He reached out and pushed the heavy double doors open.

He dropped his guard entirely. A wave of pure, overwhelming relief washed over his face. He finally found her.

"Young Miss," Giulio called out softly. But looking at the situation of Anna, he felt the situation was weird.

Anna Scervino stopped by the large desk. She wasn't chained to a wall. She was wearing a dark, expensive dress.

She was packing so files into a briefcase, preparing to evacuate the base now that the global raid had thrown everything into chaos.

"Giulio," Anna whispered, her voice barely carrying across the room.

Giulio stepped forward and stopped thinking about the strange atmosphere. His voice shook a little from pure relief. He didn't think anything was wrong.

"Let's go ho, Young Miss," Giulio said, reaching his hand out. "The guards are down. Your parents are waiting for you. We can leave right now."

Anna didn't take his hand.

She just looked at the butler who fought through hell to find her. Her expression was incredibly complicated.

She looked at the man who cared for her, and she felt a deep, painful love for her family.

But she also rembered the year and a half of daily torture. She rembered being imprisoned like in a cage.

And she rembered that All For One was the only person who actually gave her the power to crush the people who hurt her.

She was tied to the Demon King by the Abyssal Covenant now.

She knew Giulio wouldn't understand and her family wouldn't understand.

Anna gave him a deeply sad, tired smile. She walked right up to him. "Tell my parents, I loved and missed them."

"Huh? You can tell them yourself Young Miss." Giulio replied back, reaching his hand out to take hers.

But Anna didn't grab his hand.

FWOOSH.

Instead, she quickly raised her fingers and pressed them flat against Giulio's forehead.

Tapping into the borrowed quirks from her connection to Charity, a dark red aura flared around Anna's hand.

FWIP.

She hit Giulio with a forced-sleep quirk.

"Wha~!?" Giulio's lone eye widened in pure shock.

His brain completely shut down before he could even process why the Young Miss just attacked him.

THUD.

Giulio collapsed heavily onto the expensive rug, completely unconscious.

Anna stood over him for a second. She looked down at his sleeping face, her eyes filled with regret.

"I'm sorry, Giulio," Anna whispered softly.

She grabbed her briefcase, turned around, and walked out the back door, disappearing into the shadows.

Location: Shizuoka Prefecture – Grandma Saki's House

Ti: Evening

CLICK. CLACK.

The front door opened heavily. Soga, Rapt, and Moyoru dragged themselves into the hallway.

They were completely covered in dust and sweat.

The three of them had spent the entire day running back and forth with the local police, managing the evacuation zones and handing out water bottles to the displaced crowds.

"My back is killing ," Soga groaned, kicking his shoes off into the corner. "I don't want to move for a week."

Makoto walked into the hallway carrying a stack of warm, wet towels. She tossed one to each of them.

"Perfect timing, guys," Makoto smiled. "Wash up. Kaito is cooking a celebration dinner tonight."

Soga wiped his dirty face with the towel. He nodded, expecting to walk into the kitchen and see Kaito throwing together so quick fried rice or instant noodles.

He walked into the dining area and stopped dead in his tracks.

CHOP. CHOP. CHOP.

Kaito was standing at the kitchen counter wearing a black apron.

His chef's knife was an absolute blur. He was dicing garlic and onions so fast that Soga couldn't even track the blade.

Because the entire world fully believed that Hero X was a flawless god, that belief directly fed into Kaito's reality.

When he picked up a knife, he cooked with terrifying, reverent precision.

Every single piece of diced onion on the cutting board was the exact sa microscopic size.

Sitting next to the vegetables was a massive, premium cut of venison.

"Uh... do you need any help?" Moyoru asked nervously, standing by the doorway.

"No, thank you," Kaito answered without looking up.

He grabbed the venison and slid it into a hot pan.

SIZZLE.

Kaito grabbed a bottle of red wine. He splashed it into the pan and tilted it just right.

Bright orange flas flared up beautifully, catching the at.

He quickly added a precise dash of soy sauce and butter, aggressively reducing it to create a thick, glossy, dark sauce.

Soga, Rapt, and Moyoru just backed away slowly. They were way too intimidated to even ask if they could peel potatoes.

"This is the first ti, I saw him cook."

"Really Grandma? But the way he moves and those skills are like professional chef right?"

Makoto and Grandma Saki were sitting at the kitchen island, watching him work with wide eyes.

Twenty minutes later, Kaito carried the plates to the long dining table.

It was a French-Japanese fusion masterpiece.

SIZZZLING.

The venison was cooked to a perfect dium-rare, and the dark wine reduction sauce was drizzled over the top.

"Eat up," Kaito smiled, pulling his apron over his head.

NOM.

Kenji picked up his chopsticks and took the first bite.

He completely froze. His eyes rolled back into his head.

"Oh my god," Kenji whispered softly.

CLATTER.

Koichi's mother dropped her fork right onto her plate. She covered her mouth with her hands, looking like she was about to cry.

"This is it," Koichi's mom said, shaking her head. "Normal food is ruined. I can never eat a regular bowl of rice again."

Grandma Saki took a slow, happy bite of her at.

She leaned over and softly nudged Makoto with her elbow.

"You know, Makoto," Saki whispered with a sly, teasing smile. "He cooks. He cleans. He owns real estate and he is Hero X. You already have the absolute best husband candidate sitting right in front of you."

COUGH. COUGH.

Makoto violently choked on her water. Her entire face turned bright red.

She quickly looked down at her plate, coughing into her napkin, but she absolutely couldn't deny it.

After everyone finished eating and the plates were cleared, Kaito walked over to the coffee table.

He pulled a piece of paper and so lody and gave it to Kazuho.

"What is this?" Kazuho asked, unfolding the paper.

Tamao leaned over her shoulder to look.

It was sheet music. Kaito had written out the lyrics and the lody for a brand-new song.

"The world is a ss right now," Kaito said, leaning back in his chair. "People are terrified. I figured they could use a new song to help them heal."

Soga looked at the sheets and burst out laughing.

"Dude, you are a machine," Soga joked, shaking his head. "You just ended your massive contract with All Might yesterday, and you're already dropping the next hit? Are we really following up the 'Bling-Bang-Bang-Born' video tonight? Do you ever sleep?"

"Not if I want to keep you guys relevant," Kaito shot back with a grin.

Kazuho's eyes lit up. Pop Step was back.

"Let's go!" Kazuho cheered, grabbing Tamao's hand.

The entire O'Clock Studio crew. Kazuho, Tamao, Koichi, Soga, Rapt, and Moyoru ran into the spare studio room in the back of the house.

STRUM. THUMP. TAP.

For the next hour, loud noises leaked out of the room.

They were tuning the acoustic guitar, adjusting the snare drum, and figuring out the pacing of the upbeat lody.

An hour later, the bedroom door opened.

Kazuho called the parents, Makoto, Grandma Saki, and Kaito into the living room for their first live performance.

Kazuho stood in the center, holding the acoustic guitar.

Tamao was sitting behind a small drum set in the corner. Koichi and Soga stood off to the side, ready to hit the backup vocals.

HUUF-PUFF.

Kazuho took a deep breath. She shared a confident look with Tamao.

"This one is called 'Hope'," Kazuho announced, her voice steady and bright. "One, two, three!"

Tamao hit the drums, dropping a fast, lively beat that instantly got everyone's feet tapping.

Kazuho started strumming the acoustic guitar.

It wasn't a sad, mournful song about the disaster. It was a high-energy, incredibly hopeful.

It completely rejected the fear and trauma of the past few days.

"Kimi he no omoi ga takanatte

Kagiri naki chikara umareru

Motoru naraba doko made mo

Kawaranu kizuna furikazasou"

[We will raise up our feelings for you

We will rise up with our boundless strength

No matter where we are, we will obtain it

We will move with our unchanged bonds]

"We are HOPE!" Koichi and Soga shouted together, jumping in perfectly for the backup vocals.

The bright lody completely washed away the heavy atmosphere in the house.

Koichi's mom started clapping along to the fast beat. Kenji bounced baby Emi on his knee, grinning from ear to ear.

Kazuho closed her eyes, leaning into the microphone stand they dragged out from the back, her voice climbing higher as she hit the chorus.

"Aoku hiroi sekai no hate ni

Kimi to zashita ibasho ga aru

Susumi yuku kouronara

Tooi mukashi mou kite ita"

[Through the end of this wide blue world

You will reach out your place

It was a moving route

We made this up a long ti ago]

Tamao hit a massive drum roll, transitioning the beat into a heavier, driving rhythm. Rapt and Moyoru clapped loudly, hyping up the energy.

The song carried a pure, healing joy that filled the entire room, making everyone completely forget about the ruined highways and the global panic outside.

It was exactly what they needed.

"We are HOPE!" the whole studio crew sang out loudly.

"Aoku hiroi sekai no hate ni

Kimi to kaeru beki basho ga aru

Bokutachi wa eien ni

Tooi mukashi sou kite ita!"

[Through the end of this wide blue world

You will co back to your place

Together forever

We've decided this so long ago!]

CLAP. CLAP. CLAP. CLAP.

When Kazuho hit the final, ringing chord on her guitar, and Tamao crashed the cymbals one last ti, the family erupted into loud cheers, whistles, and applause.

HUFF-PUFF.

Kazuho breathed heavily, a massive grin on her face. She wiped so sweat off her forehead and pointed her guitar pick right at Kaito.

"So, Kaito," Kazuho laughed confidently, still catching her breath. "We are uploading this at midnight. How many millions of views are we waking up to tomorrow?"

Kaito crossed his arms and looked at her completely deadpan.

"If it gets anything less than ten million by breakfast," Kaito said, "I'm not cooking for you."

*-*-*-*

It was completely white.

There were no walls. There was no ceiling. There was no floor. There were no shadows anywhere.

All For One stood in the center of an endless, flat void.

There was no depth, no length, and no width. It was a completely different dinsion that defied all logic and physics.

The Seven Crowns stood silently behind him. They were just waiting for a command.

All For One stood perfectly still. He didn't yell. He didn't punch the invisible walls.

He slowly raised his hand and looked at his palm.

If he snapped his own neck right now, his consciousness would instantly leave this place.

His soul would transfer directly into one of the backup clones and complete clone of him that Dr. Garaki had hidden outside.

He could escape right now.

But he didn't do it.

All For One lowered his hand. He just stared out into the endless white void.

He didn't look angry. He looked completely dazed. He looked lost.

For the first ti in a century, the Demon King couldn't process what just happened.

He was trying to comprehend the sheer, impossible gap in power between him and Hero X.

All For One just stood there in the white void, desperately trying to figure out why he lost.
