'...Now I understand.' Listening to the story Ylvar was giving to everyone in the assembly hall, Byron felt that everything finally made sense to him. 'Now I understand why Mystia wanted to help the young man out.'
Back then, Byron rely knew Ylvar for his feat of forging an artifact at the peak of Rank 2 during a forging duel.
Though it wasn't unheard of for soone at that rank to forge an artifact, it was still rare of an occurrence for it to be considered a big deal, especially amongst blacksmiths of the younger generation.
However, as he continued to listen to the words that left the young man's mouth, Byron began to realize that there was more to Ylvar than ets the eye, the part about him forging an artifact rely being the tip of the iceberg.
Omitting the other parts of the journey he'd taken to get his armor to its current state, Ylvar talked about the various stages of the armor in detail, explaining the various materials he'd used and why he'd chosen them instead of other materials.
At the sa ti, the young man gave the directors a brief idea of the armor's performance at those stages, causing a bit of discussion amongst the directors, most of which were in favor of distributing the armor to those in the frontlines.
Proceeding through the various rarities the armor went through, the more interest Ylvar garnered from the directors, with so even becoming curious as to how the armor would turn out after hearing that the young man had plans to upgrade it soon.
By the ti the young man talked about how he was willing to share the blueprints to his armor under certain conditions, Byron felt both grateful and guilty that a talented young man like Ylvar existed.
He was grateful because Ylvar's existence ant that the world of blacksmithing would enter a golden age sooner or later, especially with how innovative the set of armor in terms of its passive skill.
However, he also felt guilty towards Ylvar, considering that his actions weren't really sothing he needed to do in order for Julian's proposal to be accepted.
If anything, he felt bad for the young man, considering that he'd put a lot of effort to improve his armor, only for him to share his hard work with others in the end.
Nevertheless, the tactic of sharing the blueprints for the armor worked incredibly well to persuade the directors, with so of them just itching to accept the proposal as soon as the young man's story was over.
After all, if they could get their hands on the blueprints, then they'd eventually be able to figure out how to apply a similar passive skill to other equipnts later on.
Even Byron could not help but get a bit excited once Ylvar ntioned the blueprints, not even being disappointed that the young man would limit the blueprints he shared with the directors to Rare grade at most.
The lowered level requirent wouldn't be as high as the one on the current set of armor Ylvar was wearing, but it was still enough for it to be a ga changer on the battlefield. Seeing as the directors, the general, and the secretary all pushed for the imdiate approval of Julian's proposal once Ylvar was done explaining, Byron began to wryly smile.
'Now that I think about it, Mystia didn't really need to tell to support their proposal,' thought the man to himself, watching as Julian and Ylvar looked at each other in smiles after seeing the support they were getting.
'They would've garnered support for their proposal either way with what Ylvar showed us,' he continued, knowing that so of the directors were definitely dubious of the young man's skills.
However, as soone who's attended the young man's forging duel in person, he knew that it was only a matter of ti before Ylvar would prove himself, considering the massive platform the war has given him to showcase his skills.
'In any case, now that their proposal is over, there isn't really much need for to pay attention to the ones that co after.' As this thought ca to mind, Byron expected the two to soon leave the stage, not minding the fact that the two were briefly talking about sothing.
Though, contrary to his expectations, the two remained where they were, with Ylvar stepping forward once more to say sothing.
"To be honest, Director Julian and I both have sothing to propose for the assembly." Taking in a deep breath, the young man spoke words that imdiately caught the people's interest.
"Now that his proposal has been accepted, it's ti for to show my proposal to the directors."
At those words, the directors looked at each other in curiosity, wondering what kind of item the young man would show them as his proposal.
In their minds, they would still show goodwill towards the young man even if his proposal was sowhat worse compared to the armor set that was just shown.
However, such thoughts imdiately disappeared from their minds as the young man revealed a weapon that imdiately caught their interest.
From the shape of the weapon alone, many of the directors were confident that it had sothing to do with the ranged weapon that had been recently making waves in the frontlines.
Though, little did they know that it was the weapon that served as inspiration for the ranged weapon they knew in the first place.
...
'I haven't even started my proposal, yet I've already got their attention.' Seeing the looks of shock on so of the directors' faces, a faint smile crept up onto Valyr's lips as he firmly grasped the arquebus he brought out.
Giving both Hal and Mystia a heads-up regarding the current state of the eting, the young man briefly glanced at Julian, who gave him a thumbs-up and a grin in response. Smiling as he nodded back, Valyr imdiately began to talk about the arquebus, the gears in his mind turning as he briefly went over what he planned on saying.
"I'm sure all of the directors here have noticed that the weapon I've brought out resembles another weapon you might have already seen," said the young man, to which so of the
directors nodded in response.
Nodding back at them, he continued, "Your suspicions are correct. The weapon I plan on proposing in this assembly does resemble the ranged weapon my friend Vylhalteinn has made popular in the frontlines."
"However, before you think that I've rely improved upon the weapon Vylhalteinn created, let tell everyone inside this hall that your thoughts are misguided."
"In reality, the weapon Vylhalteinn has been distributing throughout the frontlines so far, the weapon you might have thought ca first..."
"That weapon was originally inspired by the weapon you see in front of you."
