Whoosh!

Dispelling his movent skill just as he was a few hundred ters away from the east defensive line's military base, Valyr imdiately had a wry smile on his face the mont he saw the number of people queuing up to enter the base like himself.

Getting the feeling that all of these people had co to the frontlines for the sa reason as he did, the young man could not help but briefly scratch his head at the thought.

After all, the main reason why he decided to use [Soul Shift] in the first place was to concoct a few sets of Basic Reinforcent Elixirs for Thomas and the others before shifting back.

However, with how the world seed intent on having him experience how the War of the Three Sovereignties unfolded firsthand, the young man decided to at least see a bit of the war through, even if it's only for the sake of adjusting his next few plans accordingly.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

With the officials near the entrance of the base having told everyone on the line to show their identification badges before entering, the speed at which people entered the base gradually increased over ti as the people fell into a rhythm of sorts.

Watching the sa people enter the base as if they were showing their tickets for a concert, Valyr eventually took notice of the fact that so of the people were approached by the military officials before being told to step to the side.

Slightly curious as to why that was happening, the young man continued to focus his attention on the people that were called as he sent a few succinct ssages to so people he knew that were currently at the frontlines.

Eventually, after standing in line for at least half an hour, it was finally Valyr's turn to be examined by the military officials.

"Hmm?" Looking at the identification badge Valyr brought out, the military captain that was maintaining order over everyone entering shifted his gaze towards the young man in front of him.

"Ylvar? You're that Ylvar?"

"I don't really know any other Ylvar here aside from ," replied Valyr with a shrug, only to inwardly curse himself for not having used [Thousand Polymorph] before arriving.

Thinking that it was only a matter of ti until the officials figured that the person they were talking to was none other than Valyr Zeihardt, the young man was instead t with indifference to his appearance as the captain gave him a wide grin.

"7-Star rcenary, huh?" said the captain as he briefly chortled. "I've heard a couple of things about you from the boys."

"Keep up the great work. You can enter."

"Hmm?" Although he was greatly relieved to see that the man hadn't recognized his original appearance, the thought of the other people being called to step aside still lingered in his mind.

With that, he asked back, "Sorry for taking up so of your ti, but mind if I ask why you've been having so people on the line step aside?"

"Ah." Hearing Valyr's question, the captain looked back at him before nodding in understanding. "Well, it makes sense you find it weird. You're on the path of a rcenary, after all."

"The path of a rcenary?" Murmuring those words to himself, the young man eventually figured out what was going on. "Wait... are all the people you've called so far part of the military?"

"Correct." The captain nodded, smiling at the fact Valyr got it quickly. "We've been lacking in numbers for our next mission, so this would be the greatest opportunity to fill that up."

"I see." With his curiosity fully satiated, the young man thanked the man while apologizing for taking up his ti, only to then head straight to the center of the base as he assud his Ylvar identity with the help of [Thousand Polymorph].

Swoosh!

Doing a few basic movents in his new appearance after arriving at the center of the base, Valyr let out a faint sigh to calm himself as he briefly glanced at the exit that would usually lead one straight to the barracks.

Pushing his perception to its utmost limit with the help of a quick [Limit Break: Second Verse], the young man soon began to frown the mont he noticed that the barracks had beco the east defensive line during the ti while he was away.

'As far as I rember, the defensive line was situated a couple of kiloters away from the barracks back when we were only facing against the orcs,' thought Valyr to himself as he scratched the back of his head.

'Is the strength of the elves really that overwhelming that their inclusion in the war forced the east defensive line to this state?'

"To think the brat would finally appear in front of after not responding to any ssages for over a month."

Just as Valyr continued to ponder over the thoughts he had whilst he continued to gaze towards the barracks, a familiar old man appeared in front of him, talking to him in a slightly sarcastic tone.

"It's been a while, Elder Noel," replied the young man as he gave him an apologetic smile. "I suppose you've made progress in fusing Azure Energy while I was away?"

"And I suppose you've made progress in refining your control over Void Energy if that's the case?" asked Noel back, to which Valyr imdiately turned his head to the side in response.

"...Just as I thought."

Faintly shaking his head at the answer he got, Noel faintly let out a sigh to ease the tension between among them. "Well, discussing about this isn't the reason why I've co here. If anything, it's about the war that's currently going on, right?"

"How's the east defensive line holding up, Elder Noel?" asked Valyr as he nodded, giving the man a brief overview of what he already knew about the war so far. "I noticed that the

defensive line's been pushed back after the elves joined the fray."

"It used to be worse than that, actually," replied Noel with a low sigh. "If you were here around two weeks ago, then the defensive line would have been only a couple hundred ters away from the gates of the military base."

Valyr's eyes widened at those words. "How was the line pushed back, then?"

"With tenacity and brute force, obviously," said the man, the slight frown on his face turning into a proud smile. "Aside from , a lot of us old-tirs worked together to push the line back to a point where we're more comfortable."

"Though, if I were to think about who contributed the most during that event, then that would have to go to the Northern Star."

"Is that so?" Hearing that Jekyll was one of the main reasons why the current situation hadn't reached the worst-case scenario, Valyr inwardly felt a bit proud for the man, especially if he were to consider where he t the man for the first ti.

"So... going back to the main topic. How's the east defensive line been holding up as of late, Elder Noel?" Talking a bit more with Noel over the specifics of what happened during that dreadful ti, Valyr eventually returned the topic of their conversation back to what it was

originally.

"Worse than when we were only fighting against the orcs, but still manageable." Elder Noel slightly shrugged at the question. "At most, those that chose to take on the path of a military officer are being escorted to missions more often."

"And those that took on the path of rcenaries are still being treated the sa?" asked Valyr back, his eyebrow raised in curiosity.

"Pretty much." The old man nodded. "Though, unlike before, you have to take a few more missions than before if you want to be exempt from non-urgent missions for a certain period

of ti."

"How many?" Valyr inquired further. "I'm currently a 7-Star rcenary."

"5 missions," replied Noel, which imdiately caused the young man's expression to turn

slightly sour.

Fortunately, the man's next few words returned the color on his face.

"Though, once you do so, you'll be exempt for the next half year."

"Noted." Thinking of completing those 5 missions while he still had more than enough ti

to do so in his current identity, Valyr decided to head straight to the mission hall after asking

Noel another question.

"Is there anything else I need to keep in mind?"

"Hmm..." Rubbing his chin in response to the question, Noel closed his eyes for a bit before a

thought eventually popped up in his mind. "Ah, right."

"You ntioned that you're still a 7-Star rcenary, right?"

"I did." Valyr nodded. "What about it, Elder Noel?"

"Well... how do I go about saying this?" Seeing Elder Noel briefly hesitate over the words he planned on saying, the young man quickly began to have a bad feeling on what he would hear

next.

"According to the orders of the Grand Sovereign, all enlisted personnel at the rank of Colonel or 10-Star rcenary and lower are mandated to remain at their respective military bases at

all tis." "Since you're still a 7-Star rcenary, the mont you stepped foot into the military base..." "You've basically signed yourself up to be unable to leave this place for the anti."
