"To be honest, I initially had a different idea in mind when I thought about how we'd complete the mission," said Hal after Valyr deactivated the skill he was using.
"In my head, Harold and Nerissa would do most, if not all of the work for the mission." The man briefly glanced at the two. "After all, with your abilities combined, the possibility of any person detecting your attack is incredibly low."
Hearing those words, the two nodded in agreent, especially since the thing Hal ntioned was what they prided themselves upon.
"Vera would then support you by buffing you with her Mystic Energy while also binding the Grand Chieftain down in place, allowing you two to make sure that your attack would land," continued the man as he briefly gave Vera a wry smile.
"Then, Ylvar and I would work together to make sure that the assassination attempt wouldn't be disturbed in any way, making sure that the five would be able to escape after dealing with the aftermath of the successful assassination."
"However." As this word left the man's mouth, his gaze shifted towards Valyr, his eyes faintly gleaming with excitent. "With what Ylvar just showed us, there might just be a better way for us to complete the mission."
With that, the man did not hesitate to go over his new plan with the others in great detail, causing the expressions on the others' faces to continuously change as they listened to the entire plan unfold.
By the ti Hal was done explaining the new plan to them, Harold, Nerissa, and Valyr briefly looked at each other before looking back at Hal.
"So, let get this straight," said Harold. "What you want to do is to mask both Nerissa and Ylvar's attacks from the detection of the Grand Chieftain."
"Correct." Hal nodded. "Of course, I've already taken the limitation of your skills into consideration. As I've ntioned earlier, what we're gonna do is have you focus your skills on Ylvar first."
"If Ylvar's attempt at killing the Grand Chieftain in one hit fails, then we could take advantage of the confusion by having Nerissa attack during that ti."
"I get that part," replied Harold. "The only problem I have with the setup is the fact that I might not be able to do that great of a job once I proceed to mask Nerissa's attacks with illusions."
"After all, I'll be allocating most of my energy to make sure Ylvar's attack wouldn't be detected in the first place, right?"
"And that's why Vera's going to focus most of her attention on buffing you," explained Hal. "I'm sure it'd be possible with the buffs you have, no?"
"I an..." Just as Harold was about to say that it was difficult for him to do what Hal wanted him to do, the man noticed Valyr giving him a faint nod.
Getting the feeling that there was sothing more to the nod than he initially thought, the man eventually decided to go with the feeling he felt from the nod, causing him to let out a sigh as he looked back at Hal.
"I'll try my best, I guess."
"Great." Hal smiled in return. "Aside from that, the plan is more or less the sa. I'll still make sure our attempt at assassinating the Grand Chieftain wouldn't be disturbed and that we'd be able to escape the aftermath with ease."
"Any other questions about the plan?" asked the man after that, only to receive a series of shaking heads from the others in response.
"Alright, then." Hal nodded at the reply he got, only to then let out a faint sigh of relief as he decided to reinforce the barrier surrounding them.
Swoosh!
"We'll depart in the middle of the night." Briefly looking at the position of the sun, Hal gave the others a tentative ti as to when they'd return to the east defensive line.
"In the anti, it'd be great if the three of you could discuss on how you'd execute the assassination itself."
Hearing those words, Harold, Nerissa, and Valyr looked at each other for a brief mont before nodding back at Hal's words.
After that, the three of them went ahead and distanced themselves from both Hal and Vera for the anti, wanting to make sure that their roles and positions during the assassination attempt were clear.
After all, whether or not the mission was a success greatly hinged upon their actions.
"Before we begin, I suppose we should start by introducing ourselves," said Nerissa, to which Harold and Valyr nodded in agreent.
"The na's Nerissa. My current rank is Gold rcenary, and my skills mostly lie in assassination."
"Harold," said Harold after that. "Just like Nerissa, I'm also a Gold rcenary. As for my skills, they mostly revolve around illusions, which is the reason why Hal first proposed that the plan revolved around the two of us."
"Ylvar," replied the young man with a faint smile. "Unlike you guys, I'm just a 10-Star rcenary. In fact, the reason why I decided to join you guys was to raise my rank above that." "Why this mission, though?" asked Harold in slight confusion. "Wouldn't it be safer if you were to do a lot of missions and beco an Iron rcenary that way instead."
"It would be, but I'm in a race against ti, unfortunately." Valyr wryly smiled. "Aside from that, Hal, Vera, and I know each other before the war even broke out, so I'm sure they'd vouch for what I'm capable of."
"Speaking of which, my abilities encompass... pretty much everything, I guess."
"Everything?" Harold looked back at him with a slightly raised eyebrow, only to then get the feeling that the young man's words had sothing to do with the faint nod from earlier.
"Is that the reason why you nodded at earlier?"
"Yeah." The young man slightly grinned, extending his palm outward to conjure a small ball of Mystic Energy. "I'm pretty sure you two know what energy this is, right?"
"This is... Mystic Energy?" responded Nerissa after a bit of silence, only to then look back at Valyr. "But wait... isn't this sothing only Vera should have access to?"
"Well... let's just say that Vera and I are disciples under the sa master," replied the young man with an enigmatic smile.
"In any case, let's work out how we'll kill the Grand Chieftain, shall we?"
