Whoosh!
As a miniature sun ford above the tip of Valyr's magic staff, it was no surprise that the
sight left the old woman at a loss for words, the energy making up the spell itself causing her
mouth to go agape.
"What in the..." Just as she barely mustered up the strength to murmur these words, the young man went ahead and threw the spell at a spot slightly far away from where they stood, letting the room receive the full brunt of its might.
Bang!
Inwardly hoping that the room would sustain at least a bit of damage from the attack he fired out, Valyr was instead slightly disappointed to find out that the old woman's earlier words were true.
Nevertheless, he still ended up feeling satisfied once he saw that a considerable part of the floor had taken on an ash color due to his spell, prompting him to look at Rinea with a faint smile on his face.
"That's enough, right?"
"...Huh?" With Valyr's words snapping her back to reality, Rinea gazed at the spot where the spell landed, only to be briefly left at a loss for words once more after seeing how far the might of the spell extended.
Of course, as soone who had been overseeing this part of the registration process for quite a long ti already, the old woman wasn't surprised by the fact that a spell like that could show such a level of might.
After all, even though Rank 1 mages were the most common types of people who registered to the Mage Guild, she still ca across a few who registered at a higher class rank, showing off spells deserving of the class rank they currently had.
If anything, it was the fact that the young man could unleash that much level of power that left her at a loss for words.
Then again, who would expect a Rank 1 mage's spell to be that powerful in the first place? "...Ehem." Clearing her throat as she gazed at the spot where Valyr's spell struck for a bit longer, Rinea's expression eventually returned to its previous calm before giving the young man a slight nod.
"In normal cases, that would be enough..." said the old woman, which allowed Valyr to imdiately understand what would happen next. "However, I have a couple of suspicions that I would like to confirm with you first."
"Go ahead." Valyr nodded, deciding to be as cooperative as possible.
"Is it a spell that doesn't have a long cooldown?" asked Rinea, her gaze intently focused on the young man's face.
"It does not." The young man shook his head.
Inwardly surprised at the answer, the old woman decided to test the young man's claim for himself while also checking a slight suspicion she had.
"If so, could you cast the spell without using that staff of yours?"
Hearing the request, he looked at Rinea for a bit before nodding. "[Arcane Codex]."
"[Orb of Apyrhan]."
Whoosh!
Having lost the conduit that was his magic staff, Valyr allowed his arm to take the staff's place, extending his right arm up into the air before conjuring yet another miniature sun.
Bang!
Throwing at a spot close to the previous one he shot out before, the young man watched as yet another portion of the floor turned black because of the spell.
"Is that enough?" Feeling like that was enough to address the doubts and suspicions the old woman had towards his ability, Valyr looked at her with a mix of calm and confidence.
"Hmm..." Yet, contrary to his expectations, Rinea still remained a bit skeptical, deciding to have Valyr fire a few more of the spells alongside a couple of variations.
Thankfully, the young man had more than enough mana to cater to all her requests without having to take a small break in the middle, which allowed the additional verification process to only last for a few more minutes.
"Well, that definitely confirms it." Although around a fifth of the room's floor had beco charred due to Valyr's spells, the old woman seed oblivious to it as she nodded in understanding.
"You've definitely got amazing potential for magic."
"How high is it, if I may ask?" asked Valyr, getting slightly excited at having his current abilities be quantified.
"Definitely near the highest possible classification, if not the highest classification itself," said Rinea with an air of confidence, causing the young man's excitent to reach an all-ti
high.
Sadly, before Valyr could even relish in the feeling, the old woman's next words put a massive damper on it. "However, even with all the additional tests we did, there are still so parts to your spell that I have a hard ti figuring out."
"With that being said, I'm afraid you'll still have to go through the final test."
"...Is that so?" Although the old woman's words undoubtedly suppressed the excitent he felt at first, the young man was still confident that he would beco an official mber of the Mage Guild, possibly even a high-ranking mber from the comnts the old woman had to say about his potential.
With that train of thought lingering in his mind, Valyr went ahead and thanked the old woman for her ti before proceeding through the door that would lead him to the final part of the
registration process.
"..." Watching as Valyr finally closed the door to the next room behind him, Rinea imdiately let out a low sigh as she felt imnse guilt from the fact she had him go for the
final test.
"Surely I've made the right choice, right?"
"Indeed you have," said a voice in response to her murmurs, surprising the old woman as she turned around to look at the one that answered her question.
"...You should really stop sneaking up on people, Director." Seeing as the person that appeared behind her was none other than the man from the previous room, Rinea let out a wide sigh before returning her focus back to the man's response.
"In any case, what did you an by that?"
"Your decision to send him to the next room," replied the man with a calm smile after briefly apologizing. "I'm quite curious as to what kind of results he'll get from the final test."
"But didn't you hide his information, though?" Rinea looked at him with slight confusion. "Normally, the protocol would be to have those who availed that service go through the entire registration process, whether or not they show that much talent?"
"That's normally the case." The man nodded in agreent, only to look at her with a slight grin. "But you're missing sothing, Vice Director."
"Missing sothing?" asked Rinea in return, only to look at the man in shock as she heard the
next words that ca out of his mouth.
"I wasn't the one who offered to hide his information for him."
"Instead, he asked for it himself."
