Chapter 1006: Chapter 1006: Unworthy of Li Beijue

“Let’s go.”

“Alright, Miss Chi, please follow .”

That person walked ahead.

Chi Enen followed behind him, and as she was just descending the staircase, her mobile phone chid with the sound of a text ssage.

She took it out for a look — it was a text ssage from Li Beijue.

Why was Li Beijue texting her?

Chi Enen curiously tapped on the ssage, only to see a few domineering lines written inside — Chi Enen, if there’s anything, call ! Don’t you dare not call! If the old man says he wants to see you, don’t go! Wait until I’ve recovered before doing anything! Also, don’t talk to strangers! Get going and co back quickly!

Chi Enen quickly skimd through the text and couldn’t help but laugh softly.

What kind of nonsense was he spouting? She wasn’t a three-year-old child; she was just heading to the kitchen in his house to make him a bowl of tomato egg noodles. Was saying it not enough for him? Did he really need to send a text to remind her again?

Still… having soone care about her like this felt pretty nice.

After sending back a simple reply of “Okay,” Chi Enen tucked her mobile phone away.

The Li family’s mansion was enormous—so large it was downright awe-inspiring. Its size definitely made it at least twice as big as an ordinary park.

A place this big would naturally make it easy for anyone who was visiting for the first ti to lose their sense of direction.

Fortunately, Li Beijue had sent soone to guide her. Otherwise, Chi Enen might genuinely have trouble finding her way to the kitchen.

As she got closer to the kitchen, Chi Enen began hearing people talking about her.

“I heard the young master brought back a woman today. Did any of you see her?”

“No.”

“I haven’t.”

“I saw her!” At last, soone admitted to seeing her.

The others quickly asked, “What’s she like?”

“What do you an, ‘what’s she like?'”

“What does she look like, of course!”

That person let out an “Oh” and deliberately stretched their tone, “I think she’s pretty average-looking. And I heard that the Old Master Jue doesn’t particularly like her. Her family background can’t even compare to Miss Kim’s. Who knows what sort of trick she used to fool the young master into bringing her back, despite the Old Master disliking her.”

The fact that Chi Enen was a lady from the Habsden family was sothing very few people were aware of; this detail had never been publicly disclosed.

Most people only knew her as the Chi family’s illegitimate daughter.

“Is her family background really bad? I heard she was a representative of Ryan, though?”

“That’s probably just the young master pulling so strings to let her have that title. Otherwise, with her kind of identity, how could she ever be brought back here?”

“Ah, so that’s how it is.”

A few people whispered and gossiped amongst themselves, completely oblivious to the fact that the subject of their gossip was right behind them.

The servant Li Beijue had called to lead Chi Enen was sweating profusely, discreetly glancing at her response from ti to ti but making no attempt to stop the others from gossiping.

“Won like this—sparrows who sohow manage to turn into phoenixes—will do anything to make the young master marry them. Too bad she’ll never make it past the Old Master Jue. Ha! Should we place bets on how long it’ll take before she gets kicked out?”

“Sure, I’ll bet three days.”

“I’ll bet five days.”

She had assud this lot would bet on one or two days, but unexpectedly, it seed they had so confidence in her. The corner of her lips curved upward as she walked forward, “I’ll bet a lifeti.”

“I’ll bet a lifeti!”

“A lifeti!”

The others turned their heads to see who would make such a bold wager, only to find that it was Chi Enen herself. After a wave of frantic murmurs among themselves, their faces turned pale in an instant, as if they’d been turned into mute parrots incapable of uttering another word.

How could she be here?

How much of their discussion had she heard?

If she told the young master about this, would they…?

The maids’ faces turned ashen.
