Compared to that disastrous Red Wine Chicken from before, this Salmon Sashimi is so much better. It’s like night and day, hard to believe the sa person made both dishes.
“Wait a mont, it’s almost ready.” The man, having just washed his hands, walked over to the refrigerator, took out a lemon, sliced three pieces, and then squeezed the rest for lemon juice, which he drizzled over the Salmon Sashimi. The remaining three lemon slices were placed on the ice as garnish.
“Alright.” He picked up the plate and walked towards Chi Enen.
Chi Enen watched him complete the salmon dish right in front of her. During the process, her appetite had already been whetted, and when the elegantly plated fish was finally placed in front of her, her hunger grew even more.
The orange salmon flesh was beautifully arranged in a dragon boat-shaped plate. A thick layer of ice cubes covered with cling film was underneath, and the salmon lay on top of the cling film, keeping the moisture from the ice at bay while the chill helped preserve the freshness of the fish.
Beside the plate, there was a finely carved radish flower, incredibly lifelike, and next to it were the three lemon slices Li Beijue had cut.
The contrast of bright yellow and orange was indescribably appealing.
A pair of chopsticks appeared in front of her, interrupting her gaze.
Chi Enen took the chopsticks, eagerly saying, “Li Beijue, I’ll taste it first.”
“Go ahead.” He replied nonchalantly, although his falcon-like eyes were fixed on the little lady’s expression.
Chi Enen picked up the chopsticks and grabbed a piece of thinly sliced salmon. There was no denying Li Beijue’s knife skills were excellent—the salmon’s delicate flesh was difficult to slice thinly, as it could easily break apart. Yet, the slices he cut were uniformly thin and perfectly intact, with no variation in thickness.
Chi Enen smiled with her eyes, choosing not to use mustard, and took a bite.
As soon as it touched her lips, she couldn’t help but widen her eyes.
She had eaten salmon before; at the Habsden family, the big chef often prepared seafood.
But none had tasted as good as the salmon sashimi she was eating right now.
Salmon inherently has a sweet aftertaste, and being a sea fish, the flesh already has a bit of saltiness. The sweet salmon combined with the slight acidity of the lemon created a delightful sweet and sour sensation in her mouth.
No wonder Li Beijue and the others love sea fishing.
Indeed, right-off-the-hook, freshly prepared seafood beats anything served at a restaurant.
Li Beijue had been waiting for her to comnt on the taste, but after a long while, the little lady just kept her eyes half-closed, with no intention of giving praise.
He furrowed his eyebrows and couldn’t help but ask, “How does it taste?”
Only then did Chi Enen realize she had been so focused on eating that she forgot about him. She looked up and gave an affirmative answer, “It’s delicious!”
The man’s previously indifferent deanor subtly softened, and a touch of contentnt appeared on his handso face. Yet, he maintained his casual attitude, feigning disdain, “Of course, who do you think made it?”
His confidence was so clear it was as if he was no longer the one who had just asked whether it was good earlier.
Chi Enen couldn’t help but laugh quietly.
Nonetheless, she extended the chopsticks back to him, eyes bright with a smile as she invited, “Li Beijue, it’s really good, you should try so too.”
