Li Beijue’s mind quickly flashed with the image of soone. He spun around abruptly, and sure enough, he saw that foolish woman. She had caught the whip with one hand and was shielding him.
The whip used for family discipline had fine barbs on it. She gripped the whip with one hand, while the remaining part scraped against her arm, leaving a circle of crimson marks on her fair skin.
It was as if her arm had been kissed by fire—an especially shocking sight!
Li Beijue’s pupils instantly contracted, his teeth clenched, “Chi Enen, didn’t I tell you to wait for outside?”

Chi Enen’s arm felt searing pain as if being set on fire, but it couldn’t compare to the pain in her heart! She could hardly believe that the man who had walked in unhard earlier had now ended up like this.

For the first ti, a flicker of anger surged in Chi Enen’s bright eyes as she stared intently at the old man sitting on the sofa. No matter what, Li Beijue was still his grandson. Even if his grandson had made the gravest of mistakes, he should guide him properly instead of resorting to such cold-blooded punishnts.
Using such harsh and unyielding thods against his own kin—did he not feel any pangs of heartache?
Despite the piercing pain in her hand, Chi Enen acted as though she were rely a guest here. Not the slightest trace of fear showed in her deanor amidst the suffocating atmosphere. Facing Old Master Li directly, she calmly and evenly said, “Grandfather, long ti no see. Sorry for visiting without notice and disturbing you.”
Her attitude was neither servile nor overbearing, her tone composed and asured.

Chi Enen produced a palm-sized small box from seemingly nowhere, released the whip from her grip, and walked up to Old Master Li. She handed the small box over and said, “I ca in a hurry and didn’t prepare a proper gift for you. This is just a little token of my regard. I hope you’ll like it.”
Every detail of her manners, etiquette, and attitude exuded grace and courtesy.
Old Master Li arched an eyebrow but didn’t accept the gift, his indifference as chilling as if he hadn’t seen it at all—deliberately leaving her in an awkward situation!
Li Beijue’s sharp brows furrowed, just about to step in to ease the tension for Chi Enen.

Instead, she placed the gift on the tea table with ease, her bright eyes steady and unruffled as she said, “Grandfather, Li Beijue is injured. I’ll take him out to apply so dication first.”
She didn’t beat around the bush but spoke directly to Old Master Li.
Although she didn’t appear overbearing, both her tone and words carried no sense of a request.
It was more akin to a notification!
After finishing her words, Chi Enen didn’t care about Old Master Li’s reaction. She turned and walked up to the pale-faced man. Her brows knitted slightly as she took hold of his arm and placed it over her shoulder. “Li Beijue, let’s go.”
Everything she did in that mont flowed smoothly, without a single hint of timidity.
From start to finish, she stood in front of him, as though protecting him!
